    Joint Ops

Interesting, are they state side or international?
  3. Well the acr 1.50 vanilla is less stable than acr 1.50, had several long games on acr 1.50 without any problems.
  4. Guessing that it has to do with the rotation, and if one mission crashes it'll revert to the starting one. It's no problem to set it to BAF once in a while if that's a frequent request, but as it stands now I do believe most of the VG admins and the community admins don't spend that much time on regular insurgency. But just hop on ts or add some admins on steam, then pester them ;)
  5. The time zones are screwing with me hence check the linky, plan is to start at that 2100 and keep going till either mission end or 0100 Norwegian time. If people pop on before they can run through the basics map which has firing range, contact zone and kill house. http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=Joint+Operation+Arma+04.05.13&iso=20130504T21&p1=2333&ah=4
  6. Some screenshots from the area. Fixed link: http://imgur.com/a/ZRcaG
  7. Briefing + modlist will be up later today, doing one last run through of the map in 30-50minutes time.
  8. Imposter, spears starts with 2906 if I recall right.
  9. SavageCDN =VG= LAN_WROTE ... We can surely provide the hosting... try and speak to SolarFlame about this ..he's probably the best bet. Cheers buddy, will try and track him down.
  10. So taking the initiative to get some joint op shizle going I've sorta grown tired of running between 3 sets of webpages, and I have a better idea in mind but it requires two things. 1. Some sort of programmer probably web based 2. Someone involved who could host this app / site The basic concept is for us to get a better tool and get rid 3 signup pages, also lets me slack off a lot more. The process I'm going through right now is slightly time consuming. 1. Find a mission idea of some sort 2. Pester the regular people in the clans involved, check interest and get feedback 3. Find commander 4. Find date Now while this does not sound like a lot of work it does take some time to get sorted out. However I feel like we can stream line the process even further to keep up the steam we have and make it easier on us getting to what we all enjoy. The actual game. What I want is two sets of users, admins and users. Admins will: Setup events change descriptions / briefing / start votes Users and non users will: Be able to browse all events, info about them and vote for the days that suits them best. So to go through steps again. 1. Mission 2. Post concept / idea ( visible to public or only to admin not decided yet, I want some feedback on that) 3. Dates are lined up a long time ahead and users / admins can vote on days that suit them, when the development / testing process of a mission is done the day with the highest attendence is chosen. 4. The commander as well as the rest of the slots are filled in after this. What this gives us is a better and faster way to setup joint operations, the concept is fairly clear to me but the inner workings are not. Hence I'm posting it here. And lastly thanks to you lot making it happen, I just pester you enough to remind you that you want some joint operation action as well :p
  11. Alright so far only wooz and castor has responded on the 4th as a date, so far it's looking good on our end. Banter Wagon aprox 10 pax ready to go and roughly 5 in reserve. Lambs 5 ready to go and 2 still checking status. VG Wooz Tort Savage Semler Gaz Castor Ingo Murderface Eclipse AntonH Mabye: BLuD Terremer
  12. Looking at the 4th of May for this event, so far the banter wagon dudes have chimed in and it's a good date for them. Want some feedback from you as well.
  13. Wooz =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Sounds awesome, should we start assigning the roles right away or? Might be hard to do since we don't know the date yet but it vg's call, it will be some upcoming saturday. After the play test I'll give an update.
  14. Gaz =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Looks pretty sweet well done, can't wait now! Hope we play before my bloody exams! I got the commander nailed down ahead of time, yay me etc. So what remains is the play test, I am hoping to get that done by next week. After that / those sessions nkenny will have a better grip on things that needs changing / fixing. So it's not farfetched that I'll have a date for ya next week some time.
  15. SemlerPDX =VG= LAN_WROTE ... !2cool It just so happens that I am a professional joint operator !puffpass And we need more like you, calm under fire :P
  16. SavageCDN =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Thanks for getting this posted Jager it was good to meet nkenny yesterday and love how organized he is with the mission structure, etc. This will be good. Just to expand on Jager's post: Event will be hosted by Veterans-Gaming who will provide: - Arma 2 event server - Teamspeak 3 server - Six-Updater repo URL - bacon Nkenny is a elusive creature tied up in too much worldly stuff so I'm happy he had time to make some missions, he is quite possibly my favorite mission designer (but don't tell him that, it might break him) I have high hopes for this event.
  17. Murderface =VG= LAN_WROTE ... thanks a lot for the post, great to see these Joint ops being discussed and put together more often, it really reflects on the good Arma community we all share and love :) i will be shoulder deep in this, look forward to signing up. No problem, feel better keeping you guys in the loop as we make progress. Nothing happens just sitting on your hands and hoping, in the arma community we make the moments and the memories be they good or bad :P Sure enough others obligations show their ugly heads now and then so I'm happy we made some progress last night.
  18. Castor =VG= LAN_WROTE ... CBA_CO or CBA_A2+CBA_OA? That my friend is nkenny or savage's call, server will be up ahead of the event so people can connect and check if their shizle works but that won't be till after the play test.
  19. Hello gents, it's that time again. Last night we had a meet and greet for the clans involved and the mission designer and we are now left with three steps before a joint operation. The next joint operation will be a mission made by a mission creator from lambs with feedback from the clans involved, the mission as it stands has a working concept and briefing, what remains for the actual mission is a play test. 1. Commander - Matt has after 350 billable hours of Lawyer meetings agreed to take the heavy mantle of Command (..Answered yes when asked) 2. Playtest 3. Date Each clan is supposed to bring 9 grunts + pilot, additional people will be assigned a slot outside of the fireteams. Teams will look like this: Lima 1 / 2 / 3 -Teamleader -Assistant Teamleader -Operator (Assault) -Machinegunner -Automatic Rifleman -Medic -Operator (M14) -Operator -Operator Victor-1 -Teamleader -Machinegunner -Machinegunner -Operator -Forward Air Controller Command -Mission Commander -Second in Command -Chief Air Controller -Master Sniper Air wing consists of 1 pilot per clan but there are 10 pilot slots total, enough to bring cas and door gunners for transport helicopters. And lastly since this will be an actual mission we'll have a briefing before the actual event and a debrief after the 3 hours are up. Location: Undisclosed at this time since changes might be made. More information including briefing and a proper signup thread will be made available as we make progress.
  20. Insurgency Bravo team debrief Rolled out shortly after getting kitted up and had a look at the north western part of the island, met up with a different squad ( Alpha / Pigon? ) at Killfarm. They had the situation under control so pulled perimeter security while they dealt with the cache, after that we moved out towards ao3 and only halted to see if the team that hit an ied needed an assist. Upon closing in on ao3 we took fire from the woods but returned fire with the HMG and pulled up to the base, cleared the inside of the base without incident and moved on to the next ao. From this point on our team didn't see much of the other squads but I enjoyed our drive on stratis even so. Hit up most of the unchecked ao's on the north eastern side of stratis for the remainder of the mission, came across 3 contact zones but only two cache sites. All in all I enjoyed it and my team performed well. Domination Hotel team debrief -J -Murderface -Outanders -Wooz Loaded up in a hunter hmg and drove down to the ao, upon arrival we soon spotted hostiles and started to engage and after that section of the ao felt safer we moved further south landing us on the ridge running into the ocean north of (girna?) and kept engaging, while we had a easy time on insurgency on domi they just kept flowing into the ao even got flanked at some point in time. While the hordes of opfor kept at it I decided we should lock our sights on the radio tower and we made our way there thanks to our armored hunter that was shrugging off bullets like the amazing hulk. However the engine block needs some serious reinforcements, got my full moneys worth our of murderface roadside assist repairing it all the time. Now overlooking the radio tower a quick scan showed the surrounding areas to be safe and the team moved down and took out the radio tower. Taking our time we kept up the fire on the town and had a unfortunate ff incident but we ain't perfect, shortly after the town was clear and I left to get some much needed sleep. Comments Insurgency types Until a few days ago I was unaware that there was two different insurgency game modes being developed and I got to say I enjoy the regular one better than this one. While this version can be fun too it has downsides, for instance if we had an intel marker somewhere we'd all band up and go to that location then clear that area and that would keep us linked. As it is now we can just roll around the island and hope to get shot at by some people close to a cache, now I'd wager that if someone in a base down in Afghanistan was tasked with taking out a weapon cache they would not get the order "drive around till people shoot at you then see if they are close to a weapons cache". Most likely there would be some sort of intel to go by, that in this general area we got reports of jada jada.. Coms One does not appreciate something till it's gone.. ACRE come back! The amount of radio usage in side for insurgency was pretty minimal which I enjoy, and as for domi there was a tad more but nothing too heavy. Insurgency Daipers vs Domination I think we all know which was the harder mission and we can still get better at calling in cas / support, however from a grunt perspective one wants to handle it on the ground, and from a pilots perspective one just wants to aid to the mission. On the insurgency version we played there is hardly a need for cas, on domination on the other hand one often could use some support. At least yesterday mortars was being deployed on targets in the ao so that's something. I do have some feedback regarding the event itself, acre will help out a lot since you can reach out to specific people and only keep in touch with the people you need to be in touch with and otherwise manage your team. Dap insurgency seems less suited for a large session, perhaps if it's running publicly then you might have problems since people might be spread all over. Once the bugs are kicked out of the 0.90 vg edit I'd recommend that one instead of this one, one aspect I'd like to see stolen from dap is the "feature" for the caches to spawn outside of areas with buildings. And with intel one can still find it even though it's in a forest without any red squares. Hmm I better stop writing for now.
