Working on this again today, from scrach. Will need a crash test dummie or two at some stage. @Rangers will be required aswell.

Aim of the fresh start is to drop the load that the mission puts on the server and clients. Removing a few bugs as well, I'll probably end up creating some more in the process though.

We are pretty much sold on the very high-resolution Rangers as our BLUFOR Team. Here's Poffadder (on left) and SavageCDN (on right) sporting the new skins. Note the new VG XML Profile Patch on Poffadder's shoulder (that's not photoshop - thats what it looks like in game!)

LOVE IT! I remember someone doing those tags (exactly same) with the player name once, we are they? we could use them as well!

characters too skinny to show in game, and they were incomplete with plenty of spelling errors - player names would require a separate squad xml for every single member. This is how it will be till we have a web plugin for it (think free public XML hosting for Arma players via website signup here). Patience...

MSO 4.5 has been released. They even have it on the new map Esbekistan. !guitarplayer

However, I'd like to give it a shot on one of the boxes for 1-2 weeks. I know we are working on edits and alternatives but I'd like to get some baseline gameplay experiance.

Phase 1:
I propose a NON-ACE variant such as " mso_32_a2co_coop_baf_usa_vs_tak_ins_gue_4-5.takistan ".

-NO personal edits of the mission.
-NO ACE/ACRE (for now)
-Public (no password)
-Persistant DB
-1-2 week test.

The goal is to understand gameplay and explore the missions viability in public play. Can we attract the casual player to a more seriuos game type?

Phase 2:
Then conduct a second public test with ACE/ACRE and look at activity and participation.

-NO personal edits of the mission.
-Public (no password)
-Persistant DB
-1-2 week test.

Phase 3:
Ultimately I would like to see a persistant =VG= variant running Clafghan or Esbekistan as ACE/ACRE.

-ACE/ACRE
-Custom =VG= edit.
-Custom map. (Clafghan/Esbekistan)
-Public (no password)
-Persistant DB (until game crash or BLUFOR win/lose)

The most important thing I want to get from this is how popular would this be to a public player. I want to see what kind of activity we can generate. Hence why I want a vanilla, non passworded server.

Gonna review the changelog this morning. Just FYI - it failed all feasibility tests back in August with rediculous server and client loads even in a best case scenario with barely any of the MSO modules active.

VG Edits were mostly cosmetic, i.e. we used @Rangers once or twice - maybe a map marker or other, not functional scripts or anything of the sort. My point - VG Edits were not the cause of the serious stuttering and lag problems most every player had, regarless of enemy numbers or civis On/Off.

For me, personally, I was not going to revisit MSO until the new Beta concept of a Headless AI Client became possible - either full, official BI patch or a clear system to implement.

Latest version released today with many performance optimizations. I've been in touch with HighHead (one of the MSO devs) and he has sent me a Headless Client version of MSO which I got working on my home server over the holidays. Unfortunately it does not work on a server running multiple instances of arma2oaserver.exe (so we can't run it on our dedi yet) but that will come once the bugs get worked out.

Anyway I'd love to try this again and get rid of the DayZ Lingor server.. any objections? Also Solar I might need a bit of mysql help at first if you can !yes
