  1. http://joncom.be/code/css-clocks/ something like this? i really didnt get much out of my internet computing class since it was online, but jscript/html/css are pretty straightfoward. the worst part is the animation
  2. got my arma reinstalled, installing mods right now. Assuming i can get everything to work today, i'll try to make the event!
  3. SemlerPDX =VG= LAN_WROTE ... If they do get jailed, the first mission I will write for Arma 3 will involve players rescuing 2 photographers from the island, and delivering a bag of flaming dog poo to the doorstep of the idiot responsible. Hahaha, thats hilarious
  4. sign me up, for just like basic infantry or whereever you need more people. i have friday off so should be able to join. EDIT: yeah so apparently i have to be moved out of my house by friday and might have to sleep on a friends couch fora few days till i can move in..so uh i might be able to play, and might not :(
  5. you'd probably need to either look at your computer model's specs if its prebuilt, or open your case and try to look at the board itself. My board model comes up in the bios loading screen but thats because I built it, usually it'll load like an HP/Dell whatever screen when you boot up your computer. not sure if theres a tool to read the model of the board, probably exists somewhere
  6. yeah if you need any help there's quite a few of us now that have arma, so just ask around and someone should be willing to get you set up. Like murderface said, the main mods would be your ACE/ACRE, and JSRS/Blastcore visuals. ACE is basically a 'realism' mod, it adds lots of features to Arma that enhance its gameplay and add 'realism'. It mainly adds on to base game mechanics such as guns, health system, stamina, vehicles, and vehicle interactions. ACRE is a radio mod. If you've ever used Mumble for PR it's very similar concept wise. You connect ACRE to teamspeak, and your TS push to talk becomes local voice such as if you were talking normally. You then get a short radio to communicate with your squad up to about ~500 meters. Theres a few other radios for command/special teams that extend up to 5km, or more. The radios have working dials and buttons and its a nice way to add some realism to the communication. JSRS is a great sound mod, no real explanation needed. Blastcore visuals greatly enhances certain effects such as fire and explosions. A very good mod. If you havent yet, i would recommended downloading SixUpdater. It lets you make presets with different selections of mods, and you can even make presets tied to a server that has the mods you need to connect to it. It also installs mods for you and keeps them updated. A very good tool, but can be intimidating at first. As far as general maps and game types go: We have a server running vanilla Arma2 on a map called Insurgency. This is very similar to PR insurgency in deployment, but coop. You kill enemies for intel, which gives a vague location of a cache, which you then proceed to find and destroy. Lots of urban combat in this game type. There's another popular mission called Domination, which is more of a large scale operation including custom missions. These can be anything from occupying a town, to hunting a convoy or capturing an enemy CO. This is usually a bit more sandbox, with custom scripts to HALO jump anywhere on the map, the ability to requisition any vehicle, and such. Theres plenty of custom maps and missions as well, the ability to make custom missions is largely what makes Arma so great.
  7. yeah i saw some videos on most of these explosives but i dont ever get a chance to use them. i like blowing things up though so i should bring them with me. id love to play as insurgents and do things like IED ambushes but unfortunately it seems i'm always assaulting. i guess laying claymores at the flanks or back would be really useful for assaulting a compound and covering streets.

    New Computor?

at work ive been recommending nothing but intel. got a guy that only uses a computer for basic office shit to buy a laptop with an i7 in it, lol. he said he wanted something that would last a long time though so i guess it works.
  9. i work tomorrow. glad to hear that its full, should be a good mission
  10. im near this airport in Bolota, got a m16 acog and a ak74 and mp5 in my bag with no ammo for either. havent played in a week or so though
  11. i added a bunch of people but i think everyone is on the Europe servers :(
  12. i work 8-4 tomorrow, so I won't be able to attend. :( Seems like im going to be missing most of these events then
  13. Put me as a maybe, due to the fact that i cant seem to ever know when i'm available...
  14. i read through this once or twice, has some very good information that people should know. A lot of it such as movement, how to cover, how to stay active and search for enemies, is very important yet simple to grasp and would be quick to incorporate into your gameplay.
  15. im pretty sure having a server password has been brought up before, and its just a matter of pros vs cons. It limits the smacktards but at the same time it limits new players or lazy ones who arent going to come to the site and register just to play on the server. As far as general guidelines that I've seen while in squads and particularly while leading them: 1) Speak up. I can't stand when i'm leading a squad and no one has mics, yet alone wont type anything. it just makes it honestly a boring experience to play with 4-5 other people and silently wander around because no one is willing to speak up or participate. It's a team game, you go online to play with others, so why not communicate? I understand language might be a barrier, but i enjoy playing with people from other countries, even if i can barely understand them i think it makes it more interesting. When you have 5 people all communicating, spotting enemies, or just talking about random shit, it makes it much more enjoyable and your squad is more successful. 2) As yoda said, if you don't know what you;re doing, stay close, and stick with what you're told to do. Don't go wandering off to get shot or alert the enemies to your presence. If you are a new player, anything more than a general rifleman kit is likely to be detrimental to your squad if you dont know how to use it. Just having someone around that can shoot and cover you is more than I can seem to get out of most people. 3) Learn what a compass is, and how to effectively spot enemies. This one is sort of a rant, but I see many people especially in arma who yell something like "ENEMY MG RIGHT SIDE" over mic. It's great that they're trying to alert you, but what they dont realize is that the direction is completely useless and does nothing but confuse you while you frantically search for the RPK thats aimed at you. People don't seem to realize that the squad isnt always pointing the same direction as them (and they shouldnt be, in order to provide a wide visual range). All you have to do is hit the compass key for 1 second (or look at the bottom of the screen in PR) and you can give a very accurate location of the enemy. Your squadmates will be thankful that they know exactly where the enemy is and can return accurate fire. 4) Awareness. Along the same lines as number 3, being a good squadmember doesn't mean you have to be the highest scorer or have the most skill. Having basic awareness in the form of scanning for enemies, watching doorways and streets, keeping visuals on all sides of the squad, and just general awareness of what is going on around you will not only increase your survivablity but that of your squad. Many people seem to get tunnel vision and not see those flanking enemy troops that will make quick work of your squad. 5)Be supportive. Ok so most of this is is geared more to all the ARMA i've been playing lately, but it applies the same to PR. Be supportive to your squad. If someone goes down next to you, you better do your best to get them back into fighting shape, whether its reviving them, covering for a medic, throwing smoke to offer safe revive or to drag a wounded out of the danger zone (arma things). dont just stand around and say it's the medic's job. For all you know he could be lying on the ground himself somewhere. Along the same lines, if you're a rifleman, you better be supplying ammo to squadmembers as often as you can, especially to low ammo kits such as ATs and grenadiers(in PR). 6) Stay off the fucking vehicles unless you know what you're doing. This one is definately a rant, applies to both PR and ARMA, and is more or less the #1 method to get banned. The server rules have plenty of lines about not wasting assets and such, I know. But so many people see vehicles and their massive firepower and feel the need to destroy everything in sight. This is why many TKs happen, due to the heavy weapons and especially explosives that heaver assets carry. Many people do not realize that extreme caution must be used with heavy weapons, mainly to avoid casualties of friendlies. I feel that players attitudes towards heavy assets are not serious enough, and they neglect the caution needed, or fail to realize that vehicles and aircraft are there to SUPPORT infantry, not the other way around. A good way to learn the proper use of vehicles is to buddy up with a more experienced player, and ride in his vehicle. You can be the gunner of an apc, a copilot in a kiowa, or maybe a door gunner in a blackhawk. This lets you see first hand how the vehicle is operated and used without the risk of wasting the asset. For the trickier ones such as aircraft, id recommend watching tutorials and flying in single player until you are confident enough that you can transport troops safely, or effectively deliver munitions in a fixed wing. Specific to ARMA, I feel that players abuse assets such as A-10s to do things like level an entire village, when the infantry on the ground was going to spend time sweeping it and get to see some combat. Instead, they sit and watch the bombs drop then fly 10 minutes to another AO. Random CAS is not the right way to do things, an A-10 should only be called to deal with heavy armor or if a very large enemy force is present. Same applies to the MK19 humvees, you dont need to spray the entire village with grenades, blowing up everything and making it hard for the ground troops to hear what is going on. Drive down the road with them, and provide cover, not roaming on your own trying to level the whole AO. Honestly if people would just be serious about the game, and try to have a little fun with others, it would improve gameplay completely. Too many people dont have the seriousness or patience to play a more realistic game such as PR and ARMA, and it messes up everyone else's experience.
  16. about to give a pass to a friend, speak up if you want the other one.
  17. :( wish i couldve been there, i can abrely even play dota on this computer. at least fallout1 runs, lol! murder sounds cool man would be nice to have air support on call, id ont have much experience with harriers either, maybe i should mess around in the armory.
  18. sorry due to a very recent change of plans i'm heading home for the weekend and wont have a computer that can run ARMA. Sorry guys, i want to be there :(
  19. sorry i completely forgot to sign up for this. Put me in where ever is needed, ill do anything really.
  20. I dont know anything about how they shoot, but i do like the original models of each gun, theyre 2 of my favorites. The m14EBR looks interesting if you're into the whole modification thing but i think that the standard wood is just a nice classic look.
  21. yeah i was wondering the same thing actually, i thought he was just trying to zoom in but he actually goes and shoots the guy.
  22. oh man the underwater part is amazing. would be pretty cool to have that in a mission
