  1. Nice to hear from you Matey. See you soon!!
  2. Thanks for the explanation. I did not realise it was going to be so disruptive to game play. It was just a thought, anyway.
  3. Would it be possible to get the Command detonation option returned to the BLUFOR Engineer and Breacher? I know it is not available in Deployment, but COOP doesn't have to be the same. The current set up takes a key strategic option off the table that can be of vital tactical benefit, especially as a last resort. I have wished many a time on Mutrah, at North City, when we are over run by Armor to have that fall back plan to help clear the road. One never knows. It may prove so popular the PR Devs may reintroduce it to regular Deployment. Thoughts, Comments?

    FOB update

Ahhh... Them were the days. Steamrolling over the enemy with so much back up and squad interaction. When we first started way back when, there was such tight cooperative team play, we only had to worry about not ending the round too early!! If tweaks like this help bring back the spirit of direct team work it can only be a good thing. After all nothing ventured, nothing gained, ay?
  5. Its your birthday, Its your birthday, many happy returns!!

  6. Well Done TEDF and all who took part. Pity I couldn't make it, due to prior commitments. Nice one on the videos. Here's hoping the follow up event is even better!! Onwards and Upwards, Guys!!
  7. TEDF is on the money. VG servers expect the best from any one looking to lead a squad. It is imperative that they take the welfare of the whole squad into consideration when making decisions of who stays and who goes. In direct combat there is sometimes no time to be "nice". It can be a split second between losing the advantage and achieving ones objective. A judgment call is needed in most cases . After all it may sometimes need a kick for some folks to get the message. Regarding Mic or comms use, I am with TEDF on this 100%. I hark back to the heyday of the WCC in the early "00s", when we had a great player called "Asabit" We never heard him/her on TS or in game but we always saw his/her team supporting action and text in the thick of the fight on BF 1942 Desert Combat Mod. I have since seen many others with similar attributes in my gaming adventure. I never usually reserve slots. I think it is best to let every player get a chance to be part of what I do. It is not for everyone and as folks drop out others make it in. If the motivation of the player is to support the squad/team then they usually do not need any prompting or micromanagement. Asabit, where ever you are, Rock On Mate!!
  8. Howdy Matey, How's it going?

Great!! Charting new territory with 3D printing and VR tech along with the day job.

Good call on the Admin confirmation criteria. Some times folks miss the point of it all.

Thanks for keeping the faith and being the lynch pin of this great community.

See you in game some time!

I was working with an architects practice that used 3D printers for modelling trees for their large models. Interesting stuff. I've since left to become a full time network engineer.

The people that make up the community make it easy to keep the faith :). Every once in a while people might need to be nudged in the right direction, but the community runs its self due to the people that are a part of it.

Hopefully I can join everyone on the field sooner rather than later!

  9. Welcome to the Community KayBee. Great stuff there Matey. You did a splendid job in the roles you chose. That's the first positive thing I noticed about you. Your seeking to be involved in our community is another. It is always a pleasure to play and work with other dedicated team players. I hope like many of us, with the same disposition, you find your gaming home and roots here in the VG Universe.
  10. Great and challenging maps TEDF. A worthy and creative set of scenarios made for dedicated teamwork. I hope you will continue to push the boundaries of team work and cartography to the very edge, as much as you can. Changing the primary weapons to short range SMGs was a stroke of genius!! Here's looking forward to the next Event. The fact that many were motivated and confident, after the event, to migrate to a deployment server was interesting and unexpected.
  11. Great report there Matey. Good Work to all who turned up to participate. I must commend Melon for a job well done and long may he continue to be a shining beacon of cartography for this great game.
  12. How did it go, Guys? Apologies. I was around to get stuck in at the time of commencement... Then the phone rings... The Oculus Rift Dev Kit we had been waiting, for over a month to arrive, had been delivered at work, EARLY!!! We only have it for a week of testing for computer specs... Let's just say I did not get home until 2am. I can't wait to see PR and other classic games ported to VR Technology!!
  13. Howdy, Matey, How are you doing?

      Greetings General,

      All is well.

      No, thank You, Sir.

It is an honour to be part of such a dynamic and community spirited Group.

I hope one day we get some game time on PR.

Ive been trying to update but I get error saying updates can't be reached or something like that. I might have to reinstall.

  14. Well Done Melon. I will be there on the day. I can see from your cartography this is going to be exciting!! I look forward to seeing you all out there. I am up for any supporting role that is required to get the job done.
  15. I Remember all the "Digital Soldiers of Excellence" I have had the pleasure to serve with. A big Thanks to all of you for making game time, fun time extraordinaire!!
  16. Thank you Matey, For the kind words and platitudes. But like another regular said, "I only bring what I have and add it to a fantastic team oriented environment, where there are exceptional "digital soldiers" who make us ALL look Good!" My WCC Colleagues and I will always be eternally grateful to the =VG= Clan. It is a rare thing to find others out there with the same philosophy and outlook on how to build and sustain great gaming communities. And I am sure you will all agree that =VG= is the Gold Standard!! Long may it Continue!! Oh! And I know that we have the Best Commander-in-Chief in 4 Star General SemlerPDX.
  17. Happy 7th Birthday!!

Haa haa!!! I thought that would get you here. Have a great week and see you out there.

  18. Great stuff Melon!! It was a great experience and a joy to see folks working closely together. The bridge build on Beirut was challenging to say the least. Any chance we can have fewer spans out next time?
  19. Join the back up "Fire Team". Lets save the day!!
  20. Here is an open invitation to join a Fire Team/Rescue Squad that can be sent out by the Commander for support and emergencies. It will require patience and focus on the mission objective given. Heck, you may not see any action all round if the rest of the team is doing an excellent job!! But it can be a good morale booster knowing that they have back up they can trust. With the long wait for kits and resources it may be a smart plan to have a back up team swoop in and rescue fallen units or retrieve key kits. No formality necessary, just sign up on the day. We are, after all, a "classified" branch of the War effort!! LOL!!
  21. Same logistics support role as last time for me. Looked a little more at the tactics that will be needed. Especially after the surprises that Melon had in store on the last event!! LOL!!
  22. All I can add to what ZZANG1847 & =VG= SemlerPDX wrote is the suggestion that you start small. Join or lead a squad. Like it has been mentioned, focus first on the small team building roles. Get to know the Pros and Cons of working with different types of players. Adopt support roles, e.g, run APC/vehicle transport, medical support, rescue & recovery, logistics, perimeter defense, etc. There are specific Events like the ones being put together by TEDF and Melon. Be ready to participate in them. Given time, if you are consistent, observant, supportive and trusted, being commander will be just another role and skill set in your tool box. See You out here Soldier!!
  23. Greetings and welcome. PC gaming is a very extensive area of interest. Many of us play not only the new releases but a lot of "ancient" legacy games too. Please pop on Teamspeak if you can. I suggest downloading the Project Reality Standalone so you can join us in game. Come and experience a whole new level of cooperative game play.
