  1. I have a huge package with them, including a phone line for the fax, but it has free nationwide long distance, and of course, the HD Cable TV with dual DVR's makes the bundle deal a bit more than $90. $90 is the price without the bundle deal. Here's a local test: Apparently, only 7% of the US have a connection with these speeds on the residential level, but I game all freakin day sometimes, so it's way worth it for me. Plus I web-cam/video phone with my family across country which is priceless. (researching your parts now, among other things, murder... !drag will get back to you)
  2. I feel for you, that crap is lame. But consider that engaging an asshat that wants to deathmatch and teamkill gives that asshat just what he wants. You give him fuel with every exclamation and return fire. You lower yourself to their level and therefore get identified as one of them. As a freedom lover who owns guns, I also believe in self defense - but this is not the corner liquer store or your own domicile...it's a game server. Smacktards abound and they may just target you and video tape your responses ("greifing") to post on YouTube. Don't give them power, as you can see, it already got you banned and you seem to not be one of them. You 0 - Them 1 Try to connect, like BLuDKLoT said, no "Army11b" on the banlist - if not, do you use another game name? When you do get in, if you have any problems, your window to the "police" is TeamSpeak3; look for an admin and ask that they observe/ban the disruptive player. Don't take matters into your own hands or we won't know who to believe. Take screenshots if no admin is online and report them here in the forum. We will take care of the matter for you promptly thereafter.
  3. What they said. Direct connect, not wireless for PC gaming due to the constant stream of packets. Modems are now on a DOCSYS3 standard - perhaps you have a DOCSYS2 modem, and aren't experiencing the modern technology available. If you do get a router, don't cheap out. This is your life line to the game - for around $75US, routers start to get decent. Make sure all your ports are in line, look up UPnP settings, and google about it. Perhaps your modem can be adjusted to allow game traffic through better. Let's get a list and model numbers of the devices you have for starters, and find out the rated internet speeds you are paying for from your ISP. Dial-up is old, slow, and you definetly don't have that. DSL and ADSL go through the phone line as well, but the difference is night and day. ADSL is acceptable for online gaming, as is a cable internet connection which comes in through a coaxial cable line (like cable TV). If you also have cable TV, the actual cable most likely splits to the modem and cable box respectively. The absolute worst, most inconsistant connection is Satellite. Everything from weather to sunspots can cause problems with PC gaming when the stream of packets are interrupted for too long. Most of these options have their own speed levels based on pricing brackets - for about $50/month, cable ISP's offer 6-8MBit connections. I pay extra for the 11th or 12th bracket my cable company offers - 22MBit for a choking price of $90/month. But I also had them hook me up with a Aris Modem (DOCSYS3) and a good router, and had a good technician set me up for internet gaming. We even tested it while he was there. Well worth it, as this is one of my only 2 major hobbies, and camping is nearly free. Let's get that list of model numbers of your parts, including your PC (specifically the MotherBoard and manufacturer) Most are on little stickers somewhere....happy hunting! Click here to test your internet speed. Test locally first, then test your connection to, say, London, where many servers are located
  4. Murderface0151 LAN_WROTE ... i think im going to frame my 4850, and preserve its memory for the ages to come. then in 20 years i can compare technologies and hopefully be mildly impressed by the new stuff I am more than mildly impressed with the differences from my "Wall of Ages". That floppy disk could only ever hold something like 1500-3000kB, and today I have a MicroSD chip I bought for my cell phone that is about the size of the fingernail on my little finger, about as thick, and holds 16GB!! (in the pic also: MSI M950 Mainboard and nVidia 370XT 256MB PCI Video Card)
  5. Ok. I just had a dumbass moment. I saw this thread again at the top of the list, "1.60 Patch", my heart began beating heavy as I started yelling "YES! YES! YES!"........ !yahoo Ahh, just another update saying "anytime now". Coming back down to Earth now. (breath, Semler, breath) Still, I am so stoked that this is coming in a matter of days/weeks now. The MP is so fun I play through that crap, but it isn't really "playing" now is it? I've been up against humans lately, as I am learning the game mode "Takistan Life" and the internet bullshit is just about killing the tactics (imagine trying to P.I.T. a badguy's car with your police vehicle through that desync!).
  6. Welcome to the site! Have fun, and for Pete's sake, identify your targets before firing! !tounge It happens to the best of us. See you around!
  7. I didn't believe you at first, till I fired up vanilla BF2 and saw the 40 most popular servers all at an avg. of 50 players. That's 2000 players just in the top 40 - the list keeps scrolling. I didn't know that many people still put up with dolphin divers, bunny hoppers, and nade spammers. "it hasn't gotten wierd enough for me yet"
  8. Are you serious Tortia?!?! Holy fuck!! !shok
  9. THANK YOU 2shea! !clap This this is way cooler than the crappy virtual reality simulator I played at Wisconsin State Fair back in the day. Those old headsets are too heavy, this is the way to go with it, for sure. Muscle memory!! [EDIT] On a side note, how amazing was it that THE Andy McNab, of Bravo Two Zero, was brought in to test the simulator?! Wow!!
  10. Murderface0151 LAN_WROTE ... i refuse to use any other browser good sir. I can understand a preference, but not a 100% boycott. If you have a problem, and using IE for the task is the main workaround/fix for it, you should feel confident to open IE, perform the task, and close it again. (Delete it's history, etc. at end of session if you wish). There is a big difference in using a certain browser for one task, and using it as your main web portal. !wife Think like Spec Ops: "Surgical Insertion; Stealth Recon; Clandestine Extraction" I promise you, it is HIGHLY improbable that you will compromise the integrity of your PC security, or get some "virus" or spyware and crap by visiting VETERANS-GAMING.COM via IE just long enough to access your profile and upload a song.
  11. Games should be more clear about whether or not they are "another chapter" or a whole new game. i.e. Operation Arrowhead is not Arma III; that is coming out this next summer. The Civ Series did this very well, their wikipedia entry of Main Entries to the series is neat and tidy, and no release was ever misleading about it's engine or features set improvements. For some reason, I cannot post a link to it here. !dntknw
  12. Murderface0151 LAN_WROTE ... will i see any increase of performance? Most likely, but I think it was Poffadder I was talking to about RAM address crap recently. He'd know more than I. I also posted my Pics in another thread, as I built up this monster back in May from a Pavillion's Mobo/CPU/RAM set: click here for blurry pictures of my build
  13. Nice gaming accessories, man!!! !drag Maybe you could gut out those speakers like you'd do to a car, drop in some half-decent ones from somewhere, and even fit a dinky little amp to the back. !lol
  14. You can have a frag grenade land within spitting distance and live?! !shok Whats the freaking point of a frag grenade then?! What happens if a M203 HE round hits the ground by you? A bloody nose?
  15. Yea, this is an administrative problem from EA, not DICE and their development team. The got raped just as bad as the people who were charged twice for the game, who upon calling to complain, were promptly kicked out of the sleezy motel room without even getting cab fare or a decent chance to reapply their lipstick and eyeliner. This is just like what happened to Indiana Jones in Peru. !fuk
  16. At 2:34, we see him throw something and stand 8 feet next to it to take damage, and subsequently heal on the jeep. What did he throw? Was that a stun grenade or a flashbang or something?
  17. Looks awesome, man!! So the RAM slots on that Mobo are paired 1&2 and 3&4? I noticed you have your 2 sticks side by side, and many Mobo paired RAM slots are 1&3 and 2&4. Of course, you probably know your system better than I. Love the big-ass graphics card. It's a shame that she's near the end of her usable life, but just as amazing that it still works well enough to game righteously. !2cool
  18. Well recieved from critics..... The critics of the game I listen to are players, and many of them have problems, some still. I also hear rumors about many who pre-ordered and had more than payment to Origin for the game, and that when they complain about this overcharging/duplicate charging, they come back to find they have been banned by Origin from every Origin game, and their accusations are called lies.
  19. I still love the AMD Blacky's and always will! What a great testament to the beauty of the Quad-Core! Yes, you do NOT need an iCore processor to have great game performance with many, many games that are available right now. I can't give you a cross-comparison as I am also running an AMD Phenom II x4 - the 910 at 2.6GHz/core. I can tell you that with a system like that, your 4850 GPU, though still able to "hang w/the big boys", will become your "performance bottleneck" before anything else (provided you have 2-4GB of RAM). I used that GPU for a long time with great success, and only this past Spring upgraded to a 6770 w/DDR5 GRAM. Also, for the game ArmA, some here have added a SSD as a second hard drive and installed the game there - this vastly improves load times, and may increase game performance as we all suspect Arma accesses the HDD often during the game. Congrats on the new system! Can't wait to get some ArmA ops going again, bro! !cheers
  20. Okay. This is a "sig check V2" problem. You are not alone. I also have it, and unfortunately, the options are few. You can try to install and run the Beta patch (found here); I must say, this does not work for me. Perhaps the server would also need to be running Beta patch version? I dunno. You won't have this problem on the Domination server, I can tell you. The work around for this, and this DOES work for me, is to rename your BAF and PMC folders to something like "BAFzzz" and PMCzzz". Now, when you load the game, you will be able to enter the Insurgency server, albeit without the nice textures that the BAF and PMC DLC's add to their items. It sucks, I know, but aparently, those of us with this problem need to use this workaround until the official 1.60 patch is released. Sorry, but we do keep security tight on that server, and a random few do not pass verification checks with their Downloadable Content (BAF/PMC). You will find that the Insurgency server runs the S.O.A.R. map more than the BAF and PMC versions, so you aren't missing much most of the time by loading without your DLC packs. Let me know if any of this works for you.
  21. The history of the 2nd is well detailed (for once) in the wikipedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution
  22. I love it! Awesome videos, too. Only wish they had made DCS: Longbow instead of a sequal to their already awsome DCS: Black Shark 1. We got the lovely Warthog and in the future, Hornet...just wish I could have my Longbow one day. !hi
