  1. Savage's highly detailed M27 IAR (plus his highly detailed liver-spotted hands): at max Anti-Aliasing, it's hard to find a single jagged line on the entire weapon. Awesome!!
  2. Where was this? When? After we left the Fal Insurgency last night? or was this earlier? What server has Civis? And pubbers not in TS3 (I assume it was ACRE as you stated you were appealing to them to join TS3) !dntknw
  3. My vote is for EoD - I've wanted to try that for some time. "The horror....the.....horror!" !lol
  4. Not trying to relate the seriousness of gun use to letting someone play your video game; point was that you can swap out any noun/verb set for the key points, and still come out with the resolution that you are the responsible party, as in, you left someone unattended on your account - as far as you know, he could have also used your computer to download stuff(bad stuff) while unattended. Sure, you come from a base of thinking this person is worthy of your trust, but this is something that we hear very often on game servers. So often, in fact, that you may have missed my playful sarcasm about how often we hear this exact excuse - and just like this one, it's usually some time after the incident happened, and it's never the banned person's fault. There will be little recent knowledge of exactly how things happened, if we can even track down the banning Admin specifically. I'd bet dollars to donuts that we have no way of even proving that this was not you, aside from your word. Not saying that you are lying, let that be very clear. Just know we're on the other side of the window. We have no way of knowing in any case, ever. All we have to go on is what you say and write. It's not as implausible as a dog eating the very piece of homework due the next day at school, in fact, I let my brother use my PC plenty. The truth is, we value honesty - and these are merely video games, sometimes people don't even know there ARE rules, let alone that there people paying for the server and admin'ing it actively. That's why we have an unban section. If we can't get the original Admin who banned you, then we will decide what to do here. Specifics help. If you could get this roomate in Teamspeak, it would help, but it's a stretch.
  5. Never heard that one before... So, I was trying to imagine, with regards to responsibility (and who is to blame in such cases), and I swapped out the words involving video game with Handgun and Shoot/Shooter. I think it's a lot easier for me to make my point about who is responsible if you place something important or dangerous in place of the Arma Game and your Ban. Thank goodness this was only a matter of a video game, and not something more dangerous, of course. You're in college now, it's important that you know how to assess responsibility in any given situation, or at least be fully aware of where you are responsible so to act accordingly, regardless of the importance (Video game Vs. Car/Gun/Baby/Pet) Basically, you don't put a loaded gun in the hands of a moron, or in this case, your copy of Arma connected to a Game Server you enjoy playing on. In either case, YOU are responsible. Here's why: By reading this "Mad Libb" you will see why your reasoning is wrong - it is you that are responsible for your possessions, your internet, your PC, your weapons (if owned any). You are responsible for your own trust in others, your judgements of others, and what you choose to trust them with - it would be the same if your PC was unlocked/not passworded, and used without your approval, because it is your responsibility to secure your own things. You clearly did not know this roomate well enough to trust him or leave him alone with your online game account logged into a server that someone else pays for. We pay a lot for that i7 2600k each month; it's the main reason for our fast servers. I recently moved into a college dorm and am now living with a roommate. One night, he saw that I was playing with my Handgun, and he thought it was cool and asked if he could try it out. ...and I gave him a few tips on how to Shoot. He said that he was fine Shooting alone, and that he didn't need help. So I left the room leaving a set of rules so that he would Shoot like any other disciplined Shooter. I came back around one hour to two hours later, and he told me that he (failed). I guess he thought it would be funny break my set of rules... You could make an argument that my roommate was my responsibility, but I disagree. I gave him careful instructions. I believe that my responsibility was to give a set of rules to him, and his responsibility was to follow those rules. He broke those rules, that was his decision. So ultimately it's my roommates fault, not mine. If the Admin who banned you wants to give you a second chance, and on the chance that they believe and are not offended by your side of the story (involving the highly original "roomate" excuse), then you will be placed on probation, and watched, and once again banned if anything like this happens again. We will wait for the Admin who banned you to respond here...be patient.

  7. I'll get a server on tomorrow or the next day if I am busy/hungover. :)
  8. Great review!! Certainly gonna check this out soon! Thanks for the info. !fans
  9. HAHA! !2cool I rescripted that very module for Arma 2! It is very fun to go flying like that!! Much better when you're actually in the flying position, I thought...so - I had spent some time with that SQS script myself! Converted it to SQF and added some appropriate additions like going into the "HALO" position once hooked, and the ability to add a nearby AI unit to your hook (for recovering objectives like Enemy Commander or Downed Pilot). Here's the WIP video I made way back to show off some of my fixes/changes to it: **Horrible Bot Pilot - he just can't fly a straight path, but you get the idea. Plane hooks line, players go flying (in the HALO position) and get reeled into the cargo bay. Speed of reel has been fixed since video was shot, but is still slower than the original, plus added a fade through black and forced Internal View upon entering the cargo bay. Red/Green Jump Lights are available to the Pilot as well as the cargo doors action. This is a script I found online, in SQS, that I converted to the modern SQF as script set for Arma 2 Combined Operations. It is still a work in progress, and adds features such as "nearest unit added to personal skyhook" as well as the Red/Green Jump Light indicators inside the C-130, and options to open or close the Cargo Bay Doors. Players pack a Fulton Recovery Kit like an item (like compass, map, watch, etc.) from an object at base, and can deploy or re-pack it in the field. When they are picked up, the item is consumed. The line reels in realistically slow, and then a nice fade-through-black puts the player inside the cargo plane. Still to do: -Test Locality Issues on Dedicated Server for Multiple Pick-ups on same line -Make Cargo Doors Open from Inside as well as Outside Views -Make Red/Green Jump Lights visible on Pilot's Action Menu only with small cockpit indicator
  10. whiztler LAN_WROTE ... ...Is the ACE/Acre package thru Six all I need? SavageCDN =VG= LAN_WROTE ... 11. I'm there. God willing and the creeks don't rise.... !cmdo
  12. Sounds cool. I'm sure it won't take up any reasources at all - it's rather old school. Will see what we can do and talk with the others when I see them today. !cheers
  13. Wow! That is amazing terrain! And an amazing dogfight - thought he was gonna stall out there a few times! Just, wow! !2cool
  14. After these here holidays, I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot your problem - I'm good at it. I cannot imagine what could be wrong, but these things happen (across many PC's and across many games). I haven't met one that I couldn't eventually fix yet. In the past I've offered to use TeamViewer to assist my friends and colleagues with great success, and fast, too. Let me know - VG is a helpful group, and we want to help you get into our server. After X-Mas, we'll start step by step and I assure you, we will get you into the server once again. Sometimes, it's really just a small oversight, or such. !cheers Talk to you soon! Happy Holidays!
  15. The_BrentP LAN_WROTE ... Go to Saitek. Click on downloads. Click on "Choose your Product" Click "Joystick" Click "X52" Select OS Go to your windows temp files Click on Saitek Search there for a .msi file Execute that file Profiler will then work. I know you figured this out, but some people still have this problem a lot. Also, make a folder for profiles and any profile you download, add it to that file. In the profiler, select "Open" and choose the profile you want. Once it's loaded in the profiler, select "Profile Now" *Go to your windows temp files *Click on Saitek Search there for a .msi file (*or to the folder your downloads go to - this may be different by default depending on OS, browser, etc.) Thank you so much for the help - no one should have to go through that mess, it's rather confusing at first! It was quite a headache for a few days there. Also, still have problems with the controller locking up when using some programmed commands (Shift / for my HOTAS NWS/AR Disc/Missile Step Command in Falcon 4 BMS), ends up in an OS Restart to unlock it (or a nice BSOD - blue screen of death). Poffadder has also noted these problems. I guess I'll try some macros - already found out that the "mouse cursor" isn't all that good, and some programs have a fit with it such as Planetside 2.
  16. Remember the Kaleidoscopes? This is really incredible! How amazing that someone could not only create this, but make it to change when you move your mouse/cursor...or you can just sit back and let it change by itself. Either way it is awesome!!! Very nice.........and pure genius! ALSO, IF YOU PUT YOUR CURSOR RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, IT IS TRULY AMAZING. Be sure to run your mouse over the screen slowly.. !2cool CLICK HERE
  17. Thank you. I am proud to be an American and a gun owner. !hi You know the saying, "...from my cold, dead hands!" - E.H.
  18. Complaints have been mentioned. I have nothing further to add on that account, therefore I'll just sent my praise for what it is. Good work, Melon and the rest of the PR Dev team! I know what it's like to donate time to make a vision into reality - I also will look forward more to the PvP than COOP, because that is the main focus. I could hope for a playable COOP, too, perhaps it can be improved on later? So much to do just to get the PvP working, few workers, lack of time - I could understand the reasoning, and won't toss sour grapes around. I feel the same as those previous posters, though - I'm a COOP nut for sure, and only really, REALLY good games (and good teams) will pry me out into in the PvP World from whence I came. !lol It's the gameplay system that I truly admire in Project Reality - we watched as they tried to implement it in Arma 2, still a work in progress. Perhaps it will work better in the Arma 3 engine... time will tell. The balance, the tactics, and the style of PR will always be a guiding set of concepts for any mission or game I work on for the rest of my life. Like many other great game systems, such as Planetside 2 (which I've recently been turned on to), and even Command & Conquer, there are a few games that set the bar for what should be expected by a gamer. Battlefield 2 Project Reality will always hold such a place for me, gameplay standards that I as a mission maker will always need to measure up to. Congrats, and looking forward to the release, for what it is. !cheers
  19. FIXED!! Found this on SimHQ forums: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3481012/Saitek_X52_Driver_and_Software.html I needed to not use the supplied disc but download special drivers in an almost hidden section of their downloads lists. I'll be buzzin the tower in an F-16 pretty soon, now! !pilot
  20. Seems like we'll be waiting awhile longer for the next Arma - if you haven't read about it, here is the news post: http://www.veterans-gaming.com/news.php?item.125.6 I am sad we won't see Arma 3 as soon as previously stated, but I can understand that internal changes, compounded by the situation in Greece, could complicate this production. What do you think?
  21. Status update for Arma 3 Prague, Czech Republic, Thursday 13 December 2012 In what might be described as an eventful year, Bohemia Interactive has decided to postpone the release of Arma 3. The additional development time enables the project to reach its full potential, with the studio expecting to finalize their release plans in the new year. Recently, Joris-Jan van ?t Land, a 10-year veteran of Bohemia Interactive, took over the role of Arma 3 Project Lead from Daniel Musil, who left the studio to pursue other opportunities. Joris-Jan van ?t Land: "We?ve been in the process of implementing changes that will help us innovate as a studio under unexpected circumstances - facing problems we simply couldn't have imagined?, referring to the detainment of two Bohemia Interactive employees in Greece. Both were arrested on suspicion of espionage while spending their holiday on Lemnos - an island that served as inspiration for the environment in Arma 3. They have since remained in jail pending legal proceedings. "We're still trying to make sense of the situation and hope that our colleagues will be released soon. Although their plight has certainly affected us on a personal level, we continue working on the tasks identified as key to the release of Arma 3." The new release window of Arma 3 has been set for 2013. Joris-Jan van 't Land: "I hope this update provides some answers regarding the status of the project. We?re currently sorting the specifics so we can deliver a more complete announcement at the beginning of next year." The studio is also working on a standalone version of DayZ, which is developed by a team led by Dean Hall.
  22. Unfortunately, no. It does not recognize the controler at all. The install on the included disc recognizes the controller, but says (example): "Gunslinger.pr0 does not contain a profile for this device This device has not been profiled" When I download the Saitek 64-bit drivers from their site, it won't even recognize the controller as attached or programmable. I'll put some more time into my online research, and perhaps figure something out. If anyone has any ideas, I'm shooting in the dark here. Thx! !hi (on a side note - I wonder what happened to my Sig?)
  23. I have been having issues with this x52 in that the SST programming software seems to think I have an x52 Pro - I have researched this online, I'm not alone: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3065186/Problems_with_Saitek_x52_Profi.html Problem is, this guy fixed his issue by uninstalling the drivers, and software, and then reinstalling. I've done that 5 times! With more than one version of drivers/software. I do have a 64-bit system, which I have found causes some problems, but still.... I know how to clean my system, I've removed everything Saitek on each attempted reinstall (reg keys, Sys32 drivers, old program folders left over, etc.) If anyone has any other tips, I would greatly appreciate it. I can't be the only one running a non-Pro x52 in a 64-bit environment.... !hi
