  1. All this time zone confusion is getting to be a bit much. Just to clarify - some people seem to be missing the point of PRT if DST or other concerns are being mentioned. PRT is a common time, obviously based on Zulu clock (GMT). If it's confusing, here's an example: I am in West USA - if PBAsydney were actually in Syndey, Australia for this example, we are both looking at the same clock that says 17:47 PRT -- for me it's 9:47 AM -- That is all that matters to me here in Portland -- if an event were at 18:00 PRT, that means it's a 10 AM clock for me -- for ANY calculation to find out what PRT is for YOU, just look at it right now, note the difference. Bringing time zone maps into this is just crazy, and makes the whole PRT thing redundant (read: you're doing too much work!) Whatever it is for PBAsydney in this example is arbitrary, same with DST - because our goal in this example above was merely to meet on a server at 18:00 PRT, a common time. More importantly, the date should be clear for anyone west of the international date line which is a simple correction for them, but certainly DST and Time Zone Maps should not even come up when we are looking at a common clock on a website.
  2. No worries. I changed it in the master file for good, only losing an hour of game progress at the time - it won't come up again now. I see that it could have just run out as you had changed them manually though, I see the point - I could have just left it and changed the master day 1 down the road at the next campaign restart.
  3. Those squadrons are supposed to be human only - I did not verify any of the squadrons in the save file Sinu provided, I assumed it was correct based on the list above. FIXED I went through the squadrons and ensured our human ones are not set by HQ. If I missed any others, please let me know. Server restarted once again to day 1 first hour. Thank you for the heads up, CobaltUK! 3rd time's a charm, right?
  4. Okay - gonna try this... I do not see a file called veterans.fmap, but in the RAR Day1 save files, you did include a file called VG Master.fmap I've added the many .fmap files to the appropriate campaign weather folder, and I've started again with only the Day 1 (VG Master) files you provided. I've selected VG Master as the Weather Map following the above instructions to auto update and save with. If any of this is incorrect and you meant to include another set of save files and another master .fmap file along with this set of .fmap files, please let me know. Thanks again, Sinu!! I'm sure most people will appreciate dynamic weather!
  5. Threaded optimization, AFAIK. Been thinking about conducting a poll vote to see how many are unable to run the 64 bit version due to their PC limitations. 32 bit is fast becoming the minority among computers and even laptops, might be time to re-evaluate the common standard with regards to this server as well.
  6. Thank you Sinu!! VG BMS Server is going down this morning for the update. Should be back up in about an hour. Server Updated to 4.33 U3
  7. Rad: Be sure to make note of your customized user config file settings and apply them individually to the new config file that's part of the U3 update. Helpful to note that this update adjusts the user config, so note your settings cuz you'll have to redo them after the U3 update.
  8. VG BMS Server will remain on 4.33.2 (U2) until we have a new campaign save file for U3 - shouldn't take more than a day or few, but do not update if you wish to fly online here today and for the next few days (tentatively). Keep an eye on this thread, I will reply here before I begin updating the server and after to minimize player downtimes. *(server is now updated to U3) I'm gonna need help to recreate the Master Day 1 save file for BMS 4.33.3 -- these are the details for our current save, we'd like to match them as closely as possible. The Day 1 KTO file should be started from Rolling Fire as the 909th out of Kadena (Fukuoka Airbase) (KC-135) with the Difficulty Settings shown below. Hoping Sinu or someone can help us set this up again. Thanks in advance!

  11. Encourage them but do not force them. Like Double_13 said, you can't make a rule for everything, and part of the skill of a good admin is learning how to clarify grey areas within the guidelines that have already been established for you - ya gotta learn to mix the "spirit of coop gameplay" with the letter of the law, all while keeping a cool head and giving people the benefit of the doubt cuz these are just games and not IRL life or death situations. You have time to give leeway - to trust your gut and go with what you know. If a public non-squaded player becomes a problem, then you can address it - otherwise, trust your feelings and relax a bit. "Beyond study and instrumentation, there is instinct" This is true for a certain portion - and some of those don't even have headsets yet, may not speak english confidently (or at all), or are very new to PC gaming in general and aren't sold on voice communication (or even paying attention to the chat rolls). Remember, most people in Battelfield style shooter games do not use microphones as a rule because most of the time all you hear on public servers is bullshit or N-bombs and trolling. To some people, online gaming isn't the social or cooperative experience we've come to expect from our online gaming here. Since we're different and more managed than an average public online game server, they won't get that here, but we can't force them to change or to participate - only encourage them.
  12. No, just checked, everything is just fine. I connected without problems.
  13. I literally just restarted the server, campaign was reported as won earlier today. Try again now, it's on Day 1.
  14. Yesterday we got 2 inches of snow in less than 6 hours centered around rush hour traffic. This only happens every several years, and no one seemed prepared. Whole damn city pretty well shut down and this morning it's crawling back onto it's feet with snow shoes on. The giant hill that is the main road off our street is a mess of pileups frozen in action, abandoned for the night. I saw a car with it's dome light on - at least one of them will have a dead battery when they return.

Not one can move as all the cars are touching and bearing the weight of each other. It will be an engineering challenge to safely dislodge them individually without sending one rolling off the side and into one of the houses along the hill.

I took a walk up the hill to look at the mess, there were about 10 cars a quarter of the way up this 1/2 mile hill, a steep hill with angles from 4 to 7 degrees. A set of four cars were sandwiched together right in the middle of the road.

Another pair were frozen in what was a head on collision and they're nearly rolling off the side of the road, and one of them is wedged a foot in the air where their front ends meet, it's tires suspended above the icy ground.

Everyone else that couldn't make it up the hill parked their cars along my street everywhere there was space. They'll have to wait for the snow to melt to get emergency equipment up the hill in order to resolve that massive pileup.

Firstly, people here do not know how to drive in the snow, and secondly the trucks think they can go full speed and ignore packed snow even when they are not 4x4 off-road style trucks. The ignorance and false hope is frozen in a picture of those cars parked in their crashed positions on the hill.

  15. Not sure what was up - the server looked just fine on it's side. There was someone (callsign Viper, so not sure who) about to takeoff - told him to wait for a quick restart. Saved, so it's restarted to whatever time it was right now. Hope it works better now.
  16. Oh, that's sweet! I just noticed that TR433_01_Ground_Ops has the normal Training flight with the F-16, but the other 2 non-training flights there are A-10's. Never thought to try to ramp start one of those instead of the F-16... I've selected other flights in the Training missions before but it's usually by accident and then I'm in the mission wondering where all the steerpoints I briefed on are at or why nothing is corresponding to the section of the Training manual.
  17. In BMS, does the A-10 have a modeled RAMP start and second question, does it have all it's switches mapped to function similar to the A-10 (like how we operate it in the DCS sim) ? Also, since BMS is a Falcon sim, does the A-10 have it's own A-A and A-G controls based on SOI in the way the A-10 actually does with the TMS and China Hat, or are they the default TGP and TMS functions of the F-16 from the rest of the BMS sim? Last question, if you know, does the BMS's A-10 have a PAC control for using the GAU-8?
  18. I think it's best to stick with the default keyboard layout so that people can help out with common control questions (How do I turn on the FPS counter? etc.) and work from there. The A-10 Throttle (in an A-10) uses it's throttle setup quite differently than the F-16, but you should be able to set it up proper for each individual aircraft if you want, and just save them as different profiles in BMS, and load them before flight to choose which one - but I think they should both be based on the default keyboard layout of BMS. *you can look at the diagrams in the BMS manuals to see what the actual controls setups are for the F-16 and map them to the stick and throttle from there. If you need pics for the default A-10C controls setup, the ones from the DCS A-10C manual would work to get a 1:1 accurate setup.
  19. They already got a guide to the best locations for sniping on the new Battlefield 1 DLC map, Giant's Shadow:  http://i.imgur.com/7RGvCGr.jpg :sarcastic_hand:

  20. From the VG Minecraft Modsauce 2 --  I've been building here and there to further develop my castle, flattened out the courtyard and started building the village.  First building I've finished is the church near the back, tons of carpenters' blocks for a proper angled roof, and some neat brick textures thanks to the chisel tool.  The larger L-shaped building near the church is next, gonna make it a Tavern of sorts.  Decocraft Mod is what makes the interiors so cool - having tons of fun building this model castle and village!
Every few months, more of that mountain becomes part of my castle.

That largest tower on the left is my indoor automated farm - it's 21 levels going well below ground, using ComputerCraft Farming Turtles for the automation, they reap every 3 hours.  Turned them off now, I have stored 10,000+ of every crop I keep.  It's mostly a Hemp farm, which I harvest Industrial Hemp String from, crafted into standard String, and then crafted into Wool as needed for other projects.xERwyKo.png

*this is all in Survival mode, I'm flying in this pic using my Magic Ring of Flight, which I got as a gift from Rampen after I finished the main castle and that rounded turret near the long bridge - I used to have to use dirt scaffolding to build most of this.
