Awesome first evening on the Insurgency map! Many villages cleared with a small crew; 19 people on when I left (@ 5:30 in-game/5am PST) We spent the evening clearing out the surrounding villages and outlying provinces. At dawn, we RTB'd for a little rest and some morning beer. (mmm...wheaties!)

Raven found this gem on Armaholics, been having a bit of fun with it. Dman and littletortilaboy popped in & checked it out with us. Like PR Ins on HGH! 5500 hits and 5 star rating: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=11934 From what I hear, it's well designed from a modding standpoint, and the map is very solid at this version .72 stage. Wanted your opinions if any are interested in running it or even just playing for a while. The changelog list under the description best describes the reasons this map is so sweet: Opfor drop intel briefcases; 5 hitmen per squad (4 squads of 5 soldiers); ATV's are quick-transports for displaced soldiers only (i.e. they disappear when you get off!); Deployable/Mobile HQ (M1130 Stryker, BABY!!); plus many more... Most of the server side controls have been move to client side, so Raven has been running it off his PC, and we all just join. No noticeable lag or anything, but we did only have 3-4 people connecting I believe. I think this would be a killer map with the VG community running it or playing it. There's around 6 servers running it that I see, but they are outside the US, a bit laggy for me in Oregon.

Teamspeak3 wont work when I run Free Falcon 5
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in Servers
No "X" that I can see...do I need to look at start menu bar to see that> or is it in the application window? (can't see start menu bar, only the app on the 2nd monitor - Alt-Tab don't work w/FF to show desktop for me) Worse than that, when I run a campaign mission, say OCA JDAM strike at a runway, the game stutters as I get closer to the sh@t, and when it unfreezes, all the input commands during the freeze-up (and sounds that were supposed to be playing) happen all at once. I've turned down my GFX adapter to 2x AA, no mip-mapping/v-sync/adaptive-AA, but when I lower GFX options in the game, the jet taxis like it's on grass. Plenty of configs to play with, but not sure which ones to dumb down so my controls are still readable - could care less what the ground looks like at this point. Is this a single-player mode problem? As in, if I wasn't "hosting" my own map, would I still be getting the FPS stutters when I get into enemy territory? Also, gonna uninstall the Hi-Tiles and see if that helps me. Can't wait to run a sortie now that I'm trained, but don't want anymore CTD's on a hairy BINGO RTB....all that wasted time!! -
Teamspeak3 wont work when I run Free Falcon 5
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in Servers
Full uninstall and reinstall of both FF5 and TS3 yesterday did NOT fix it. Been trying every little setting in both programs systematically....no go. At least I have the work around with the laptop. Reinstalled FF5 on a 3rd local HDD - wonder if it will achieve better load and frame times being on a separate SATA channel than the OS HDD's. Too tired and headachy to play games this past week, though...maybe it's a tumor See yall eventually -
Kudos, bro! Hope I can wrap up my training and join you guys soon! Rock on!!

I'll sign up for a specific day/time if you need to organize a full side of humans to test it. That may be the best approach to getting a large number of testers at once for a block of time. (I am truly sick of the standard PR Bot AI...been pullin ops in the world of ArmaII lately because of this)

Teamspeak3 wont work when I run Free Falcon 5
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in Servers
Yea, l've been trying the different variables, knowing that a full uninstall/reinstall of both programs may be the final solution. Polya makes it seem so simple, but it will only make sense in his fourth step, Looking Back. Gonna try your suggestions now, will post up any success. Thanks again! -
Teamspeak3 wont work when I run Free Falcon 5
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in Servers
I realize XP Pro has an option similar to Vista/Win7 in it's "RUN AS" command, but so far, it hasn't fixed it. Tried it for both TS3 and for FF5, and both at once (as ADMIN) - no go. If I activate my second monitor and put the TS3 window on it, and load FF5 on the other, I can see the blue light come on by my name, but I can't hear anything & not sure if anyone would be able to hear me. So--I can cue the mic (button \ is unused by FF5; but the sound is covered up/blocked by FF5 sounds. Less like a driver issue and more like a config issue with FF5. Gonna try a "-windowed" command line in the .exe & see if that does anything. All suggestions are greatly appreciated...thanks BLuDKLoT! -
been googling this for days, no luck/fix. Teamspeak becomes muted/speaker and mic/ when I load up either F4AF or FF5. Not exactly "muted" via action command, it's still running in the background, though ALT+TAB is a B to work in FF5 for me. Main effect I gotta fix is I can't hear TS3, can't press my MIC button to cue up, and cannot speak even if I set PTT to Voice Activation. I have all the latest patches & have configed for MP with VETS-GAMERS, thanks tyox and who cares! Maybe it has to do with all the key bindings for FF5, but why the "no audio" then? This thing has a killer config editor, and I'll delve into it blind/untrained if no one knows how to fix this. Luckily for right now, I can use my laptop and game computer at the same time, one running the game, the other, TS3 - but that's kinda lame. My (XP Pro SP3 32-bit) system specs are listed under my xfire profile (below) I run a very clean system in 2-disk RAID-0 (defragd/clean reg/full net port control) and have used TS3 with every other game on the same system just fine. Can't find any forum posts anywhere with this problem.

PR BattleRecorder: Do you ever do this on =VG= servers?
=VG= SemlerPDX replied to =VG= SemlerPDX's topic in PR Cooperative
Ah.. that sucks. Oh well.... -
I have been making a Muttrah City screenshot compilation and often times have to jump out of a heli & parachute (offline) to get the angles I need. Do you ever use BattleRecorder on your servers? Or could you enable it for a Muttrah City engagement at any time for purposes of screen shots or the making of a video? Perhaps as an event sometime? Not even sure if this request is feasible or possible. Had an awesome time with Orion last time we rolled on Muttrah, but footage was limited to our own POV's.
-
I've got F4:AF installed, and now patched. About the pre-FF5 "optionals", are they cumulative over to FF5, or should I not bother if my final goal is mainly to fly in FF5? Specifically with regards to the sound packs..
-
I pay for the 22mb/s plan, out of 3 tests they all came out @ ~60 DL!! but why only ~7 on uploads? Odd....

"We are not like other servers, where you can continuosly be ill behaved and negate the rules and get away with it. Our servers are great and popular because they are consistantly and fairly policed by admins that love to game enough to put their own game on hold to deal with smacktards so that other gamers playing can enjoy the experience as much as we do." -777deepinyoo This is why I like to play in =VG= exclusively. I may pop out for some instant spawn A-10 action when I'm burned out, but that's the equivalent of mindless idiocy, almost like live training with no communiction. In this server, because of the above quote, you can actually lose yourself in the action and really get into the mission. I feel that many newcomers to Project Reality Mod may at first not realize the scope of what's expected when they first join a PR server, and if it's =VG=, they may find themselves ousted before they can take it all in. Not that rules aren't clear, but when I came to PR .875 I was a vanilla nut, always playing medic or squad lead with little reference to PR when I first tried it. I would love to make some videos like "Uncle Sam Wants You for PR!" styled with a call to duty on =VG= servers with admins who are johnny-on-the-spot with keeping the game clean and fun. They could feature the use of com and teamwork that I see most every time I play on =VG= Coop. Just a though, if any are interested in collaborating.
-
I also would like to know exactly what order of what programs/mods to install to get airborne with =VG= in Free Falcon. Just got my TrackIR and looking to get into combat flight sim in a big way.

Had a feeling you knew what you are doing. I'm an Overclockers.net freak. Post your successes/outcomes here! Nice sys, btw

HUA. Fully re-briefed. Excellent Mortars explanation; am looking forward to better use of this devastating asset against those evil, bloodthirsty bots!
-
Definitely interested, man! I'd be glad to work certain maneuvers for film sake when possible, too. I can lead a squad on most maps* well. *mutrah, al basrah, jabal, (uhg,,,lashkar), kashan, rameil, op. baracuda, or karbala For reference sake, check the footage quality on my Stabbing SAM (youtube), if the quality is okay for your project, I can also take footage from different perspectives of the same action and send them to you somehow for your film. I get 30 FPS in footage when shot at half-size (original rez size is 1600x900) in FRAPS, but I suppose you have much better capabilities. Still, clever filtering of simultaneous shots can make for a good cut clip in an action sequence. Hit me up, bro!

@Kirkland I have had great success in overclocking the i series processors. The heat issue is far less than previous intel installments as shown above with his 30°C buffer after overclocking to 3.36 and has plenty of room before he hits the critical 90-102°C mark. Was wondering what your experiences have been so far with overclocking the i series processors that differs.
-
Of all the chips to ever come out lately, the minor increments in overclocking an i7 series seem to be most beneficial in an exponential sense almost entirely because of the number of cores. (except for Blacky's and the price vs. unlockable 4th core benefit, but for sheer power, i's rule, leaving AMD in the dust) This is based on plenty of building, research, and discussions with my friends at Fry's. You've already blown far past the stock speed of the 950, and that puppy screams at stock 3.06 on a Sabretooth X58 MB- wish I didn't have to sell that one, but I could never afford it how it was ordered. Your temps seem fine, and if you have a stable power supply, and as P95 is showing room for more OC, I would suggest you do go as high as you can with it. Though the chip is around $300, there is little need to be "safe"; There is, and you can quote me on this, barely any chance you will override the safety mechanism that kills the processor before it fries*. *This is assuming you didn't use some kind of "spread" method for your Arctic Silver, and all your other ducks are in line. i.e. power regulation, dust control, and heat spike control. Side note, I've been building for around 5 years, and love the new i processors. They may even break my addiction to AMD Blacky's. Lastly, this advice is based on respect for computing bottlenecks. I'll just assume you know so, but just a disclaimer so others can reference the term/concept. Seriously, don't get me started on "spread" method. Good luck, bro

I have an understanding of both sides of this argument. With regards to locked squads as a whole, I fully see why admins have this rule. It promotes team play, assists in removing the "7 one man squads" quagmire, and ensures mixed teamplay with all visitors. The point of being able to lock a squad would help keep too many players from joining a clearly limited squad, such as a recon/sniper team, or an attack heli team. The problem being, though a SL can kick a person from a squad, they can join back instantly it seems. If the squad is an airborne one, this can be quite cumbersome to deal with in a way which is not disruptive. Any rule or new rule can be hard to enforce, but clear communication regarding it is where you have the power. My opinion or suggestion would be something like changing the Green Rule from "no locked squads" to reflect the variant you want, such as "Only Fully Occupied Asset Squads May Be Locked" or perhaps, "Only Fully Manned Heavy Assets Squads May Lock" But these would negate the "sniper/recon" gripe. The ability to lock a squad for the first minute while SL requests certain members is another side of this argument I hear in game, but haven't seen posted here. This would allow an experienced SL to add a few regulars before allowing random public from rounding it out. This achieves a good mix of trained and trainees to better promote the body of knowledge in PR. I could envision two Green Rules for locked squads mixing the benefits of both sides of the argument. One allowing a Cobra Commander (lol) to lock his squad when filled, and one allowing squad locks for a short time after it's formation. Clarity in TEXT will alleviate the difficulty enforcing them. Art of War Ch. 9 V. 43-45 43. Therefore soldiers must be treated in the first instance with humanity, but kept under control by means of iron discipline. This is a certain road to victory. 44. If in training soldiers commands are habitually enforced, the army will be well disciplined; if not, its discipline will be bad. 45. If a general shows confidence in his men but always insists on his orders being obeyed, the gain will be mutual.

Not one to question why, just too many smacktards make it hard to do or die. Glad the voting is back, as a late night player, I felt bad for TheDay having to leave his game so often, only to find the smacktard got bored after so many TK's he left before being able to be banned. Which I'm sure sucked even more for TheDay's effort. I bet there is a reason Mutrah is the starting map, just never knew why. Not that I care, if it is to be, it certainly ain't up to me. By randomize, that means it's not always the same map that comes up next every time, right? And does Fools Road come up only rarely because of chance/conicidence? Server certainly resets more at night (to mutrah), perhaps this map is seen more during the day? A humble suggestion, along the lines of "regulating the people on mortars" - perhaps a Green Rule with a statement liike: "Mortars Must Communicate via Text with Teams" Just a quick example, I'd hope you would put proper thought into the statement, if such may make Mortars on your server cooler/more like support. Thanks for listening.
