Work In Progress: Six-Updater HOW-TO document

=VG= SavageCDN

Recommended Posts

Spent some quality time at work today preparing a how-to for using Six-Updater to download and install mods for Arma 2. Mostly just some screens with basic instructions... I need someone to try it out and let me know if the instructions are good.. then I'll pretty it up (or 'flesh it out' as an old teacher used to put it).

I've only done enough to get SU installed, configured, and joining the VG servers. SU has a TON more features so perhaps some additional HOWTOs once we get the basic one completed?

Looks like a good start......

There are some ins and outs of playing with SU that might have to be done but, those can be handle on a case by case situation.

Might make note that SU should auto-detect game location but to click on game folder to verify. If it isn't looking at the correct location to go into options and point to the correct place.

(as say this cause when I first installed SU, I had a retail and a steam copy of ARMA2:CO on my machine. But we got to keep it simple, the guide won't answer all question, to get people started)

No this is good feedback... simple is good but these types of things should be mentioned in the document. I used Armarize before so I'm pretty new to SU myself.

I use SU to get the mods but use a Spirited Machine's ARMA II launcher to start the game. That way I can pick and choose what mods I want on the fly.

Could really use someone without mods already to follow the instructions to see if it is simple enough to follow and get the job done. If no one reports back on this by the weekend, then I will move my mods and uninstall/reinstall SU following instruction.

I'm making videos and that will be one. Uninstalling a program sometimes doesn't remove all it's bits and bring it back to the experience of first install - unless you know how to hunt them down through the registry, hidden folders, etc.

I should have the first ones finished today or tomorrow.

Awesome work, Savage! This will help so many people!
