  1. FTR, Windows 10 crashes or hangs up plenty - you've just been lucky. In Windows 7 (using PC for same shit I do now) I used to have up times of 3+ months. Now I'm lucky to get through a month without something getting porked and having to restart, let alone the Windows crashes making it difficult to test the stability of, say, an overclock. Windows 10 doesn't fight shit regarding issues that want to crash a computer, regardless of whether it was due to hardware, software, firmware, shareware, or binary chlamydia. Also, Windows Restore Point feature is for rolling back recent changes to the operating system environment. It can and should be used before every new program installation and every Windows Update, and make custom names that you can recognize like "before AOMEI installation" or "before Oct2018 WinUpdate". Windows Restore Point is not a backup disk image creator as you suggest, and therefore you are right when you say that your AOMEI Backuper is better than Windows Restore Point at restoring files from a hard drive backup source. Windows Backup and Restore is a built in feature complete suite of functions that can create a system repair disc, create a system image, restore all users' files, select another backup to restore files from, and run tasks on a schedule for maximum protection. In Windows 10, the feature that does what your AOMEI Backuper does is called "Create a system image", and it's found at the link Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore (Windows 7) Using a third party software for file system backup and restoration is a personal preference, but I will say that it is a bit redundant. And the way you say "I don't like doubts" infers that you don't trust Windows to perform these tasks, so you use this third party software AOMEI. Let me ask you this: why do you trust Microsoft to be the backbone of your entire file system, to be your Operating system, yet you don't trust the tools it comes with? Is it just for the user interface that AOMEI provides? Because Windows backup is perfectly fine, works very well, and can be depended upon just as much as any backup. I've never heard of AOMEI myself, I've been around the block a few times, but I had to look it up. I'm familiar with Acronis, NovaBackup, SpiderOak, Carbonite, Dropbox, etc. but I gotta say I was not surprised when I found AOMEI in a Top 10 Free Backup Software advertisement that looked like an actual article about backup softwares. I'm sure they are fine, but all things not being equal, there's no reason to recommend to someone that they backup their computer for peace of mind, and by the way, use this AOMEI software to do it. Windows can do all of this and if you can trust it to manage your files 24/7, you can trust it to create your disc image backup files, too. *Don't be confused by the "(Windows 7)" in the title, it was stupid of them to leave that there and is maybe just to delineate between a replacement system that is perhaps coming in the future, who knows. It works for all systems, and is the best solution for making a Windows OS installation repair disk and a System Image disk, both together being the entirety of your C: drive and OS. Personally, I use 2 separate Class 10 USB flash drives (16GB and 256GB respectively) and while I have copies of these on external hard drives, I trust that these two USB's have everything I need to restore my system. These drives are not in the same building as the PC in case of fire. I use RAID-0 across 2 Samsung EVO 120GB SSD's, the M.2/NVMe drives being brand new and too expensive when I built this, and so I could literally lose everything in the blink of an eye (300ms). I run a backup schedule to internal HDD's that are not the C: drive, and I run the System Image creator monthly. I already paid nearly $300 for Windows 10, I'm certainly not going to pay some other company for a tool that is included in Win10, and DEFINITELY would not install any redundant "freeware" onto my system unless there is no other alternative. But again, third party software tools can be a personal preference, for say, the UI, or other features. Still, Win10 can do it all already, was my point.
  2. Yes, most certainly can be the fans on the graphics card failing. Assuming you've already cleaned off all the dust bunnies, you can go so far (if you want) as to completely remove the fan and heatsink assembly, clean off all the dust and any thermal paste, replace the fans if possible, reapply thermal compound and reassemble the whole lot. Other option is to buy a new card when that one finally overheats. Rattling from fans is a sign of unbalancing due to uneven residue buildup and/or failing brushless motor. Teardown and deep cleaning *may* solve that, otherwise the alternative is throwing money at the problem with a new GFX card and it's not a good time to buy. PC Case fans can always be replaced, but GFX card fans can sometimes be proprietary or molded into fixed positions and therefore irreplaceable (for now). I assume in 15-25 years time, 3D printing at home will allow for a number of plastic proprietary pieces to be remade and replaced when normally this is the death of even fully working devices ... snap off one plastic tab in the wrong spot and things become bricks. Functional bricks, but bricked nonetheless. Also, don't consider the 1060.... 1070FTW all the way. Check the reviews, watch some benchmarks on YT, check the benchmarking websites, etc. Even on a budget, it's better to wait and save up the extra $70-150. Price per Performance is a factor, and it's worth it to consider in this case. It will last for 3 years at least -- consider that price over time and it's a GFX card that costs about $10.14 per month to own, and every month after 3 years lowers that cost. I've had my ~$350 GFX card for over 3 years now, and it's still running strong. A good investment. Expensive, but good. Final note, now that you know, don't get XFX, or rather, get the card brand/version that other enthusiast PC gamers are using based on benchmark tests and demonstrations. Also never buy the reference card (the card built by nVidia, branded nVidia) - third party card makers have much better cooling solutions so they push performance and achieve better clock speeds every time. MSI and EVGA are often the front-runners, with Zotac making some headlines, too. I'll stick with EVGA myself (SC or FTW depending on which tests better) due to their "silent under load" ACX2+ cooling and ability to keep the card at 60 C, and I'll likely buy EVGA for my next GTX/RTX card depending on reviews at the time. It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway for the uninitiated readers that happen upon this thread in the future; remember that the best benchmarks are from the game, and games you actually will use the card for. Not gonna find any PR examples, but several racing games make it into many of the benchmark tests on YT and elsewhere.
  3. I'll be back... just not yet.... (server maintenance *burp* postponed)

  4. Damn kids "planking" in warzones.... Narcissistic even in death... I can hear it now, "(glurg) I'm dying joe... (glurg glurg) Quick - take my picture while I plank (*cough* *glurg*)... put it on the web..." (*blegh*)
  5. https://discord.gg/gHyVqC Waiting for Brakegamer to get me back as an admin for it, holiday weekend so maybe next week sometime. I'll download the actual program so I can start to help manage it. If it becomes active, we will need to manage settings and moderate the way we do with our website and TS3.
  6. We do have a VG Discord at https://discordapp.com/channels/182939816541945856/182939816541945856 (does that link to it? or is that "my" link?)
  7. Out of curiosity, does it have sub-profile settings to switch between different mic/speaker settings without going back into settings? I use those a lot in TS3 depending on which speakers/mic I'm using at the time, and also have defaults for different TS3's that I join so settings are saved different depending on the server I join. I suppose the desktop program version of Discord and maybe the cell phone app have those things? I've only ever used the website version...
  8. What do you actually mean by this? I understand we don't all speak English as a first language, and I'm definitely not briefed on the integration concepts of discord, but I'm not sure what you mean by "add our discord to contacts". Like, do you mean with regards to user profiles on this website, the way we can add contact methods, or such? If Discord has a type of link to our discord profiles, it certainly could be made into a field for profiles on this website. (but on that topic, there are other website changes or upgrades that are higher up on the "to-do" list, and we only make major website changes once or twice every year or two, on an as needed basis) ....... I'm not a big fan of Discord as a Server Administrator because we already pay for a much higher quality VOIP software/server via TeamSpeak 3, and nobody has yet provided any reason (beyond chatting up memes and embeded YT videos) that Discord should be considered a competitor or improvement over TeamSpeak 3. I would love that about now Why use Discord? Why not use TS3? Also, are there plugins for TS3 that add functionality similar to Discord? w/e I don't have time to spend on investigating another VOIP option when I have a perfectly good one with great functions, and a ton of other stuff I'd rather do.

  10. You have been unbanned. We will be watching and listening. If it was correct, then it will happen again and we'll be right back here. If not, then we'll move forward understanding what is and what is not acceptable here, and play the game according to the rules. Our team is discussing better ways to identify those who choose to spam the mics with bullshit and we have a pretty good idea on how to isolate it. Everyone should keep that in mind from this day forward: we WILL be able to tell who is speaking using technology instead of our own ears, and intolerant mic spam will be the focus of our Admin team in the coming weeks and months. READ: If you spam the mic with bullshit, your days are numbered! /locked
  11. You reported that the dev test server (#2, 16577) was in an endless loop of reboots, and was not responding to TCAdmin commands. I had fixed it and sent a message to you that it was functioning properly. There has been no need to reset the server in any way. Your edits or changes to any maps or files on the server are frequently backed up like every file on the server, furthermore, setting them to the side and using default (working) PR files for an event, and later putting them right back where they were is a simple function of the buttons I programmed into TCAdmin. This has not happened, the buttons may destroy maps if not told otherwise, or if the custom file structure is not properly used, but your files are right where you left them, because... ...we have three PR servers. Events formerly ran on the VG Event Server (#3, 16587), our third server, and as you are doing development on what was the Insurgency server instead of using the third one, #3 by default becomes the Event Server again. Basically, we always have 3 servers, they always have file structures that can be swapped within their capacity/needs with the push of a button, and put back the same way. Not all servers use these systems anymore, but for any needs or purposes, they can be reinstated and tailored to any need with less than a few minutes of configuration. (this is what I do here, I keep everything running like a greased pig, and I maintain systems I set up long ago)
  12. Event server was fixed, anyone can feel free to make any event they would like and we'll get it running
  13. Oooh - time to grab soda and popcorn! It's a history of Punch-Out episode!

  15. You can do this online multiplayer on our server, of course - if both Pilots are humans, that is.
  16. Not sure your skill level with BMS or it's interface, but you should be able to frag a flight in TE with a Harrier. You could also start a campaign and find an airbase that has them by default, but then you'd have to fight HQ fragging to get an available seat... Best advice is to get Mission Commander to get full control over campaign save files, etc. where you can choose which aircraft are available at which airbases, and whether they can be used by AI or just you. If you have any more specific questions, feel free to ask - details help. Best wishes and good luck! http://weapondeliveryplanner.nl/download/index.html

  18. No shit - so many times IRL I have died, and been screaming out for a medic (only to see 3 on the mini-map right near me) and ended up giving up just to start respawning again (which takes forever as stated). Life sucks, Imma stick to video games...
  19. Today I learned that in Falcon BMS, there is a volume knob in the cockpit for AI Comms only, will be helpful when you want IVC Comms to be louder than AI comms traffic.  Dash-1 BMS Manual, page 24
    check it out:

  20. What matters most is that there are many, many hashtags so that this thread gets crawled by the google search engine, and for years, any google searches including Jabal Al Burj crashing will lead straight here so they can get all the info they need on a simple report that happened in days past on some groups PR server. Once this starts trending on Twitter, and the global discussions begin, it will all be worth it. Will be great if that map name gets into any other game in the future, hahaha! #hashtag (just busting your balls, Evergreen - j/k)
  21. No -- never!! This is not RO, this is PR and along with other suggestions, these are changes that would alter the gameplay to such an extent that it would be essentially a "different" game. No offense intended. With all due respect, a few of these ideas along with some suggestions on the PR forums to alter the Medic system to resemble the one in Squad are well meaning but flawed at the core. While it feels right to speculate that implementing/changing a system to behave like another one you enjoy in a different game, it is often irrespective of how and why this game operates the way it does. The opinions of a player mature over time, too, in the first few weeks or months vs. after 3000-4000 hours like myself and several other VG alumn, and it is not always easy to remain objective regarding what we personally feel would be a good improvement or addition to Project Reality (DEP or COOP). We've got a few ideas, and great feedback from this thread, but I believe the consensus is that there are a few issues that can and will get solved in future patches, and also that jamming up the difficulty setting will not alleviate these issues. We likely will not lower the number of humans allowed to join the server, but we may request Admins police certain types of camping, but we'll need to discuss it internally to hash out details, specifics, etc.
  22. Really? This is a thing that was intentionally removed?! Maybe unintentionally?
