Anybody filming?
That's a great idea Jersans. I'd love it if someone got footage of the Beirut map especially, that part where we have to span the broken sections of the bridge with support bridges it will be hilarious.
Double reckons its easy but I dont agree, took me an hour to put up two bridges and I lost at least four Logi's and two tanks attempting it...lol.

I ask the SL's to find new people and aim for having at least 5*6 man squads and not 3*8 man squads. This gives the commanders more room to play with there battle plans and tactics.
I think the biggest mistake we had previous event was the little amount of inf squads, this really limited our fast movement on the convoy and bunker raiding.
We had four infantry squads don't forget Blazer's squad, and there was still 6 places left on the server to create a six man team.

Is this something different to Melon's Event 2 or included?

I have the first round. i just didnt upload it because i was dead for 90% of it lol. i lost all the footage of the long round when my pc crashed. go to my yt channel to watch the 2 i uploaded. maybe later ill upload the embarrassing round lol.
Hey Captn that was awesome footage, I wasn't aware that you were videoing our squad, maybe if I'd known I'd have shut up a bit more...lol. Really good view for other squads who were involved with that game but on different assignments. Blazer's squad did a great job helping us to defend the FOB on Lashkar Valley too. Looking at the final Barracuda Map stats map, check out the total number of deaths for the team, very good KD. This event really was a lot of fun for everyone and I think it was a great thing to see the absolute team work that can be achieved when every squad is committed to a plan. Competition is one thing but team work is very satisfying.
Would love to see footage of the first map if you have it just to show how disorganized we were but I don't wish to embarrass or blame anyone.
Alpha Group members did everything I asked of them and more, thanks guys I'd run with you all again!

I was talking to Cst.Yang on the VG server, just now and he's interested in joining Melon's Event.
Amazingly he didn't know about it, and he's a handy pilot too.

EVENT DATE : Friday the 13th at 2100 GMT/PRT (or 9pm GMT)
Just checking my time-zone guys, and discovered a potential problem. If this event is planned for 2100 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), that means its 2100 or 9:00pm in England.
The VG server is based in Germany so does that mean we add another hour if a player lives in Germany?
If that's correct then I don't need to join the server until the next day at 7:30AM on the 14th because I'm in Australia.
Anyone care to confirm or disagree?

There's over 33 players who've racked up 1 million points on the VG server, where are the other squads?

Looks neat, Kav! It's gonna be awesome squad in the event-! Can't wait for Friday to come~
Wanted to suggest, some of these guys should be invited to our squad, if Rotblut's going for fly/drive assets (just couple random guys here as possible replacement, pick one of them if like/also PM them):
- SoldierOfMisfortune
- ALI.MORADI
- A.Deker
- Teejay001
- .Blizzard.
- Spartanish
- =VG= STARK (?)
There's a full squad right there! Pick another random and they have the makings of a great squad, Stark58 is the highest points scorer on the VG server, Teejay and SoldierOfMisfortune also great squad leads.
As TEDF suggested we should be inviting new players to our squads and not unfairly overloading squads with just the "Elite" guys. So I've got a few guys such as ArchTop and Eclipse002 who I've never played PR with.
BrokenArrow and Daniel75 are my buddies and the rest are from VG since I've been here.
Do we know how many INF squads are required on each map? 2-3 squads sounds a bit lite to me.

As of right now my squad is: PissBlitz (on all but one map), Xenalite, JCLA3114, Ryan TT, and SoggySpartan. Looking for at least two more to commit to all maps and one to fill in gaps as needed. Thank you all in advance.
Good to see Xenalite and Soggy locked in. Just to update on where I'm at with the other squad:
- InchPincherToo
- Rotblut - on maps he's not flying
- cptn_wonderful
I'm waiting to hear back from Faraday and Tom Sawyer, and several others.
Can we name our squad: Alpha Group please?

Lashkar only appears to be a tough nail to crack if we lose the Chinook and points 2&3. 5 will be a main battleground to start but if we lose it we can fall back to 2&3 and go full defense. If you ask me... But what do I know
One RPG and the Chinook is toast. I bet it happens.

The maps and premises are awesome. Thanks Melon!
Do we get a rematch if we lose?
The other maps are equally challenging but less risky if you ask me.
I won with my bot team on Lashkar Valley.

Until now I only seen Kavlenko actively asking me (and possibly others) how to finish certain maps with only a squad of 4. Even on maps I had never played before (goose green/soul rebel) . His openness to other people's way show off in the way he leads his squad in more then one way around the map with limited casualties.
I think plenty of SL's can learn from playing with other SL's for a round they often have trouble with. But this is there own choice to make.
You can learn a lot about the game by playing under different squad leaders, evaluating what you like and do not like and then doing you're own version or incorporating their ideas and strategies. To a certain degree we are all influenced by what we experience so playing in successful squads can improve your own game. Coming from a PR server with different settings and slightly different rules, I've had to adapt because those two factors affect the way the game can be played.
So yes, I agree with Double its never too late to learn from other SL's no matter how good you think you are.

Suggest spreading people around in different squads rather than creating an elite one. Otherwise we'll be stuck on constant loop where the elite squad has to bounce back and forth between the flags since other's aren't able to hold / attack them.
@Xenalite Everyone is welcomed to join. Just make sure you have the maps correctly installed by next friday .
I agree TEDF in fact I'm happy to lead a squad of new players if needed. Already its looking like we're going to get more than 8 players so if you want to join infantry either post here or message me.
Lets get a complete list of players who need a squad to join.
Please post your in game player name and preferred kit, - no snipers please. Perhaps WCCBadploy will run a recon squad for sniper fans??
I'm sure others will want to lead and create their own squads and that's fine but my post is more about providing a squad for those who may not be able to find one.
I'd love to run in Hater's squad because he's a ball tearing no nonsense squaddie, but its looking likely that we'll split into separate teams.

@Kavelenko @HaterOneActual can I just make one suggestion? A lot of great players don't frequent the website. So invite them in game.
Yep been doing that. Better still if it was advertised as a running banner in game this week that Melon's Event is on Friday and to access this page if players want to join up, that would reach a larger audience.

I will be running Infantry squads on all maps. Kavlenko and I are looking for 6 more to round out the squad. If you're interested message me.
Yeah this is an open invitation for anyone wanting to participate in an infantry squad, if we get more than 8 we'll just create another squad. Message me or Hater if you're interested.
cheers,
Kav

If you're not sure about about what time to be on the VG server in your country, you can use the GMT Time Converter:

Yeah thanks @Melon that was a lot of fun. We had a mumble malfunction which really screwed up the comms on IronRidge but the Beirut map was fantastic, that bridge making turned out to be rather difficult but the guys did a great job, Pity we didnt cap all the flags but we got close, Karbala and Bamyam were a bit too short, in hind sight perhaps more tickets for the Bots would have been better. But once again team work by all squads and commanders was excellent!
