    Crash to desktop or disconnect?
CTD, is indeed a problem if that was the case, but if it was just a disconnect which I recall you had a few, It comes down to how stable your internet is at any point in time, game constantly performs verification checks on game data, if it's unable to contact battle-eye even for a second, it kicks you out with verification failed. Which is why I disabled verification, after which I don't recall you had any issues.

No it was a complete computer crash, blue screen standby we're collecting shit for Microsoft etc. Definitely co-incided with that Battleye issue, which kicked me from the server but even then it never returned me to the ARMA launcher page, it just crashed the computer, the client didnt even get time to CTD lol. I've never had my laptop crash like this in any ARMA event before.

I took a screen shot of the error when it happened the first time.

  2. Hey JD,

Setting up the Cougar from what I have read is no easy task, probably because its such an old HOTAS and requires software to set things up.

The Warthog by comparison is virtually plug it in and way you go. So having Mokum there to help you through the process was fantastic.

I've attached my HOTAS layout for the Warthog which you could use as a guide in setting up your Cougar key binds.

  3. Today I was running a MECH INF squad on Pavlosck Bay STD, lasing targets for CAS while directing my squad, and it was successful. This idea that bombs dont lock on to lazed targets is incorrect. You need to get your timing right, and lase the target when CAS is on station. Not difficult at all. Communication with the CAS SL is also key because even telling them approx where the target is currently and which direction they are moving helps CAS set up for a decent run on the target. Its all about good comms, and there lies the problem.

Bijar std and lrg, Adak, Falcon alt, Hades alt, Black Gold lrg, and sometimes alt.

Those maps are nothing special, three decent infantry squads can handle any of those maps, and thats the real issue, too many new pilots jump into CAS and immediately over fly areas they're not supposed to go, no wonder they get hammered. You don't NEED CAS to win them, decent infantry backed up by armor is what's needed more than CAS. I never rely on CAS, if we have good CAS pilots its a bonus but they cannot cap flags, boots on the ground is what wins maps. Pure and simple. Why use TRANS if the choppers are being flown by in-experienced pilots, you wouldn't do that in real life would you?

Lasing is not difficult at all, but its not helpful if newbies are lasing targets when CAS aircraft are no where near them, I've seen plenty of that.

  5. What particular maps are you referring to? Flying CAS before the changes meant CAS whores would and did destroy most heavy asset targets before infantry could even get to the front-line, and people whinged about that. So now you want the exact opposite? Sure some CAS pilots do know their maps and how to use terrain and buildings to their advantage, are you saying newbies should be given a free hand to hover unopposed and just hammer away and ruin the team work?

If a server with 20-25 players cannot win a map, then its most likely due to bad team work, and disorganization. Making it easy for noob CAS pilots wont improve team work, we've already been there.

I cant think of a single map that is not winnable with 25 players who co-operate and communicate well.

I would also recommend you disable your TrackIR for the event... I saw the stream and it seemed you were struggling to hit anything quickly with it on. you would be much more effective with that off imo

Nah I was struggling to hit anything because I had a shotgun which is bloody useless for anything, except possums!

  7. Most of us suck at PvP because we play COOP all the time but now and again its nice to play this version of COOP. One thing it does highlight is the unbalanced nature of the COOP maps in terms of equal assets on the REDFOR side. It seems like BLUFOR has all the heavy assets on a map like Muttrah STD for example but I saw enough determined people on the REDFOR sides win quite easily.

Kashan Desert LRG is what I call "balanced" because both sides have lots of heavy armor, AAV, and aircraft (ssssh @=VG= Melon Muncher, we know you love this map lol).

  8. You play on the VG server you play by our rules, end of story.

Asset squads are for SPECIALISED USAGE, and NO INFANTRY should be playing in these squads!

Argue with admins about our rules and you will get removed from the server, end of story.

Insults against admins will result in a kick, continued aggression will get you banned

Read our rules and follow them, this is NOT negotiable.
