To get the full speed of the ssd drive must be enabled AHCI Mode in the BIOS.
Note: Requires the driver installed on your system.  !!! Read Google !!!

All my drives are on AHCI mode. ;)

Are you sure that your motherboard supports SATA 3 speeds that can allow your SSD to reach 6GB/s?  If so, are you sure your SSD is connected to a SATA 3 port on your motherboard?  I ask because SATA 2 ports are a 300 "megs/sec" speed range which is close to what you are reporting.  The ports look the same, but some motherboards color the SATA 3 ports differently than the SATA 2 ports...

I only have SATA 3. 6 of them. Maybe the SSD is broken or something. I'm thinking to return it.

  4. After I've read Diguelo's post I've tried to put some stress on SSD running 3 games in the same time: Squad, BF4 and Argo. Temperature was steady between 32 and 35 Celsius. But write/read speed didn't go above 380 megs/sec!!

  5. My gaming comp rated "surf board".  That's second to last :D. But its much much better as a workstation which was its primary function. Strangely enough I can play demanding games on medium or even high settings. Probably thanks to the 2GB dedicated memory GPU. Unfortunately in my case the bottle neck is indeed the CPU and the motherboard cannot support anything faster. And if I get another MBD i'll need a new Windows licence for aprox 200 $. 5 years ago, when i've build this comp it was pretty badass.  8GB ram and quad core CPU ment something back then.   Maybe its time for a new machine but to be honest besides this issue with the PR loading time I have no problems with it.

Problem is propably caused by your CPU. PR uses only one core, so to improve loading speed you propably need to improve the single core performance.

Hm.. it does make sense. Im not sure if this old CPU can support this kind of improvement tho'.. I'll do some research. Thanks.

  7. Hello!

I've recently installed an SSD hoping to load games faster. It worked partially. I'm loading the OS (windows 10) in like 10 seconds vs 120 secs before SSD. Its even faster then my Ubuntu on laptop. But somehow PR2 load even slower then before. Initially I thought  it might be a CPU performance issue as I'm using an outdated one. But... other more recent games are working just fine even they are more demanding performance wise.

Here are some metrics, from desktop shortcut click to effectively deployed on the map :

    bf4 - 90 secs vs 140 secs before SSD
squad-  63 secs vs ~120 secs before SSD
PR2 - game loading 82 secs, loading map 148 secs, total 3,52 mins

Processor: AMD A10-5800K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics   (4 CPUs), ~3.8GHz

     Memory: 8192MB RAM

Card name: AMD Radeon R7 200 Series Dedicated Memory: 2029 MB

What do you think? Forums are not very informative regarding this issue. How can I improve the loading time? I heard about people using SSD being bounced to desktop for loading too fast! :D

    Thanks,

    ZT

    Just to clarify.

Does Vadso crash on all layers or is it one layer in particular?

I'm guessing it's only standard that's crashing, not so sure about the alternate or the large layers.

Vadso std is running now.  Nobody can join due to CTD.

The Combat engineer doesn't work on building FOBS (at least to my knowledge) but only for razor wire.

The razor wire is a definite no as people spam them way way way to much. Maybe other than blocking off the flag some people stay behind and defend as it suppose to be.

Personally i never use razor wire as i just move fast enough to the next flag to cap it before the bots can cap the other one.

I just dont get it! What does it mean "too much"?! How do you judge that? Maximum is 10. Not 50! Sometimes it takes 3 wires to close down one single street. Is that bad to defend a flag with wires?! You know very well that people are hardly staying behind to defend a flag. And you will not change their behaviour by making the game more difficult. The server is not always full but only a handful of people that are outnumbered, being forced to use whatever necessary means to progress through the map.

Why are you asking for feedback if you won't even consider it ?

The engineer kit works on FOBs too. You can even lay mines with it ;)

  10. It takes aprox 3 minutes of continuous shovelling to build a FOB, using 1 engineer kit and 1 shovel. Its can be problematic to do this under fire. Probably it take less for a squad bigger than 2 people.

However, it was impossible to build and maintain 3 razor-wire barriers with 3 shovels and 1 engineer kit, being under constant fire, as usually happens with razor-wires, given their purpose. We've spent more than 30 minutes shoveling, dying, respawning back, looking for kits, deploying new wires, etc., just to hold one flag. On Muttrah and other urban maps, this will not work.  I believe that at least the razor-wire should be excepted from shovelling. Or the number of armours should decrease. Or a balance between the two.

  11. Regarding TOW Humvee: 4-5 crewman are always better than 2:

SL - communication, coordination, spotting, building defensive/denial means

    Gunner - well... :)

Engineer - for repairing the vehicles/ laying mines, fixing various denial structures

Medic - as the gunner (and the rest of the crew/near by infantry) gets often injured

HAT/LAT - maybe it's a bit redundant but redundancy can guarantee a successful kill in this situations

Besides this, the rest of the crew can ensure the safety of the TOW Humvee against enemy RPG, C4, etc, when is camping as well as contributing to capture the flag faster, defending a flag/position. Lets not forget that Humvees have good mobility, going places with a relative autonomy. Why not be all you can be and not just an rocket shooter? I would encourage a wider range of capabilities for this special squad.

Now regarding the Mechanized Infantry, on the most servers I've been playing, this squad has the right at ONE single armoured vehicle and it has priority. I was convinced that this is the situation on VG server as well. But I was wrong. I found that in a very unpleasant manner.  Right now I feel that Mech Inf is treated like some sort of second hand squad that have to kiss the asses of the APC squad, begging for a vehicle.

On the side note: you never know when the APC squad is reclaiming the vehicle just because they lost theirs, instead waiting in line for the new one to spawn.

I would plead for having this simple  (and common sense) rule for VG server. The efficiency of a mechanized infantry squad are so obvious that don't need to be mentioned here.  Not to forget that most of the time, the APC squad member are forgetting what APC acronym stands for which is Armoured PERSONNEL CARRIER and not a tank.

     Peace,

    ZT

    Hi,

Just a quick note to all current VG Pr admins :

If you ban someone, please send me a PM or poke me on TS with a player's name and date of the ban.

    =VG= TEDF

    HEADS-UP

TEDF post needs a reiteration as lately I've noticed that banned players are joining the server again. In the last couple days, I've seen at least 4 banned players on the server, doing exactly the same things they were banned for.

    Hey guys,

I am not really sure if this is the right place. But I think a lot of you are veterans and some of you may have some issues with what happened as well, it ain't easy.

So let me try to explain what made me write this post. A guy I know served in the military and has now after his service in Afghanistan some serious problems with adjusting to real life. Basically he has a wife, two kids and a house but also a thing for 'tha drink' and can't skip out of it. Refuses any help or assistance, has the fears and the nightmares and the shakes but cannot escape them with or without drinking. He talks to me. But I cannot help him. What do I tell him? He's also living away from home so help isn't available but this man served his country and I don't feel that he should end in some drunken stuper. If any of you have any advice on where I should quietly try to guide him for some help. Let me know.

    Thanks,

    Jersans.

IMO this is not a subject of discussion for a gaming forum. Doing this, tells me that you have no real respect for veterans and PTSD nor you that you know what are you talking about.
