If anyone experiences connection issues, please post them here and we will help you get connected! SERVER UPGRADE NOTICE: Our TeamSpeak Address is Changing! You can now connect with the simple address: TS3.VETERANS-GAMING.COM It's essentially the same as it was, but without the :9176 port numbers after the address. New permissions will be assigned to verified members, moderators, channel admins, and friends. During the migration, our other TS3 server will remain active for a short period to help buffer our change. Please use the new TeamSpeak only, as we will be monitoring the old one to bring your friends to the proper address as soon as they join. A New Golden Age Begins... This change marks a new step forward for VETERANS-GAMING, and your continued support has brought us here. We are proud to announce that our game server hardware is now better than ever, with nearly every game we play taking advantage it. The specs include an i7 2600 Quad-Core CPU, 32GB of DDR3 RAM, a massive 2 x 3TB SATA 6 Gb/s HDD array in RAID-1, and more bandwidth and speed than we'll likely ever use! Our initial tests were jaw droppers, and you can expect to see a dramatic decrease in server lag, congestion, and downtimes on a more stable platform. Basically, as one of our Arma mission makers, I sum it up to mean that most any problems or issues can now be directly attributed to the game engines and specific missions we play before we have to blame anything on the internet itself, or our hardware. Murderface LAN_WROTE ... using different BAF units than the Bohemia ones would work pretty well i reckon lol. i can NOT stand poor textures Me too. That's why I dished out the whopping $10 for BAF DLC so my favorite game is all it can be. (just kidding, I got my BAF and PMC for free - but still, they are both worth their $10 each) !pleasantry

this is the mod Private Pirate mentioned: http://www.armedassault.info/index.php?game=1&cat=addons&id=1003 It's a client side mod - simply need to allow it via key sig. I'd never play with it on, but it looks like Pirate and his CRT style monitor will thank us. Any objections or reasons not to? -

Please set me as Fire Team 1 Leader again. This week prior to the event, I'd like to run a small re-training with members of Charlie Squad so as to bring any new players up to speed. Also, I'd like to have any new players, or those who've had technical issues, meet up for a test joining and troubleshooting session to make sure we are good to go on Saturday morning. (nuthin worse than things not working when we're all trying to start the main event) !fans -

I'm liking the switch to the Intel - they are leading the way, blasting AMD out of the water. I've been learning a lot from Poffadder in the discussions we've been having regarding this new tech. From what I hear, there are instances where a CPU is branded several ways, but remains the same at the core - meaning you pay less for same part, and manually dial it up to the speed of it's higher priced brother. Do you plan on doing any overclocking, or perhaps sometime in the future? And, if you are, know that you have plenty of helpers here that are happy to answer any questions you may have. !cheers

plymike LAN_WROTE ... The first ever gaming computer I bought was CyberPower, I hated the hell out of it and it was always needing to be fixed. Plus I just added up everything, some componets not as good as what I'm currently buying, and it ran me about $210.00 more expensive. So, what are you currently buying? The list has changed from the first post moreso than just that 8 core AMD? Also, remember, specs quoted by Newegg are no kind of specs at all. Research your parts separately, not at the storefront - for example, look at the best Gaming CPU's between $100 and $200 as rated/tested by Tom's Hardware: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-3.html You'll see the FX-4100 doesn't qualify as a "gaming" cpu technically, and also some real data on the CPU's that should be considered for gaming PC builds. !hi

Seriously, when I add up the price of all your parts, it comes to the same prices (and in some cases, the same parts) of the custom built gaming computers at CyberPower (the link that BLuD posted). The only difference is that for that same price, through CyberPower, you would be getting a way better graphics card, better RAM, and a warrenty on the build. Unless you were going to build a rather advanced, expensive setup, I would also recommend that you check out CyberPower's deals cuz you could get way more for your dollar when it comes to entry and mid level gaming systems. http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/

Just Alt-Tab and check your Task Manager when you have the game running. Click the Performance tab and check your Physical Memory Usage. That is your guage as to whether you need more RAM or not. I always prefer faster over more, and as you would need to purchase another copy of Windows (64-bit) and reinstall the whole thing (programs and games included), you may consider the eventual costs adding up. In the end, you will see a massive improvement with a good graphics car upgrade, because that 5570 that came with the Pavillion is only such in name alone and the actual GPU on it. By all other comparisons, it's complete crap - even a right and proper 5570 would trounce it. Such is the way with "boxed" PC's. A good graphics card can usually be found in the $150 price range (US dollars). It should have good reviews, good recommendations from other users (perhaps here on VG), and a good name brand. Be sure you don't need to upgrade that 500W power supply, or at least factor in that cost.

Charlie Squad; Fire Team 2 Castor lead us along the coastal road North, parallel to Lupago and Fire Team 1. Minimal contacts - took a long, cautious approach to SE AA camp, but suffered zero casualties as a result. This tactic would have been perfect, and safe against ACE AI, so do not think we took "too" long. We found the enemy SAM's unguarded and relieved their operators from duty before placing demo charges. Not long after, we heard reports of the General's demise and the subsequent fall of the Stronghold itself. Made our way to Extract Zone, and watched the Osprey's coming in en masse. Great game, very quick, but no doubt a result of our practices these past few weekends. ACE here we come!!! !2cool (on a side note - it's great to be playing Arma again with so many old friends - Murderface, Gaz, Calv, Jager, and the lot. Good times!)
