1. can you explain how is it bugged? what does it do, or doesnt do?
2. Im trying to come today, really interested in this. thanks for the chance sav :) would be best to learn about the different tools and how to use them, and maybe do a very simple mission ourselves next time. after we get the hang of doing missions, we could start wondering how to add mods, maps, and such (i dunno, general direction here :) )
3. Headless AI is like AI on steroids :D pretty gun though!
4. I know man, I know. anyways Ive derailed this topic enough :)
5. of course part of it is like that but please dont cut off the part where I said ''...atleast only because of that.''! it is a very important part of my comment after all. and to be honest would you play VBS2 instead of ARMA in a replacing sense, I doubt many would do that, I've watched clips of it and the realism seems to take over the fun and beat it to death with a folding chair. I know that I play ARMA because of the level of teamwork that is required to make it fun, and also just the fact that you can do almost ANYTHING with Arma, well I dont have to explain this to you but anyways :) PS. I'm not denying that I like the realism part but for me those 2 have been more important as it has been for multiple of my friends. as to the gears: you have a good point there, but I doubt its going to change. BTW now that Im reading behind I can see that you were actually a little bit joking on the matter, sorry for spoiling it :P hoping you take my points with a grain of salt. EDIT: about LEA, Ive heard that its been misused a lot of times, for example filling your ammo without doing RTB and such :P any thoughts about that? (just thinking out loud here)
6. as most of you probably know I'm not available on most weekends, so I really haven't been able to make any events. seeing as this wont change for some time I came to think of a way to change it around, I've had this idea to make a small event every week from Monday to Thursday (once per week), of course we wont be able to get as many people on, BUT I'm pretty sure its still possible. now to what kind of event it will be: mostly we will be using the amazing MSO we have been provided and go with that, I might think of something to switch it around from time to time, like testing missions or just taking some from Armaholic. we will see! events will have proper CoC and set of rules, not too hardcore but at least to make sure that we are organized, ill come to that later after having a chat with you. (about what you want) Im sure this thread looks a bit messy and such so anyone who feels like it can clean it up :P as long as you dont change the basic message behind :)
7. yeah I get you going with that, for example the basic stuff you need to cover with briefing so on and so on, I REALLY think that CO shouldnt be the mission maker because he knows what is going to happend.
8. maybe a picture of the cord circle underneath while the swords have been edited above it?
9. @Wooz To be honest most ARMA players dont play ARMA for its realism (just realised this), atleast only because of that. If you would why not play VBS2? but yeah, probably a good idea to a different thread. PS: I hope I dont feel too ''I know everything''-kind because that isnt my intention :) actually dont know much anything about well.. anything? @Semler, true that but the thing is that familiar gear usually makes you play better as well and be more effective :) or were you pointing out that people wont even try different sets?
10. I've been having that thought myself for some time but Im almost never available on weekeds = cant do it, would be very hard to make an event without being there keeping it up myself We'll see :)
11. lol, not sure what to think of, if it means that I have to carry shit load of food and water with me then I dunno :P
12. Not meaning to discourage you or anything but we(most of us) aren't really that interested in DayZ, you might want to re ask on DayZ forums or something :P combining 2 maps would require to basicly remake the maps into single one. but here it goes: Lingor is the best one, most stuff in it and places to hide. yes you can make a new map but that's HUGE trouble in exchange of what we get.
13. np man :) I did kind of fuck up there and you actually pointed it out pretty gently, hahha !lolol gotta make sure we have a CO only, not some combination of 2 leaders.
14. SavageCDN =VG= LAN_WROTE ... ^ This - great point. Over-managing just makes for confusion for the squad. A great example is the other day in MSO we had a confusing ROE while driving to an AO.... stop in certain situations, push through in others, stop for IEDs, go for armor... etc. Really all that needs to be said is push through on contact (or stop... or whatever)... everything else is common sense (ie: don't drive over IEDs). If it's not simple people get confused once the firing starts and things go wrong. Aye, that was my bad. I was pretty confused with the CMD + SQL role, probably while giving a SQL briefing some of the stuff was missed by the whole group and while doing CMD brief I seemed to micro-manage. (which I ultimately did, did not end up in overflowing coms but did cause multiple casualties) EDIT: just came to my mind, someone was talking that ''just leading wont make you a good leader'' or something like that, well I disagree, atleast on my case, I myself havent been able to do ANY kind of training sessions so almost 100% of my knowledge about arma comes from Combat. Still every time I lead a SQ I try to go through a simple checklist before mission start. 1. ROE. 2. Sectors. 3. actions on contact. 4. formations (i prefer loose formations myself, more concentrating on spacing) 5. Other actions depending on mission (passing orders down the line, use of vehicles etc. 6. DON'T TOUCH ENEMY CORPSES. (should be obvious but I see this all day all night in ARMA, this rule depends on the situation) I dont actually have a written down drill but this is a basic form of it, I bet I forgot something but I'm in hurry now. My primary source of experience is UO, and while they are not as strict as before you still have to know basic radio signals and well of course leadership. I don't think myself as a ''good'' leader as jager and calv said but as a difference I'm trying to get there.
15. Ive gone thru those just so I could SQlead in UO. I have also noticed what Semler said, it is unfortunately very common problem, as is some orders like passing orders down the line (no radio in SQ), every time I get a mission like this I have to say the same thing a dozen times before people realize that EVERYONE has to do it, same problem exists in many things like scanning the surroundings or staying in formation
16. of course we dont all have to do it, but some of us (me for example) would like this, just take a few hints of how to do it and do it! we dont ALL have to go the same path. we are a community after all. and I bet you guys wouldnt mind having a hardcore Mil-sim group made as well (or?)
17. PITN LAN_WROTE ... Remember, whether a leader is right or wrong your job is complete the mission by his order (unless it is illegal). Since it is a game, the costs to human lives will be temproary and the after action review at the end of the day is the time to bring up the good, bad and ugly. Work the shit out in training or don't work it out at all. this. also now we are making progress! PITN just gave us a hand at making something out of this topic! I myself dont know shit about these doctrines so we need someone with actual experience to give us one, I'd love to have for example Blud's thoughts on this thing, dont forget that we can take the best out of numerous doctrines and forge our own! that would be fantastic!
18. I think you guys are talking of 2 completely different things, OPS and persistant (INS/AAS/Conquest gameplay) Gaz's gameplay would probably confuse the shit out of the unit. or at least be less efficient than Dman's unit would be (OPS). while Dmans playing would feel too stiff, making the game unenjoyable in some level, at least to some/most of us. BTW. I totally agree with Dman and do agree with Gaz if its not an OP, maybe not even then, depends on the situation.
19. Window Of Opportunity (WOO) is a new game mode that is basically a mix between warfare and high command. More commonly known as "Real Time Strategy". Goal of this was to create a new gamemode that appeals to all of those players, that couldn't get around playing Arma2 anymore because of the lack of fellow players to help get a decent sized coop squad up, to those that have constant performance issues when playing and those that think Arma2 can be played in a bigger magnitude, with a bigger scope than a normal coop or warfare offers. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=14922 *PROBABLY NOT ACE AN MOD*
20. ah one of these again. IMO its best to let em go with a short ban and a warning. more things like this on his part = perma ban.
21. someone should FRAPS it for the simple reason that some of us dont have it :/ would be great to see some VG gameplay!
22. Damn you Savage! :D I was just about to make one when at this moment :)
23. Im there! if we can call out any roles here I'd take machine gunner or some type of lead position. haven't done much else lately. AND YES, its not maybe(not coming) but YES! for a change :) EDIT: we have a lot of missions people, so dont worry if the numbers seem low, but DO COME if you are thinking about it! we love you all after all :) BTW. sav, lets try to get a bit more 10-20 player missions there, can someone advertise this on the BIstudios? or any other place possible :) im not at my computer and I have a busy week so I can keep my weekend free. also sorry if I seem to push the job to you Sav, Id really help if I could :(
24. ACE CO06: Operation Undershaft by Sakowski http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=18231 Operation Undershaft is first North Korean attack on Utes, however this is "Russian" peacekeeping, North Korea agreed to join Russia in peacekeeping operation in Chernarus region, its first attack was Utes. Six North Korean Special Forces Operatives are transported on the shores of Utes on 0640 hours, harsh weather, high wind and rain, their objective is to clear out "Strelka" closest village by the drop zone and then proceed to clear out enemy barracks, however reinforcements might be send to Strelka from barracks. There is a positive intel from NDC (National Defense Commission) that there are two ammo caches in the village and barracks, NKSF operatives are told to destroy it. There are civilian's present so watch your fire, be advised of the reinforcement, it might come or might not and we do not know what it is but we are sure it is nothing big, after your mission is completed move out to the airport, it is marked on your map, PLEASE DO follow the markers on the map just as they say or else the mission wont really work, its my first time making a mission so this was my first shot so I did something very easy NKSF Operatives are equipped with silenced guns, grenades, smoke grenades and satchels charges. Mod Requirements: - Arma 2 - Advanced Combat Environment 2 - Core - Advanced Combat Environment 2 - eXtras - Community Base addons - North Korean Army - ACRE - Advanced Combat Radio Environment (Recommended)
