=VG= T.E.D.F. wrote ... ... players are still forcedto Team 1 (blufor) when they join or die Melon, can you perhaps fix this? I've done some publicity on this, but (see chatbox) in game messages should also be adjusted to reflect this event, and give players a heads up. In game rules need to apply, and messages should say "No teamswitching to bot side" of course, and if you fix the above issue TED mentioned, it will be "automated", eh? !dntknw

...be forewarned - i44 Domi Port has poor garbage collection, server FPS will go down and down until it needs a manual restart. Still an awesome Domi port, but needs manual attention from an active admin at times. Have fun! Hope you get more numbers tomorrow - remember, you can post up on the actual I44 site and get their I44 community involved if you want more numbers. !cheers

BTW - Falcon BMS is wayyyyy better, and more stable. We all fly it now, and it's free! Just download the BMS installer, and point it to your Falcon 4 .exe - if you do not have the original Falcon executable, you do not need to purchase the original game, just download the executable from our Falcon BMS section, then when installing BMS, you just point to where it is on your PC. Eazy Peazy. Again, feel free to post up any questions, we are always happy to help.

www.veterans-gaming.com/download.php?list.62 Called Gunslinger X52 Pro 1.3 - from the included readme: "Paste the ?GunslingerX52F4.key? file in the C:\Program Files\Lead Pursuit\Battlefield Operations\config folder" Follow the instructions in the readme and if you have any further questions, feel free to post them up here. I found it very helpful, and even printed out the pages with the keys layouts and the joystick images with button function labels. Good luck! !coffee

Arma 2: OA Insurgency: where's the british mission?
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to McKillem's topic in Suggestions
Jager LAN_WROTE ... Guessing that it has to do with the rotation, and if one mission crashes it'll revert to the starting one. ^^ Yes - exactly that. ACR was second in rotation, never gets completed due to crashes, and reverts to US - BAF was third in rotation. I've just changed it, now it's: 1. US 2. BAF 3. ACR !hi *won't take effect until server is restarted by an admin in TCAdmin Panel - do so when ACR is ready to crash, or has been up awhile, ask an admin in TS3 or Steam. -
[poll] Got a Smart Phone? Which one? Don't Have One?
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in Mobile
Terremer =VG= LAN_WROTE ... also i was thinking about maybe doing something like this but i dont know java and didnt know what to make. ive got shitloads of time this summer and learning java couldnt hurt so if you want help just let me know. I'm in TeamSpeak today, down in Coding channel creating an outline for this Arma gear selection app idea, and will make a proper project post later. With Java, it's not hard to make it work on Smart Phones and in a website, too, if I am not mistaken. I appreciate all the info on phones! Keep it coming! -
I've been getting into the idea of making Smart Phone Apps for VG that may connect gamer website content and even function in real-time with the game being played. I'm sure that even Arma 2 and the upcoming Arma 3 will allow for many functional apps for Smart Phones and Tablets, and I'd like to get an idea of what kinds of mobile platforms this gaming community and it's friends are currently using. I've got a real POS that I got on sale, a Huawei Ascend M860 (Android) on a Cricket wireless network. A terrible example, and as it's not even 4G, don't be ashamed of your tech - I've already set the bar as low as it can go for a "Smart" Phone. So what does everyone else have these days? Be sure to post up your model number - versions can vary in one product name! (usually found under Settings) **EDIT: IF YOU DON"T HAVE ONE - POLL IT! I also want to get an idea of how many even have these phones! thanks!!

LIVE STREAM EVENT: Arma 2 featuring ACE and ACRE Mods
=VG= SemlerPDX posted an article in News / Events
Operation STOLEN DAEVA Korengal Valley, Kunar Province, Saturday 4th May 2013 VETERANS-GAMING will be hosting a Join Operations Event in Arma 2: Combined Operations today, featuring the mods Advanced Combat Environment (ACE) and Advanced Combat Radio Environment (ACRE) on the CLAfghanistan map which recreates the Korengal Valley of the Kunar Province in Afghanistan as seen in the documentary, Restrepo. Over 40 soldiers and 10 pilots from the squads of LAMBS, Banterwagon, and VETERANS-GAMING will take part in a mil-sim like event using realistic military radios and gear to communicate and execute the mission. LIVE STREAM will be available on TwitchTV from various participants, and will be embeded here as they become live. Sign-ups are nearly complete, but extra positions may become available if we lose a member due to scheduling or technical issues. For all those unable to attend, please enjoy our Live Streams! SITUATION With unexpected fury Ovallestan, located in Clafghan, has exploded into a violent insurgency and guerilla warfare. It started with the downing of a US Army UH-60 Blackhawk transport helicopter, after which down-town Ovallestan turned itself inside out. Since then the guerillas have fortified Ovallestan with a number of DShKM .50 cal positions, and the establishment of four hidden bases of operation. Armed guerilla soldiers supported by light vehicles have since taken to patrolling down-town Ovallestan. The situation is dire. US Armed forces have been tasked to make a counter-push to retake the region. Their mission is to reclaim any intelligence assets from the crash site, and to identify and destroy each of the guerillas base of operations; look for camo nets, antennas, and other signs of paramilitary activity. Time is of the essence. Guerilla forces are pouring in from the mountains, if the insurgency goes unchecked, the whole region will be lost. This is as much a battle of hearts and minds as it is of territory. Ovallestan is heavily populated, avoid civilian casualties, or disrespecting their holy mosque. If the citizens loose faith in NATO efforts, they will start supporting the insurgency instead. MISSION Secure the UH-60 BlackHawk crash site, hide all dead Americans, locate all pieces of mission relevant intel. Seek out and eliminate the four Guerilla staging areas in Ovellestan; look for signs of guerilla presence, camo netting, radio antennas, military vehicles; destroy any facilities or ammo caches. Avoid all civilian casualties. 1. Secure Blackhawk wreck. 2. Destroy all four guerilla staging areas. 3. Return to Base. Full details of the Operation can be found here: Event Post Time of Event: Event Time Zone Convertor SemlerPDX's Live Stream: -
I like that idea - it does suck that numbers have dropped off, A3 is the hot ticket... An event could be fun, as we already know how well Insurgency runs, and most everyone knows how to play it. We could call the event "Resurgency" !lol

Multiple teamkills: Lt Spears
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= Wooz2770's topic in ARMA Player Reports
just know that Lt. Spears is a good player - it's his name that was stolen and used for evil. It's all good, now. If you see a Lt. Spears in game, know that it's the good one - a real team player. (oh, and ^ that Lt. Speirs is awesome, too!) -
It's important to note that you should check through your falcon bms.cfg file if you have modified it, as this can revert after an update, and it may end up logging useless things again. Here's the info Rebel had to do again after his update: Copy and paste, the following two variable(lines) to your Falcon BMS Config file located in your USER\Config folder and save the file. It can be opened with Wordpad or Notepad. These variables prevent BMS from creating Packet logs in your User\Logs folder that are genertated when MP'ing and can become extremely huge in disk space. They are not essential to the end-user. set g_bMessageStatistics 0 set g_bEnableRakNetPacketLogger 0 !cp

Multiple teamkills: Lt Spears
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= Wooz2770's topic in ARMA Player Reports
no, not the =VG= Lt. Speirs - but Lt. Spears - it's confusing, but there is a long time player on our server named Lt. Spears, and his name was used by this fucker. It was not really Lt. Spears, and also, of course, not =VG= Lt. Speirs. -

Bobbus LAN_WROTE ... To be honest I've heard nothing but bad things about Dwarden (and more specifically his competence) from people involved in arma modding / server adminning. I'd be inclined to take anything he says with a few tubs of salt. I'm not gonna step to defend or vouch for him, but I have dealt with him plenty, read many of his writings and posts, even played Planetside 2 with him, and never had that issue - but - when shit happens in A2 (or A3A now), people tend to flood him in particular, and in a way, I think he cannot help but take it a little personally. Not that anyone is directly telling him that HE fucked up, but I can imagine having to discuss and explain over and over again with many, many curious individuals and how tiresome it could become - and we know how text is so horrible at conveying correct emotion. Then again, maybe he just has sand in his cracks... !dntknw I myself saw how rustled PITN's jimmies had gotted last night when he came into my TS3 channel last night to discuss a potential hack/hacker. These things do happen, have happened, from time to time. And though I like excitement as much as the next guy, I've never seen the sky actually fall.....yet.

Spent my entire morning there! I love those pics! Very good quality, your attention to detail shows! !2cool !rockon

I'm not sure what could be the issue. I may be able to help, but we'd need to be able to talk. I'll be online tomorrow in TeamSpeak 3 - I'll look for your name, and if you see mine, right click on it and Poke me. Our TS3 address is: ts3.veterans-gaming.com Perhaps I could host a TeamViewer session and get to the root of the problem fast. !cheers [EDIT: I used to use that same controller before I got an X52. I know it does work for sure...]

!2cool It just so happens that I am a professional joint operator !puffpass

Oh yeah! I got a well trained British squad in a Hurricane and a few medium bombers (Beufort FTW!) You can find the Aussies' playing it often, too - jump in TS3 and we'll get some flights going. Can't wait till it's out of BETA and we don't have to fly against aircraft in other classes/eras. I hate getting shot down by that Me262 while flying a Bi-Plane. !lol

PITN LAN_WROTE ... I have an uncompressed jpg that is 3mb. This coveres the entire object. A tiny texture can be less than 100kb. The xml is the only way that I know of to superimpose an image on the current texture. That Squad XML image on the vehicle is only present when a player is in the vehicle. And it will be overwritten by the highest ranking unit in the vehicle each and every time. Anytime your "medic" vehicle takes on a customer that outranks him, his vehicle will change from a medic symbol to some dudes Squad XML image. Besides the obvious, trying to use the Squad XML system to behave in this way just to keep down on some file sizes is not really the way to go. When you load into a game with players who have their Squad XML images at various .com's, all those images are sent to your computer, in a folder called Squads. I guarantee you have mine and L.A.M.B.S. in your folder, so next time you join with us, it will only call that image from your PC, not the website URL it originated from. YES- - that image must exist on every players machine before it shows up in game. If you want to use tiny image files like that and attach them to vehicles, you could do this via scripting, and I can tell you right now that you will not be able to interrupt the Squad XML system in Arma to become a triggered image system without making your system a Mod, a Mod that breaks the Squad XML system completely to accomplish this goal. And if you are going to make it a Mod, why mess with the Squad XML system? You'd just make an area on a vehicle that will take an image, somewhere empty, and designate it as a spot for your dynamic tiny images, to be called on conditions you scripted. People use Mods for heavy image manipulation - like Camo packs - to keep mission file size down, and to make it multi-mission friendly. This is the only way to go to get this idea you want done. It is not possible to call an XML image thru Persistant Database for the purposes you have described, not without modding at the very least.

PITN LAN_WROTE ... yeah, that's what I thought. But an XML type texture would be an awesome way to make a mission that was not texture heavy. The XML is still a .paa graphic just like any image in the game, and still needs to sit somewhere for it to get into the game. Our Squad XML image, squad_logo.paa sits here on the website at the link we use in our settings, and the actual XML file in there tells Arma personal info about each player that matches the player in the XML file. It's basically a table of names and id's, and a pointer to an image. The exact same kind of thing happens in missions, they pull images from files. All this is way too over the top for just some in-mission image manipulation. Right now, even MSO only pulls in strings of data, not files or actual images - and we can do the opposite, too, like the MSO Leaderboard test. That's about it. Whatever it is you want to do would not be hard, or hard on mission updates. Just not in any "XML" way, as that's not really a thing. K.I.S.S. !cheers
