.SUGAR. Posted December 13, 2019 at 07:21 AM Report Share Posted December 13, 2019 at 07:21 AM Recently I was thinking about the maps on which we have been playing for a very long time and decided to find some other maps on which to play in co-op. Searches were successul and I managed to find several maps on which to play as part of the EVENT. Some of them may already be known to you from the original Battlefield 2, some of which you yourself may accidentally found. I selected few of them that would be interesting to play. The list is here: 1. Al Sbeneh(Base defence) 2.Airport 3.Borovsko Bridge 4.Daqing Oilfields 5.Goods Station 6.Gulf of Oman 7.Hills of Hamgyong 8.Inishail Forest 9.Karkand 10.Zatar All these maps are available at next link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1EIPoGfLcN3l3sPAdszZoKZp0E2eFQ1bS To install them you should drop all files from Map folder to Project Reality folder/mods/pr/levels/ I runned all these maps and seems like they are available for actual gameplay, so that why I suggest to make with these maps a event like "good old days maps" or something like that.

=VG= SemlerPDX Posted December 13, 2019 at 06:34 PM Report Share Posted December 13, 2019 at 06:34 PM +1 for Strike at Karkand - was my fav before I found PR Mod... PvP, waiting out the "arty" nade spam, then rushing the lines or attempting a flank... tons of fun! Would love to see how they work with Bots. If we could get some more eyes on this and test some stuff out to make sure it is indeed feasible to run as an event, we can make that happen! Love the idea of an Old School Maps event!! Good lookin, bro 2

I installed these and they worked fine on my lappy no problems. Maps like Gulf of Oman bring back fond memories in BFP4F, same map but the weapons were a whole lot better. Why couldn't we run these maps in an event as PvP? That would be a lot of fun right there. That Oman map is pretty much identical in layout to the one in this video, the recoil on that SKS was a sonofabitch lol. .

=VG= Kavelenko Posted December 18, 2019 at 01:10 PM Report Share Posted December 18, 2019 at 01:10 PM Meh getting head shot is fun but if the bots were removed and we played PvP that would be awesome. You're right we did those maps back in 2017, Don't know how easy it would be to turn off the bots though.
=VG= SemlerPDX Posted December 18, 2019 at 08:23 PM Report Share Posted December 18, 2019 at 08:23 PM Not personally interested in hosting a PvP event, but no reason we can't try something. The only concern I have is that in 2017, PR was in a different version, and AFAIK, maps need to be updated for current version, and in the past, this meant re-doing the AI pathing / navmesh. If anyone knows more about this technical side of things, please post up. We can make this happen.
TEDF Posted December 18, 2019 at 09:23 PM Report Share Posted December 18, 2019 at 09:23 PM Not much has changed since 2017, so the maps in that mappack should all still work. Pathfinding should be hardcoded, so it will work on any map that has it, even if the map was originally made for bf2, so that won't be an issue. The only issue with old bf2 maps will be some of the statics that may be outdated, which would have to be changed, but otherwise all of them should work fine. I personally don't really see any point in working on them until 1.6 rolls out as all the work would have to be done over again to compensate the changes. As for turning off the bots, that's relatively easy. Can either have bot count at 0 or just convert it over to AAS.

Agreed, little point in doing all of it again.

And how can you test that? just play the map local?

I'm sure somewhere in the deep layers of PR dev cave, there's a program that will detect them, but the stone-age way of doing it is just running the game in debug mode, checking the log after crash and removing / replacing the things that cause crash. For example on vBF2 midnight sun, there's a flagpole that doesn't exist in PR and will crash unless it's removed. Fortunately the amount of objects that crash is low. The max I've encountered was 4-5 on a single map. Will have to see what changes 1.6 brings
