  1. We had four infantry squads don't forget Blazer's squad, and there was still 6 places left on the server to create a six man team.
  2. Is this something different to Melon's Event 2 or included?
  3. Alpha Group is ready to deploy to any destination, thanks Melon. Officer Kit - Kavelenko Medic 1 - Daniel_75 Medic 2 - JohnnyTightLips Breacher Kit - Stark58 Automatic Rifleman - deathdealer203 Lite Anti Tank Kit (LAT) - =VG= Eclipse002 Grenadier Kit - Vamsley Heavy Machine Gunner (HMG) - ArchTop Alpha Group will accept randoms on the day of the event if any of our players are unable to attend.
  4. Hey Captn that was awesome footage, I wasn't aware that you were videoing our squad, maybe if I'd known I'd have shut up a bit more...lol. Really good view for other squads who were involved with that game but on different assignments. Blazer's squad did a great job helping us to defend the FOB on Lashkar Valley too. Looking at the final Barracuda Map stats map, check out the total number of deaths for the team, very good KD. This event really was a lot of fun for everyone and I think it was a great thing to see the absolute team work that can be achieved when every squad is committed to a plan. Competition is one thing but team work is very satisfying. Would love to see footage of the first map if you have it just to show how disorganized we were but I don't wish to embarrass or blame anyone. Alpha Group members did everything I asked of them and more, thanks guys I'd run with you all again!
  5. Haha how embarrassing with this be?!! I hope you got footage of the first map that was a complete F&*% Up..lol. We got better as the games went on.
  6. I was talking to Cst.Yang on the VG server, just now and he's interested in joining Melon's Event. Amazingly he didn't know about it, and he's a handy pilot too.
  7. Hi Commander TEDF,

I've read your battleplans for Lashkar Valley and Ramiel, and advised my squad to read it and commit to memory.

If you have any more details to pass on to me, as per your post, I'd be grateful to receive that.

I've done a bit of recon on all maps, and was wondering about how the Chinook is going to take off and land if the Lashkar FOB is under a major attack.

Flying back to the FOB in the Chinook I felt a bit vulnerable coming into the FOB directly from the N - NW.

I'm sure you've probably taken this into consideration but we may need to give the all clear before they come back to the English FOB.

Otherwise I have nothing to add at the moment. Will brief the guys and pass on any relevant feedback.

My email address if you wish to send an attachment is:  sea_eagle@chariot.net.au

    cheers,

    Kav

Best route in my opinion would be to go hard left from the FOB and up the valley, hug the left side of the map and shield themselves with the mountains.

Area around the main is completely open so it's super easy for the Pilot to spot if the area is full of little moving dots when coming in. From what I can tell, the bots seem to be only interested in NE / E side of the base and don't go other ways, giving the pilot a perfect little mountain corridor from NW side to use for rapid take offs / landings. The idea is for the pilot to take- and fly off as quickly as possible. Going directly towards West means that he would have to climb the mountains over there and If he is to remain to gain altitude over the main, then there's a high chance that he'll get shot down since AI has around 99,9% accuracy against choppers that are less than 200m off the ground.

At the beginning of the deployment we do not have the time / luxury to have defensive squad set up prior to take off. Deployment of Hater's and Double's squads must be done quickly and without any delay.

Since there aren't any other vehicles on our team, we can use the AI mechanics to our advantace, meaning that the pilot has around 4-5 seconds to land / take off before any of the RPG guys become a threat. After the initial deployment, it is up to the Pilot to keep the bird safe using whatever means are neccecary.

There are many loopholes that are done / left on purpose in the plan to keep the map interesting. If we wanted to have a boring easy-win round then all we would have to do is to deploy everyone in the main, poke the guns out of the bunkers and pew-pew-pew for the next hour or so. My main idea was to set up different checkpoints and FOBs on / around other flags and then, depending on the situation, maybe simulate the evacuation of the FOB base so the bots can take it and progress on to other flags.

Sorry TEDF I didn't mean to say turn left into the mountain but was looking at the valley corridor to the NW off the FOB, which is the same one your path uses on your map, the only difference is that I would be hugging the left side of the map once I got through that valley. So yes I agree the first few minutes should be safe but I was looking at the return journey and subsequent flights in and out of the FOB. Depending on how many bots are attacking the base at any time, it would be pertinent to keep the communications up as to whether it was safe enough to land. As  you say its going to be critical for Double and Hater to establish FOBS, and not lose the Chinook early. Looking forward to those maps, at least you have a battle plan which is excellent!

  8. Thanks for confirming that guys. I set two extra clocks just in case...lol.
  9. EVENT DATE : Friday the 13th at 2100 GMT/PRT (or 9pm GMT) Just checking my time-zone guys, and discovered a potential problem. If this event is planned for 2100 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), that means its 2100 or 9:00pm in England. The VG server is based in Germany so does that mean we add another hour if a player lives in Germany? If that's correct then I don't need to join the server until the next day at 7:30AM on the 14th because I'm in Australia. Anyone care to confirm or disagree?
  10. There's over 33 players who've racked up 1 million points on the VG server, where are the other squads?
  11. There's a full squad right there! Pick another random and they have the makings of a great squad, Stark58 is the highest points scorer on the VG server, Teejay and SoldierOfMisfortune also great squad leads. As TEDF suggested we should be inviting new players to our squads and not unfairly overloading squads with just the "Elite" guys. So I've got a few guys such as ArchTop and Eclipse002 who I've never played PR with. BrokenArrow and Daniel75 are my buddies and the rest are from VG since I've been here. Do we know how many INF squads are required on each map? 2-3 squads sounds a bit lite to me.
  12. Alpha Group Kavelenko [SL] InchPincherToo cptn_wonderful Brokenarrow =VG= Eclipse002 ArchTop Daniel75 RotBlut (replace with random when flying)
  13. Good to see Xenalite and Soggy locked in. Just to update on where I'm at with the other squad: InchPincherToo Rotblut - on maps he's not flying cptn_wonderful I'm waiting to hear back from Faraday and Tom Sawyer, and several others. Can we name our squad: Alpha Group please?
  14. One RPG and the Chinook is toast. I bet it happens.
  15. You can learn a lot about the game by playing under different squad leaders, evaluating what you like and do not like and then doing you're own version or incorporating their ideas and strategies. To a certain degree we are all influenced by what we experience so playing in successful squads can improve your own game. Coming from a PR server with different settings and slightly different rules, I've had to adapt because those two factors affect the way the game can be played. So yes, I agree with Double its never too late to learn from other SL's no matter how good you think you are.
  16. I agree TEDF in fact I'm happy to lead a squad of new players if needed. Already its looking like we're going to get more than 8 players so if you want to join infantry either post here or message me. Lets get a complete list of players who need a squad to join. Please post your in game player name and preferred kit, - no snipers please. Perhaps WCCBadploy will run a recon squad for sniper fans?? I'm sure others will want to lead and create their own squads and that's fine but my post is more about providing a squad for those who may not be able to find one. I'd love to run in Hater's squad because he's a ball tearing no nonsense squaddie, but its looking likely that we'll split into separate teams.
  17. Yep been doing that. Better still if it was advertised as a running banner in game this week that Melon's Event is on Friday and to access this page if players want to join up, that would reach a larger audience.
  18. Yeah this is an open invitation for anyone wanting to participate in an infantry squad, if we get more than 8 we'll just create another squad. Message me or Hater if you're interested. cheers, Kav
  19. If you're not sure about about what time to be on the VG server in your country, you can use the GMT Time Converter: https://greenwichmeantime.com/time-gadgets/time-zone-converter/
  20. Thanks for the clarification TEDF, I'll direct the protesters to this page.
  21. Hi Guys, As you all know there are bot assets on most maps that can be flown, and from talking to other admins in TS the consensus seems to be that we are supposed to kick players who continue to use these assets. I was wondering whether this a definite rule or something we think is a good idea. Another question is how long will this rule need to be enforced? I find myself arguing with players a lot about whether or not they can use these bots. The current rules do not mention bot asset usage as being a kickable offence (as far as I can ascertain). Otherwise I am happy to kick offenders as required. cheers,
  22. I can answer this part, there's a PDF under Docs\Checklists & Cockpit Diagrams\A-10 Cockpit Diagrams named 3D cockpit A-10 Ramp Start.pdf. Its a four page document 44 point checklist, with three screenshots of the cockpit showing the steps. Its not as detailed as the ramp start in DCS in my opinion but at least BMS has one for the A10. I used it for the first training session TR433_01_Ground_Ops which uses the A10. I followed that quite well but I noticed my throttle controls were not mapped to BMS by default, whereas in DCS World they are. I'm going to do what Brain suggested and create two profiles, use the default BMS full keyboard layout and leave it unmodified, but try to create two different profiles with the TARGET software for the A10 throttle panel, and another one that suits the F-16. The TARGET software requires a reference to a keyboard stroke or combination so that should be easy enough to map across to my two profiles. Theoretically.
  23. Hi Everyone, I've been mucking around with my TM Warthog Throttle and Stick for the past two weeks trying to set up a decent config for BMS 4.33. I have a pair of TFRP T.Flight Rudder Pedals arriving anytime soon , as well as a TrackIR head tracking kit. So from what I can confirm thanks to Brain is, the Warthog joystick is pretty much identical to its predecessor the Cougar. But the throttle for the Warthog is quite different and so when you are flying an F-16 most of the switches on the lower panel are not relevant, consequently I see setups where people are using these buttons and switches to do carry out different tasks. But there is no consistency. So what I would like to do is to create two profiles using the T.A.R.G.E.T. software available from TM for free at their site: HOTAS Warthog Throttle and Joystick software & manuals and HOTAS Cougar Throttle and Joystick software, manuals I've done a ramp start for the F-16 and the A10 in BMS4.33 and they are quite different so I thought perhaps I could create a profile for each jet? So as explained previously, the joystick configuration for each fighter should be the same. The throttle setup for the WartHog will map directly to the switches and buttons as per the ramp start for A10s. That brings me to the keyboard configuration with all the Shift, Alt, and Ctrl key combinations. Guys what would the BMS4.33 Full keyfile be the best keyboard base to start with or did you guys do something different? It would be good see what everyone in BMS is using for their keyboard setup, if you dont mind sharing that info.
