  1. *Server is now running BMS 4.33.1 (BMS 4.33 U1) and you can all try to join and fly. The save may need some tweaking, and we'll know as time goes on - difficulty, HQ fragging at certain airbases. For example, I have no HQ fragging at Seosan, Kunsan, and Osan has 1 squadron of F-16 Block 40's not fragged by HQ. We'll see how it goes, and feel free to post up input here.
  2. Updating the BMS server now. Expect downtime for most of the day. Will post up when it's done and running 4.33.1 !hi
  3. SemlerPDX =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Minrah LAN_WROTE ... when does the server update to 4.33.1? A couple hours after they release 4.33.1 !sarc (depending on download speeds of course) Well, as it turns out, maybe not so fast. My own PC is down, and I'm on my laptop. The VG Falcon BMS Server will updated Friday, or at the latest, it will be running 4.33.1 by Saturday morning (Pacific US Time). This will allow for me to install my replacement CPU cooler today when it arrives, as I need to have access to all my files and I need my client version running to best setup and test the server when I change it over. I will announce it when the server is going down for the procedure. VG BMS Server will continue running 4.33 through Friday
  4. The Tommo Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.33 U1 - is now available! http://www.bmsforum.org/forum/showthread.php?26567-Falcon-BMS-4-33-U1-Full-Installer (actually released last night, not sure how I missed it - been checking the site nearly 3 times a day for weeks! lol !lazy )
  5. Just for fun, here's the system requirements for the original Falcon 4.0 (gee, I hope I can afford a whole 64MB of RAM so I can play it on "recommended" settings): Minimum Requirements: Intel Pentium 166MHz 32MB RAM 175MB HDD space Windows 95 or 98 with DirectX 5 Monitor 800x600 16-bit color 4x CD-ROM joystick DirectX compatible 16-bit sound card. Recommended Requirements: Intel Pentium 2 266MHz 64MB RAM 400MB HD space Windows 95 or 98 with DirectX 5 3D graphics accelerator (D3D or 3Dfx Voodoo) 8x CD-ROM joystick with throttle DirectX compatible 16-bit sound card

  7. UPDATE: [ Edited Tue Apr 05 2016, 08:03PM ] SemlerPDX =VG= LAN_WROTE ... The Tommo Falcon 4.0 total conversion modification - Benchmark Sims 4.33 U1 - is now available! http://www.bmsforum.org/forum/showthread.php?26567-Falcon-BMS-4-33-U1-Full-Installer (actually released last night, not sure how I missed it - been checking the site nearly 3 times a day for weeks! lol !lazy ) BMS 4.33.1 System Requirements Note: From the BMS website: "The original Microprose Falcon 4.0 software (not Lead Pursuit Falcon 4.0 Allied Force) is required to install Falcon BMS. During installation, the user can provide the original Falcon 4 CD, a clean F4 installation (or 1.08us) or the CD's contents in a folder on the user's hard drive. It does not have to be an English language version, however, BMS is in English only. NOTE: BMS does NOT install over-top a clean F4 installation, it is completely separate in its own folder (or folder of the user's choosing)" http://www.bmsforum.org/forum/...(system requirements) VG FALCON BMS SERVER IS NOW RUNNING THE LATEST VERSION OF BMS 4.33 The wait is almost over for those who had not downloaded Falcon BMS 4.33 before the link was removed for the licensing discussions - in short, an agreement has been reached between the BMS devs and Tommo Inc., the new owners of the original Falcon Series. Soon, the new BMS download will be available - all the details and information can be found on the BMS website here: "BMS 4.33.1 will release shortly - What you need to know and how to be prepared" http://www.bmsforum.org/forum/showthread.php?26408-4-33-1-will-release-shortly-what-you-need-to-know-and-how-to-be-prepared TLDNR - What it all means: Falcon BMS 4.33.1 will require us all to have fully installed the original Falcon 4.0 - there will be checks during installation and each time you launch BMS. It will again be a standalone version with no connection to BMS 4.33 or 4.32. It will include the first patch to BMS as well promising a few minor improvements. Logfiles and keyfiles will work from 4.33 to 4.33.1 and can be copied/pasted to move your current setup and settings into this new standalone version. The VG BMS Server will be running BMS 4.33.1 when it finally releases, which should be soon. Right now, GOG has the original Falcon Series on sale 75% off - that's only $2.49 (US)!! Normally, it's $10 on GOG or Steam, either copy will work (on Steam, it's called Falcon GOLD) Best to get it now on GOG while the deal is hot - I just bought 3 copies myself, 2 as gifts for later - amazing deal, no idea how long it will last! https://www.gog.com/game/falcon_collection
  8. It won't even be an issue. VG BMS will remain up as long as there is internets. ;) **UPDATE: Server has now been restarted to Day 1 (Mar. 27 10:45 PST) locking thread - will post another one after several weeks when the next campaign starts getting stale, it's up to the players. !hi
  9. I am using the Poll window above, but you must also post a reply with your vote - this is only for active BMS pilots on our server, and this is the only way to enforce that. It's been 18 days since North Korea attacked, they've been getting pummeled ever since. I hear the weather is pretty foul. Should we restart to Day 1? Feel free to write input and observations if you wish, I'd rather put it to a poll and a discussion each time rather than just restart it on you regular and dedicated pilots. The beauty of a Campaign that can run for weeks is to see the progress you make as players and the progress of the war on the ground due to your actions. It's up to you all when the server should be restarted to Day 1 from now on, these polls will come up each month. I'll keep them up for a short time each time, depending on the number of replies, so get your vote in or your points heard before the decision is made. Also, know that any suggestion to restart the server to day 1 will not be a swift process and you must allow time for these votes, hoping to keep this under 24-48 hours until a decision is made. !hi *(So I can see the votes, I have voted YES, but I have no opinion truly - I'm on my laptop and can't even fly if I wanted. FYI)
  10. Thank you for your input. Project Reality has had a rather large influx of players since the standalone released, and the waves of those intent on disrupting gameplay still wash up on a regular basis. At times, for any number of reasons, we will remove a player from the game immediately to avoid further disruption, and sometimes even innocent players get caught up in larger events - for all of these reasons, we have very attentive administrators here at the website and in game (some of whom I know keep written logs in addition to the server log files they have access to) and a very accessible unban request system here at the website to deal with the large volume of players on our servers. You will also see, if you look again at those unban requests, that we respond to and resolve these posts in a rather timely manner, and we lock them afterwards to avoid the unpleasant online peanut gallery posts that plague the internets. Again, thank you for your input. !hi
  11. Dude - just use a proxy... lol. Can't believe that Proxy isn't an SOP for German gamers. Here's a good one for ya - just set your country to US or Netherlands and you'll be a FREE MAN again: https://hide.me/en/proxy BTW, spoiler alert - it's just some cool music from Top Gun and a few other choice selections. !lol
  12. Epic video man - thanks for sharing!! !2cool
  13. Definitely a fan of Patrol Ops - hope their testing goes well.
  14. Rough morning, bit of a late response here - It had indeed crashed to desktop. I restarted it to Day 7. Let me know if it happens again, I will keep this website open and will check often today. !cheers
  15. Restarted. Keeping an eye on it today, it's crashed twice and had a few problems with the server returning to the 2D map a lot.
  16. Roger that. Restarting to Day 1. Here is a synopsis in the form of a JSTARS Replay for the entire course of the war through Day 25 - nice work, Captains!
  17. I had to restart the server this morning to the latest auto-save from day 17. Possibly due to that campaign that was running. I didn't get Cobalt's message until 8 hours later as I was out of town with family. I will be in TS3 but if I don't reply I may be afk - just poke me.
  18. I've never seen a campaign run this long without issues. I have not even had to restart it to an auto-save point since Day 3. I hear there are still playable missions, so we'll keep going. We're at Day 17 now, Pyongyang is still a target, but the main force is pushing up the East coast. I captured this JSTARS Replay of the action:
  19. Fond memories indeed! It was in the Fall of 2009 that I got Battlefield 2 after a break from PC gaming of over 5 years, my last memories being Battlefield 1942 and the Desert Combat Mod on an Old Farts Gaming Server. By New Years 2010, I was more than fed up with the nade spamming and dolphin diving and started looking for a mod to keep the game playable - I discovered this Project Reality mod and was so impressed with how complete it was, including an instruction manual. I searched for the best servers running Project Reality, and shacked up with a dude named Coeman and the Hardcore Clan =]H[= and it was the most realistic PvP online game I had ever played - the map size was HUGE to me, and as a Medic, I rarely fired my gun. It was quite an experience - but also, a very long time between action, too much waiting around (very real, very cool) - but not quite me. I found a more casual game mode in PR called COOP - and the largest, most populated server running it was VETERANS-GAMING. Met some cool dudes named Raven800, LittleTortiaBoy, and RobotFungus - logged over 2000 hours like it was nothing, and spent near 900 of those hours as a Gunship Pilot with Raven800 as my front gunner. Those were the days! Couple of those dudes encouraged me to join the VETERANS-GAMING Website - and the rest is history. Thanks from me as well - VG got me through some tough times when I was unable to work, and felt very unproductive playing games all the time. VG gave me the chance to write and share pics/stories, and to be part of a community. I'm eternally grateful! !hi
  20. lol! These are some funny ass pics! !cheers
  21. The message you are getting now is due to the Dubious Connections check. It could mean that your router has NAT filtering that is interfering, or other factors. First step in troubleshooting that would be to go into the router/modem configuration and set the IP of your computer into a DMZ, then try to join the server - if it works, and I imagine it will - you will know that your PC can join if the router gets configured properly. If you do this, make sure you take your PC's IP out of the DMZ after this test as it is a glaring security hole and should ONLY be used for testing purposes. If you can connect that way, but no other way, you may be able to enlist the help of your internet service provider if you have no success forwarding your ports. If you can successfully connect when your PC is in the DMZ, a way to know if ports were forwarded correctly would be a similar connection success when the PC is not in the DMZ. Slow internet is not the problem here, it's a firewall or packet scheduling, or something to do with your router/modem. Ports will need to be forwarded, but every router/modem does things a little differently and I doubt I can give specific instructions for one I've never used before. Your internet service provider will likely have a troubleshooting department that could help you for free over the phone to get the service you desire from the internet you pay for. !hi SemlerPDX =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Server has been updated with the following changes: -Client Bandwidth Requirement raised to 1024 BW -Server will now only accept P2P connections, if you can no longer connect, read about port forwarding for Falcon BMS here: http://www.krauselabs.net/dump/Hosting-Falcon-4-BMS.html (and here is a link about routers and forwarding: http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm ) -Server will now enforce Same Tile Set and Same Aircraft Data
  22. Thank you to everyone who flies with us, and special thanks to those who help keep the server running smooth by reporting issues and crashes! We continue to have problems with pilots running a 2nd Campaign on our server - this is not something our server can handle. You may fly in Tactical Engagements (TE) or Dogfights on our server, but do not run another Campaign along side the one we are hosting. I have done most everything I can to reach out to pilots who violate this rule, but often I find a Password on the 2nd Campaign adding insult to injury. Please respect our server - if your name is on this list, please understand that we need you to stop. You may join our Online Campaign - Do Not start a Campaign on our server! If anyone knows these guys, or can get a message to them - have them read this thread: Rage Blitz TritonDB Blaze Knubinator
  23. Minrah LAN_WROTE ... I did have a question, is it alright for me to make my own tanker flight out of the 909th? I know thats where the server player sits and I know not to touch that flight, was just wondering with not being able to reach out as far with out a tanker on day 9-11 was wondering if it was alright to set up tanker for the extra long flights Yes, please do! It is okay to task AI flights to support you, even Tankers! You could set up a mostly AI flight and attach yourself to it, so long as you know what you're doing - feel free! Whatever you'd like to do to add to your enjoyment! Only problem would be with someone playing "Commander" and fragging tons of AI flights that have nothing to do with Human flights - but supporting flights SHOULD be fragged to help you in your missions! As far as stores running out, it can be said that in real life, this would be an issue. IRL, this is happening right now in the Air War over Syria - the US has blown through a large stockpile of missiles and now must limit their engagements until resupply is possible. Isn't it true that an AGM-65G is a multi-million dollar weapon? In the spirit of Simulation in this Campaign, let's just see how it plays out until such time as it is unplayable (or concluded). Have fun - fly safe! !cp

SavageCDN =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Will check out the server requirements and see if we can host our own VG Squad server (assuming there is enough interest)? I'd play it - being early access, requirements are probably subject to change, but the VG Dedicated Server is indeed a beast - I'd hope we'd be able to host it if we wanted to. (knock on wood - finally finishing up with the remodel and getting the dust out of my PC and desk... almost gaming time again!)
