  2. I remember spending an unhealthy amount of hours on BF 1942 demo because it was so much fun playing on Guadalcanal, flying zeros and doing bomb runs on tanks. Then BF2 demo came out and I spent so much time playing as a commander and raining artillery on enemy spawn when I spawn trapped them...... I should've bought those games back then, given how much I've spent playing demos, but I was young and poor so it wasn't really an option for me at the time.

When the BF3 trailer finally dropped, I immediately pre-ordered the game (which is the only time I've ever pre-ordered in my life) and played unhealthy amount of hours to the point where people I was playing against started messaging me on Xbox live with insults like "Do u even have life bro."

    1.png.a1b276d7d7a81fa26cbcb344470369c4.png

(As you can see, I did indeed have no life back then lol)

When BF4 came out, I was rather disappointed with the direction they were going while playing Beta, so I didn't end up buying the game and started focusing on BF2 mods. Forgotten Hope 2, AIX 2, and Eve of Destruction 2 were my favorite mods until I found about the CO-OP aspects of PR... and the rest is history.

While the series as a whole is on a nosedive thanks to DICE & EA literally killing the franchise, Battlefield will always hold a special place in my heart thanks to countless hours of fun that it gave to me. Hopefully I'll be able to go back to the old days of getting excited over the trailers and pre-ordering the game again, but I doubt that magical excitement of a new BF game is going to come back to me.

  3. I haven't played PR COOP for a while at this point so I don't know if they fixed the issue, but are they still not targeted by inf/armor on Pavlovsk Bay? If not, the issue is that they're just sniping bots from a distance, making the match super boring until last few flags.

If they can be shot down without a designated anti-air asset, then going VTOL is basically a suicide run, since infantry with rifles can take down the asset pretty easily before the jet can get out of the way.

  4. All Along The Watchtower by The Jimi Hendrix Experience

Can't really recall where I first heard it, but it's been my favorite Vietnam War era music.

Playing this song, while flying Huey gunship on PR COOP Vietnam was, and still, my favorite gaming moment.

  5. If you want to man heavy assets, please follow one of these suggestions:

    1) Get/build a better PC with faster loading time,

    2) Change your ISP that doesn't hinder your performance because someone's using the internet too,

    3) Get to know frequent/fast-loading players to reserve a seat for you,

    4) Be really good at playing these assets so that people know when to give you a seat no matter what,

    and most importantly......

    5) Don't run a script that slows your loading time because it is not a requirement to play PR COOP.

PR COOP may be flawed in more ways than you could imagine, but there is nothing wrong with the loading speed. This has never been an issue in Deployment and I frankly don't see why we're even having this discussion over and over again. There are ways to mitigate the slow loading issues, and running an additional script that hinders what other players can do ONLY BECAUSE someone's not getting their fair share of playing heavy assets is not a good enough excuse.

Regarding the acceptable squad names..... I believe that's more of a micromanagement, rather than a good idea, but I believe that's a matter of personal opinion.

  6. I believe this is based on Venice Unleashed, which is a mod that people have been working on for few years. Therefore, the mod in the video is basically a mod within a mod, per se. Once Venice Unleashed releases, which is December from when I checked it last time, you can modify the color saturation (therefore no more blue tint that BF3 is infamous for), sprint function, weapon recoil, suppression, and other game-related stuff. When they're saying that it is basically a BF3 version of PR, they're pretty accurate about the description because that's how PR started. A modification of existing game.

Here is the Q&A from Venice Unleashed's official website, if you're curious:

What are the requirements to play this?

VU supports computers running Windows 7 SP1 and newer. To play, you'll need a legit, licensed, and up-to-date version of BF3 installed on your computer, along with the VU client.

Do I need to own Battlefield 3 to use this?

Yes. You need a legit, licensed, and up-to-date version of BF3 installed in order to use VU and you will also be required to link your Origin account with your VU account the first time you launch it, so we can verify your ownership of the game. VU does not and never will work with cracked or pirated copies.

Do I also need the DLCs?

Not necessarily. You need the DLCs to play in servers using DLC content as you would in the vanilla game.

Will I get banned for using this?

No. VU functions separately from vanilla BF3, uses its own servers, and does not modify any game files. That means that you can just launch BF3 like you normally would through Battlelog and it's like VU was never there. Any changes to your game data are performed at your discretion with the use of third party mod tools.

Are my Battlelog stats transferred over?

No. Your VU profile is independent from your Battlelog profile. There's no progression and everything is unlocked for everyone by default. Is it legal?Yes. VU does not modify nor distribute any EA/DICE assets and functions separately from the vanilla BF3 client. VU is fully legal under EU interoperability laws.

And..... their own version of trailer so that people can see what it is capable of:

  7. So my harrier's vertical control suddenly turning upside down wasn't a bug, but rather how it's meant to be? Interesting......

Few things to note about cannon/bomb combo on harriers.....

    1. Don't use cannon on tanks. Unless you get a perfect rear shot on the tank, you wouldn't be able to kill with without going through at least half of your reserve. Use a bomb instead.

    2. If you're dealing with stationary or mobile AAs, using a bomb is usually a bad move. Cannons kill the target faster, and it makes the chance of the enemy locking onto you less likely. There are two exceptions, however. The first one is 3x quads located at AAA emplacement flag on Pavlovsk Bay. They are not usually manned at the beginning of the match and one bomb can take out all three if aimed right. Second exception is if you have someone on the ground with a SOFLAM. You can drop a bomb from a high altitude and it will take care of the target without a big trouble.

Press Ctrl + Shift + M to enable mobile mode.

When it turns into mobile window, click the blue button and it will add to your library.

You can also do this in your phone, and it won't require Ctrl + Shift + M if you're using the phones.

The giveaway expires on the 7th, but it may not work on your account sooner than the date because of the trick people are using.

  10. Out of all the maps listed in the voting options, Hades Peak & Fools Road & Vadso City is the least played map on VG COOP. I can go on forever on why these maps are not very popular among regular players, but I believe all 3 maps have these characteristics in common:

    - Map visibility is very low, NOT because of the terrain, but because of the light setting.

    - Transportation is heavily relied on one asset type (i.e. Helicopters in Vadso, Jeeps in Hades peak & Fools road).

    - Very few heavy assets and they die rather easily (due to Anti air/tank assets as well as dark/forest setting).

From my point of view, navmesh rework isn't going to make these maps popular again, but rather waste Melon and other COOP devs time and effort. I believe the best option for these maps, for the time being until something else comes along (aka night vision for infantry), is asset rework. I don't know if these make the maps play better because I haven't actually played and can't account for who is actually manning the asset, but at least it will make these maps playable, especially during low population time periods:

    Hades Peak

    - Remove AH-64 chopper, and add few armors with thermal vision (2x M1 Abrams or 2-3x M2 Bradley)

    - Add either 2x MH-6 Littlebirds or 1x Chinook for ease of transportation (but can be easily shot down by AAs)

    Fools Road:

    - Add 1x MH-6 Littlebird transport

    - Add 1x Challenger 2 tank WITHOUT thermal vision (enemies have very little anti-tank assets available)

    Vadso City:

    - 2-3x boats spawn at Airfield instead of the carrier (they rarely get used when spawning at carrier)

    - Fewer transport choppers, and maybe add 1x Littlebird with rocket pods

    - More jeeps, with 50 cal on top as a light anti-armor asset.

    And..... one more suggestion:

Would it be possible if we change factions in each map layout? It is good to see different sections of maps being used based on which layout we're playing, but we're still playing as the same faction, fighting against the same enemies with similar assets. I know I'm not the only person who enjoyed playing as an OPFOR when it was available back then, having at least one layout on these "least popular" maps with human side playing as Russians/Insurgents/MEC fighting against common BLUFOR factions (aka Americans/British) would certainly bring more interest.

  11. Technically it is a CAS asset. That's how the PR developers set the asset, and that's final.

Is it a CAS chopper? Sure, but with 2 side miniguns that pilot can't use.

Can I transport people? Yes, but only 2 people who will be using miniguns, and no supply drop at all.

Personally I wouldn't care all that much if someone makes a TRANS squad and use the asset as a light transport, or CAS squad with a transporting small squad as a side job. I've seen few regulars use the asset and get 70+ kills in a single match without dying, so it can be useful at times but under very extreme circumstances.

If there's a case where someone makes a TRANS squad & take the asset, and someone creates a CAS squad and report it for being stolen, then technically CAS squad should have the priority to take the asset.

@ZZANG1847 I used pcpartpicker (based in US) to compare your best buy offer (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-580-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6362427.p?skuId=6362427) to a almost similar custom build.

    Difference:

    - I excluded the Win10 licence because you can get that for $30 somewhere else.

+ I doubled the RAM to 16GB to account for the additional win10 licence cost and because Ryzen loves Dual Channel High Clocked bars.

    https://pcpartpicker.com/list/F7Fwcq

    Conclusion:

pcpartpicker: $843.64 (raw price, excl. shipping costs)

    bestbuy: $599

I recommend the best buy offer and pruchasing additional 8 GB of the same RAM yourself (This can be checked after it arrived). Its a good price and you save time not installing everything.

Most of other deals that I listed are no longer available, and this one & Walmart HP deal are the only ones left so this should be my logical choice. However, there are Walmarts out there putting HP desktops out as a clearance for $450, and even down to $350 in some places. Therefore, I am currently waiting few more days to see if they'll go down in my region as well before I pull the trigger.

Now watch this deal expire and Walmart never discount the HP around me :(

If you live in the United states you probably have crazy black Friday deals going on rn, so you should shop around a little, also I'm more of a person who leans on amd systems, since the cpu is great and also cheap, if you pick amd dont go lower then a ryzen 5 3200, ryzen 7s are at a great price rn for getting a deal but it's not needed, if you find a system with a good graphics card and a ryzen 5 under your budget you can upgrade to a 7.

    https://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gaming-desktop-amd-ryzen-5-3600-8gb-memory-amd-radeon-rx-580-2tb-hdd-240gb-ssd-black/6362427.p?skuId=6362427

This one is priced similar to other deals, AND it has Ryzen 5 3600 in it. If Radeon RX 580 is as good as, if not better than GTX 1660, then this might be the build to go.

To first get into a gaming PC, it helps to make that first purchase (that hopefully contains a roomy case).  Later down the road, you can upgrade parts as you can afford them, like adding more RAM if needed, adding more storage space, etc.  Can even overhaul the core by pulling the motherboard/RAM/CPU and CPU cooler, and buying something new in 5-7 years, without needing to replace the case/PSU/etc.  Same with the GFX card.

So, I'd say that the case in the Cyberpower one looks more in line with modern case designs, the PSU is in a covered trough below everything, and the front has a three fan intake looks like it could handle a 240-280mm liquid cooling radiator (someday).  Looks like it could survive a few future upgrades, and comes with some good parts inside to begin with.
Also, RGB like that should add at least 200 FPS in any game, of course. RGB FTW! (j/k)

The case on the other one you linked looks like a cheap POS and cramps a lot of hot stuff too close for comfort IMHO - fine for a starter gaming PC, but not really good for future upgrades due to it's size.  No filters, no top fan space, and of course, no RGB so how can you possibly hope to shoot straight in a game?

Get into the game, worry about fancy things later.  Also, plan to migrate your current HDD/SSD's for added storage and easy import of old files, etc.  A case with plenty of space for SSD's or HDD's will make that possible.  My 500GB SSD filled up SOOO fast with games.  4TB Seagate's are on sale for $80 right now, lots of sales through x-mas in storage.  Go Seagate or Samsung, for the pro gear, price per performance, unless budget is most important.

    Good luck!

I was initially interested in HP due to 1660 Ti being included, but other specs look lacking and upgrade looks challenging if I ever go that route. I do love CyberPowerPC build, but the problem is that it won't be shipped until Jan/Feb of 2020, which is not great as prices of parts will go lower when we hit 2020. In fact, I've been hearing rumors that Walmart did a clearance on HP desktops they stocked for last Black Friday, and sold it for really cheap to get rid of inventory. So either I will buy one of the options this week (Currently leaning towards Skytech Archangel), or wait few more weeks and get HP much cheaper down the road.

Gaming will be a primary purpose of this build, but I will also use it for a "light" video editing/rendering. I am not a professional YouTuber, and 100% of videos uploaded on YouTube are taken from a phone with limited editing so it shouldn't be a big deal.

I suppose you already have a licensed Windows  so you may save maybe 100$ and invest it in RAM or SSD. If not, you may buy a  SH license for 10$ on Amazon. However dont get cheap on the power source. Get something at least Gold Certified 80+. A good power source works miracles. Its like using high octane gas on an old engine. It flies!

I believe all of options listed above include Windows 10, so I don't need to worry about getting a license. I may add another 8GB of RAM and/or SSD/HDD since those wouldn't be as complicated as other installation process, but I haven't decided if I will actually do it yet.

Both Archangel and Oracle has Ryzen 5 but Archangel has 2600X 3.6 GHz while Oracle has 2600 3.4 GHz, making it less than ideal from your point of view. The other two options have Intel CPU, but if GHz is an indicator they actually suck more than Archangel/Oracle (2.6 GHz)

Black Friday deals come and go and there were few other options that are no longer available/relevant now. These are the best options I can find so far and I don't know if they'll be available when I go to sleep in few hours and wake up tomorrow morning. Maybe Cyber Monday will have a better deal but if not I need to choose soon before the train leaves.

  16. I found more options, but I think these have their own pros as well as cons:

    HP: https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-Pavilion-Gaming-Desktop-Tower-Intel-Core-i5-9400F-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-1660Ti-8GB-RAM-256GB-SSD-690-0073w/902037635

Pro: Slightly cheaper, upgrade from 1660 to 1660Ti.

Con: 256 GB SSD vs 500 GB SDD (Skytech Oracle) or 240GB SSD w/ 1TB HDD (CyberpowerPC)

    Skytech Archangel: https://www.google.com/shopping/product/10838364651746331194?psb=1&tbm=shop&prds=epd%3A267462447146436244%2Cprmr%3A3%2Crs%3A1&ved=0CCYQiM4BKAFqFwoTCLXjw5y-kOYCFUSApwodSUkPGBAu&utm_source=affiliate_CJ&utm_medium=1122587_cj_4485850&utm_campaign=Deep+Link&utm_content=13713149

Pro: Better motherboard/CPU (according to internet), more RAM

Con: $73 more than Skytech Oracle

  17. Yo,

Some of you might know this already, but for those of you who are unaware, that I do not have a PC that can run games that are ever so slightly demanding, aka any decent games that came out in last 5 years or so. To help you better understand, my current PC/Desktop is.....

    1) Literally bought from a store that sells office-oriented supplies/computers,

    2) Therefore NOT built for gaming, and

    3) Been using it for almost 6-7 years at this point.

Due to the nature of where this PC came from, running old and not-so-demanding games like PR and Insurgency can be a struggle-fest, and I had to resort to play these games in the lowest setting possible (and even then I do have frame drops here and there). I do use this PC for other purposes such as video editing and watching movies, and I've been frustrated lately due to how sluggish and slow it became in last few months.

    So, now, onto the topic:

I wasn't really planning on buying a PC this week, but I was casually browsing a website and saw these deals.

    Skytech Oracle: https://www.google.com/shopping/product/11729696851188733993?psb=1&tbm=shop&prds=epd%3A13459610525245923212%2Cprmr%3A3%2Crs%3A1&ved=0CCYQiM4BKAFqFwoTCPCGtbSphOYCFc7N4wcdWBcCdBA1&utm_source=affiliate_CJ&utm_medium=1122587_cj_4485850&utm_campaign=Deep+Link&utm_content=13713149

    CyberpowerPC: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-Xtreme-i5-9400F-GeForce-GXiVR8060A8/dp/B07VGJDKZ4?tag=slickdeals&ascsubtag=8d12bda6131611eaa3403a4e4378d8700INT&ref_=Oct_DLandingS_D_466a83d5_63&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Before you say anything, let me clarify you on one thing. I know building PC is what everyone does, and even kids from elementary schools can do it nowadays. I am aware the fact that I can build a PC with similar parts or specs from the links above and come out cheaper. However, I suck at building anything in general (and I learned this from building something as simple as AR-15 lower parts kit), and have never done one before. I also do not have any friends who live near and can help me with building a PC as well as do a troubleshooting if I screw things up (which is bound to happen). Right now, the only help I can get is from listening feedback from you guys who know this S#!T and can guild me.

So, I've been looking around and 2 options from above sound like a good deal that doesn't suck and not a outright rip-off. I am planning to spend around $700 for a PC that I would like to play AAA games at a MEDIUM-HIGH-ULTRA settings depending on how demanding it can be. In addition, I do plan on using the rig for video/picture editing, watching movies, but that would be it.

The first link comes out to around $670 after the tax and shipping, and second one is a little cheaper ($655) with all things considered. So, what do you guys think about these two options? Should I do with one of those, or do you know any PRE-BUILT PC around the same price range that is much better?

    Thank you for your feedback!

  18. I have played, in the past, other servers that lets you switch sides and play with a bot against human.

The best thing about it is that you get to surprise human opponents with flanking/maneuver/ambush.

The worst thing about is that you get to experience the same thing from the other side and can die very often.

Let's give you an example on a map that everyone loves: Muttrah City:

    1) Were you ever frustrated with anti-air asset while you're on TRANS/CAS? Well now we have an anti-air asset that can literally go anywhere in the map and hide in any building they choose. The days of you not needing to worry about getting shot down while hovering over North City is officially over. Sure, you can dodge a heat-seeking missile with a well-placed flare, but do note that countermeasures do not work against bullets (especially heavy calibers like 12.7mm, 14.5mm, and 20mm).

    2) If you have gotten killed by a mortar and thought "this is not annoying whatsoever," prepare to be bombarded with HE/Airburst. Were you annoyed by someone popping smoke and you get shot because you couldn't see? Prepare to be shot, in many occasions, in the head by a dumb bot with a pistol across the map. Also, have you ever used mortar and felt it was boring and tedious? Well, now you get to experience what is like to be counter-mortared and lose all of deployables you just built.

    3) Riding a Humvee/AMTRAC/LAV-25 and constantly get annoyed because your vehicle gets hit by a LAT kit and disable? Well, you don't need to worry no more because HAT kit makes you die instantly so you don't have to worry about waiting for those dumb logi trucks to bring a repair station to you. By the way, have I mentioned that you can also spawn with a combat-engineer kit and lay anti-tank mines around for easy kills? You better start looking the surface of the road you're about to cross carefully. Unfortunately, enemy bots with LAT kits wouldn't be so kind to wait for you to look them up before they destroy your vehicle.

    4) I love the smell of claymores in the morning, especially when they're placed on T-shaped buildings.

    5) Snipers....... nuff said.

If you played CO-OP events before, you should know that there are few key admins who are on the bot side to make sure the event goes smoothly. They are not allowed to directly involved in combat unless necessary, and even then it could be frustrating at times. Imagine having those players have no rules of engagement whatsoever, and the only limitation they have are their creative imaginations. It only takes one or two with a decent skill/knowledge and access to good equipment to ruin everyone's day.

I'm all for playing such events, as COOP is getting bored without a major update, but please understand.....

There are reasons why people play CO-OP instead of Deployment.

I hope people know what they're getting themselves into before they bring Deployment to CO-OP.

    Zzzang... you're nuts.

You've known me for god knows how long, and you JUST realized I'm crazy? Man I'm disappointed in you.

That MP5 is quiet as hell. Zzang. Bit freaky. Is that legal?

It's actually a .22 replica, and the silencer/suppressor is fake. So even if it looks quiet it is still NOT hearing safe.

  20. I know everyone's trying to post something funny, but I'm going to be that guy and actually talk about my guns.

Why? Because I like to brag about stuff and this is the only thing in my life I can brag about.

In the last 5 years I've been working really hard on expanding my collection and feel comfortable showing them off without having someone chime in and tell me how poor and cheapskate I am (and it happened before). And before you go further, people have told me that I have/bought too many guns and I should talk to an counselor, psychologist, or something, so get in line if you want to tell me what I've been hearing about in last 5 years LOL.

Well... without a further ado, here are my collection (name, caliber, country of origin below the photos):

If you counted all of them, it should come out to 42 guns (22 Rifles, 14 Pistols, 1 Revolver, and 5 Shotguns).

Technically I have 43 but the last one (M70B1, aka Yugoslavian AK-47) is still in a local gun shop waiting to be picked up and I have not taken a photo of it yet. For those of you who're curious, I have purchased 16 guns this year, which is a surprise even from myself. I have bought 9 guns in 2018, and 9 guns in 2017, so this year marks the year when I bought the most amount of guns (not to mention how much I spent as well).

Oh and one more thing..... If you want to see these guns in action, check out my YouTube channel.
