I've been missing for a while, has everyone gotten new mods installed or are we still running off of vanilla? I'd be down to join, but I'm not sure of when the time is either. Is that on the event calender?

Castor =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Fireteam 1. immediately after touchdown our machinegunner informed us of a problem on his Sound system, he could only hear TS, I decided to keep him on but stay on a supportive role in the mission, however after taking heavy losses at RP1 (we lost sam, our MG) we had to step up, the mission was confusing to us until we moved from the RP1 to 2nd AA position. there we were ambushed by 2 enemy LMGs and a couple riflemen luckily Fireteam 4 aided us and we took only 1 casualty and 2 wounded. By this time the rest of the fireteam 3 had emerged with us. after dealing with the ambush we took out enemy Tunguska, we got ambushed again and lost 100% of our manpower. I think we did pretty good Castor, considering the technical difficulties we encountered. We survived 2 ambushes and took out one of the main objectives by using just the buddy system. Definitely a lot of fun, really looking forward to doing this again.

I will be there for sure!

Sign me up as well!

Melon Muncher =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Kokan for example... ...again using Kokan as an example... shameless self advertisement. Just kidding.

When you consider how many hours players like deadbyd4wn and nwm put into our servers, you can tell that they've tried just about everything and know each map extensively. I was talking to dead about his qwai river strategy and told him "man, this is too easy" to which he laughed and agreed. It was a new strategy that he always wanted to try out to give all the players who play regularly a fresh take on the same maps. I'm not saying that setting up in front of enemy vehicle spawns and setting up a TOW is right, but I appreciate the variety of tactics that good SL's come up with to keep the game fun. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I agree that tactics should be employed for the purpose of keeping the game fun, not to win decisively and as fast as possible (although this can be fun). Fun is subjective, but in my humble opinion, admins shouldn't be the one determining how the game should be played, even if their intentions are to keep the atmosphere fun. I leave it up to the players, both good and bad, to come up with their own ideas of how they want to have fun. I only reach out my long arm of justice when someone really steps out of line and directly violates a clear rule. I'm sure everyone likes to be useless every once in a while (crewman kit on kozelsk anyone?).

I think I can, but I might have this volunteer thing at the same time, the time is good though.

if you hold ctrl, you can use your mouse to rotate the C-130 to the direction of your choosing. Then left-click and you should be good.

YES PLEASE. I'm having some trouble with Six Updater (as in, I have no idea how to do anything).

If they crash or waste assets because of it, then I would kick, but sometimes flying through the streets of Muttrah is a must (A-10 at south bunker is just stupid), if south AA spawns and I'm in a bad location to run and dump flares. Occasionally if I'm out of AGM's and south AA needs to be taken out fast, I fly through the streets till I reach the T-building that has the AA, pop up over the lip, and unload hydras. I think its practical for me, but I really don't trust many pilots to do this without crashing. If they just hover around and bother the inf, I guess it would be a minor form of griefing (disrupting gameplay). It really depends, I guess?

Joined in a little late, but had a lot of fun during the time I was there. I learned a lot, and the scope of the game is just eye-popping.

Played some PR: Vietnam today, and man it was GREAT. Hueys have a radio built in so you can play classics like Fortunate Son while flying. Great stuff.

I've been really really really interested in this for a while, but I don't know if I can ever learn all of this by myself. I've been teetering on the fence on whether I should get a Track IR which I know I'll need for anything flight sim. related, but my confidence (after seeing the 371 page manual) has kept me from purchasing and trying it. If I ever did learn this, I have a feeling that I'd be hooked on all things flight sim-related for years to come.

Great, I'll try and make it! I'm pretty new to ARMA still, so bear with me.

Where was the old server located? Just curious.

Hah. Technically 69 at the end of the round. If only that merkava didn't have anti-air capabilities...

Terremer =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Fastjack =VG= LAN_WROTE ... If u want , all kits can have an incendary and parachute. NO ONE need smokenades because they doesn't help vs bots. make a clone of the incendary and give it the itemindex of the smokenades. !gamer this is actually a great idea, removing smoke from all kits except the officer in coop would be good to stop people throwing it all the time. incendiary would be good i guess but people seem to not know that it only goes 1 foot when you throw it and drop it at the feet of the entire squad.. its happened more than you think. What if officers had the incendiary kit, it makes the most sense of instead of having to grab an AR everytime (although you should probably already have one in the squad.) But if you're in a 3 man squad (medic, rifleman, officer), there should be an officer in the squad.

Yeah, you're right, there just aren't enough maps with logistics. Seeing how few people actually have the map pack, I doubt many would download the update.

While I really really like the increased teamwork a few of these options require, the sad thing is, only the same tight-knit group of people will be able to adapt to these changes well. While I would like to be optimistic and hope that the changes to the server would force "bad players" to start playing well, the harsher reality is that players might leave the server in hope for an "easier" gaming experience (coughRWcough). I think certain things should be kept the way they are just to avoid frustration with new players/bad players, such as spawning on SL, spawnpoints on forward flags, and maaaybbee instabuild assets. One of the frustrating things on deployment is when the opposite team spawncamps a FOB instead of destroying it, and the only spawn option is main and hope for some kind of transport. A lot of people play co-op because of the faster pace and the guaranteed action, and having no spawnpoints would really limit gameplay (this is assuming the worst case scenario where no one really knows what they're doing). HOWEVER! I really support the idea of no building assets unless you have a crate, because it would increase the "play-time" of many trans helos, and give logistics an actual reason to exist. I don't think that not being able to build assets without a crate is as debilitating as having no spawnpoints, because generally the people who build the assets are SL's who should know what they're doing. One can only hope that the people running the logistics squad can drive a truck or fly a helo. I'm all for increasing the scope and dimensions of the game, but I'm just afraid not everyone wants that. Deployment C4 is awesome though. Please and thank you (maybe nerf combat engineer a little bit if he's packing that much heat).

Jump in the blackhawk, fly to a T-building, drop a crate on the roof, grab a medic, rifleman, and AR, and DEFEND.

lupago =VG= LAN_WROTE ... Man is completely impossible I can run that on my PC. xD Sigh. Same here.

I was just wondering if anyone knew whether guns and vehicular weaponry for different factions actually cause different amounts of damage. For example, how many rounds from an AK would it take to shoot down a huey (if you shot it in the exact same spot), and how many rounds from an M4, etc. I'm guessing that every weapon either has an individual damage value attached to it or weapons are grouped in categories (assault rifles, pistols, light machine guns, sniper rifles, etc.). I know for a fact that some weapons that are in the same category have very specific properties (for example, the AT-4 is VERY different from an RPG), but does the same hold true for things like frag grenades and bullets? The same goes for vehicles, should HEIT rounds and all other types of rounds from all apc's do the same exact amount of damage and splash? (amount of ammo is different, but the damage?) I guess another question attached to this is whether vehicles in the same category have the same health value (how many shots does it take to take down a cobra, havok, apache?) I think weapon accuracies are different, but I'm not too sure. I feel like certain weapons are more accurate/powerful than others, but that may just be my bias toward certain guns.

Oh, I meant that time-limit bans would only be given by admins who witness the bad-intentioned teamkilling. We still need more admins on for this to work, its just that they should be a little more strict to those who are determined to be bad for the server.
-
Maybe we could change the types of punishment that are dealt to people who deliberately break the rules. Instead of having more admins on to continually kick players, we could have time-limit bans (2-day bans, week-bans). If there are no admins on and a team-killer gets kicked for being punished 3 times, they normally just re-join and start it up all over again. People come onto the server because they want to play. Whether they want to play fairly or in the spirit of teamwork is a different thing altogether, but an effective way of punishing any player with bad-intentions is to simply not let them play. If they go to a different server because they were week-banned or something of the sort, then that's fine, as long as its not on this server. I also find melon's "remove the tags to peek at what's going on" tactics to be very effective. Just my 2 cents.
