Cheers for the input guys!
I am very aware of BMS and it's advantages. I found the DCS F/A18 just more appealing with NAVOPS and carrier landings. The one big goal I am striving for is multi crew in the F14. This is part of the reason why I opted for DCS and the Hornet.
I will jump into BMS when my free time permits me to do so.

After researching for 1/2 year I finally got a dedicated HOTAS + Head Tracking setup. I am currently learning the F18 and am enjoy the fidelity and systems depth. I can do A/A and SEAD and want to flesh out NAV next.
Anyone up for a noob flight? hmu

How much will this cost to get a server up and running?
We have a dedicated server. Afaik @=VG= ciro has full root access. I dug around a little bit but could'nt find any hardware requirements other than Windows/Linux. The configuration itself is presented in form of a step by step guide here: https://squad.gamepedia.com/Server_Configuration

If not i'll apply.
For testing purposes we don't need a licence.
"Remember that if you do not receive a license, you can still host a server!" Source: https://squad.gamepedia.com/Server_licensing
The guidelines state that we need a min of 10 admins/instance. I don't think we are quite there yet. Could we host a non-licenced server to check the hardware specs and then, when the tech groundwork has been laid out we could apply for a licence. I played SQUAD yesterday. I made it to the squad selection screen before quitting. There were 8/9 locked squads. 2 one man heli squads (two helis available), one IFV/BRDM squad driving a T90, one one man BRDM squad locked conducting deep operations far away from any cap and some inf squads.
I feel the playerbase needs more servers with a proven ruleset. I'd be down to read into the admin stuff.
One thing that might bring us more popularity in the squad community right away would be to host workshop mods like the aussie mod. There are always people looking for servers but none stay up for long. If we would to fill that niche we could implement the PR legacy ruleset with a kind of good minded monopoly like we enjoy in PR COOP. If there will be more servers popping up we would still have a dedicated and fair server culture that has been popular in COOP for quite some time.
<prophecy> Once @=VG= Melon Muncher learns UnrealEngine and creates a highly sophisticated machine learning AI for SQUAD, PR will die. Once that happens we are prepared for the first official SQUAD COOP VG Server. :) </prophecy>

I saw that thing just the other day, and literally thought -- hell, for that price, I'd learn how to make my own! Same with those rudder pedals they use - Always a bit too close together, and made of plastic. Gonna get a 3D printer someday and make some sweet controllers - might even be able to crack out enough to sell here at VG Store, for sure! Button boards, custom USB hubs, wireless TrackIR TrackClip Pro mods, etc.
Looking at prices for high quality HOTAS mounts, sticks, grips, throttles, pedals (ex), buttons, MFDs and so on I regret not taking the CNC route in Highschool. The simmer community will import products from China or Lithuania because apparently there is a huge gap between products from mass producing companies like logitech or thrustmaster and small shops like virpil or ch products.

Server currently is unreachable ingame. Doesn't show up in the server browser. Connect via IP just freezes the game.
Troubleshooting I did:
- Restart server via tcadmin panel
- Stop, then start server via tcadmin panel
- Sacrificed a goat to the PR gods

@=VG= Kavelenko The mods are rather small in ARMA terms and easy to remove. I know all of them and they add great functionality to the vanilla experience.

If I may... The Griffon CAS DOES INDEED have 1, one, single medium crate of the green variety. I agree that it should be treated as CAS. But CAS should be willing to drop said crate right quick if someone needs it. It's not suited well for trans in my opinion.
+1 also the fact that this layer does feature a massive two big-box carrying behemoth of a chinook that can spam crates all around the map, with a 5 minutes respawn and 7 seats for infantry, putting the trans capabilites of the griffon into a minor role.

I just changed my key bindings to match PRs...
I own squad and i would be down for a 24/7 server with the legacy PR ruleset. Currently it's hard to find a decent server with strict rules and active admins.
Hopefully this will change in the future as soon as the mainstream gamers moved on and only the dedicated stick to it like in PR.

I do not like it, because in Antistas 50% of the game time you plunder the corpse.
Yes! Antistasi is not suitable for a hop-on / hop-off server we are running.
@topic: We could kill the Tanoa BMR Insurgency server and host a CUP or RHS CTI mission.

How about your Backdoor SALE, Cruizer?

@ZZANG1847 I used pcpartpicker (based in US) to compare your best buy offer (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-580-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6362427.p?skuId=6362427) to a almost similar custom build.
Difference:
- I excluded the Win10 licence because you can get that for $30 somewhere else.
+ I doubled the RAM to 16GB to account for the additional win10 licence cost and because Ryzen loves Dual Channel High Clocked bars.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/F7Fwcq
Conclusion:
pcpartpicker: $843.64 (raw price, excl. shipping costs)
bestbuy: $599
I recommend the best buy offer and pruchasing additional 8 GB of the same RAM yourself (This can be checked after it arrived). Its a good price and you save time not installing everything.

@TEDF Holy moly those vids are fucking funny. So many names that you don't see around anymore. Trip down memory lane...
@ Topic: Keeping it in events is the way to go. The problem I see is when you have this type of setup we would need admins on the other team as well. But even bigger, the maps aren't balanced for human opfor use. F.e. the Havok von Jabal would be instantly manned when it spawns. One would have to camp the helipad and get in the cockpit before it takes off...
