=VG= SemlerPDX Posted May 25, 2012 at 04:22 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2012 at 04:22 PM I asked that same question about the 1911 .45, and all the shooters up where I go camping told me I'd be best off with an original Colt 1911 - as in old, original, from the era (in good condition). Terremer Posted May 25, 2012 at 04:25 PM Report Share Posted May 25, 2012 at 04:25 PM I dont know anything about how they shoot, but i do like the original models of each gun, theyre 2 of my favorites. The m14EBR looks interesting if you're into the whole modification thing but i think that the standard wood is just a nice classic look. Guest Guest plymike Posted May 25, 2012 at 10:28 PM Guest Report Share Posted May 25, 2012 at 10:28 PM My granddad qualified as a pistol marksman in 1973. Was then put on a professional hand gun team and taught everything you could possibly think of that was even remotely related to pistol marksmanship. He retired a Buck Sergeant he has been to a lot of places in the military, always carrying a Colt .45. But when he got back to the states and started experimenting his favorite became Kimber. He recommended to me a Kimber .45 custom II. But any of their full sized hand guns sound great from the rumors I hear. This company started producing in 1996 but quickly became popular pretty quickly because of their quality. As for the M-14.. No idea lol

=VG= SemlerPDX Posted May 26, 2012 at 03:34 PM Report Share Posted May 26, 2012 at 03:34 PM Some dude named Trent had a Kimber .45 this last summer. I didn't like the look of it (it barely resembled the Colt 1911). Had a rubberized hand grip and all that. You've seen my replica 1911, right? =VG= OniBlood1986 Posted June 23, 2012 at 04:23 AM Report Share Posted June 23, 2012 at 04:23 AM RIA 1911 tactical/Springfield GI 1911/Kimber/FN/SIG/Para/ All have 1911's in all sorts of calibers. I owned a RIA 1911 and was a damn good shooting pistol. Springfield GI 1911 is the next in line for cheaper hard working pistol. The others are all gun porn, I talked to some ATF agents that had kimber's (this is in NC) they had lots of problems with the kimber custom 2's and went to SIG. Now on to the M-14 , m-21, Socom 14. These guns for some reason cost a arm and a leg, Like most rifles chambered in .308 (for example G3, FAL) your going to spend anywhere from $1200-$2000 on a decent semi auto .308 caliber rifle. If you find a legit m-14 under $1000 then take it to a gun smith and have them check it out.
