Dresh Posted April 23, 2010 at 11:38 PM Report Share Posted April 23, 2010 at 11:38 PM To fix the upload problem you need to change the permissions on the e107_files/public folder to 777 too.I cant find any reason why the downloads wont work. but Im working on it....hahahaYou should also upgrade.upload the latest version of the CMS as there have been some security fixes, you can grab it from www.e107.org and it's just a case of overwriting files (except the e107_config.php file)Sorry if you already know all this, just trying to be as helpful as I can! Dresh Posted April 23, 2010 at 11:47 PM Author Report Share Posted April 23, 2010 at 11:47 PM sorry for the double post. BLuD, you need to create a category for the download! In the downloads section where it says 'create download' you should see 'categories'. click on that and somewhere on the page you should see 'Download categories' Leave the first drop down on none-main parent and fill in the rest.once thats done go back to your download you created and change the category drop down to the one you just created. Save it and check. I can't remember if you need just a parent or a parent and a child (see http://www.thisiswar.co.uk/download.php and take a look at Battelfront (parent) and Maps (child). If it is not working with just he one category create another one with the first one being the parent. ie: Project Reality - MapsDon't forget to go bat to your download and change the category in there too! Hope you can follow all that...
=VG= Solar Posted April 24, 2010 at 12:33 AM Report Share Posted April 24, 2010 at 12:33 AM I knew why the downloads did not work. It simply had not been configured to work as I saw no reason for people to want to upload things to be downloaded.

Dresh Posted April 24, 2010 at 05:56 AM Author Report Share Posted April 24, 2010 at 05:56 AM I would limit the uploads to maybe just admin and make the site link only visible to them. It is amazing how fast you can fill up the webspace if everybody can upload images and stuff even if it is just for them to post in the forum. Dresh Posted April 25, 2010 at 07:16 PM Author Report Share Posted April 25, 2010 at 07:16 PM I can understand your frustration but learning the ins and outs of a good CMS will make your life easier in the long run (especially when your site gets bigger..which i'm sure it will as you run a good game server). There are plenty of ppl and sites about to help. If you get yourself ftp access to the host it literally only take 2 mins to learn how to change what you need to.

=VG= Solar Posted April 25, 2010 at 07:41 PM Report Share Posted April 25, 2010 at 07:41 PM Yes he can get FTP access.I have given it out before.Whats the problem?Update:Wasn't the file permissions, i fixed that the other day. Its due to a weird bug or design flaw in the e107 cms software. You must first create a category for downloads. Then create a subcategory inside of that category and upload your stuff to that sub category or it does not work. It will not show downloads posted in the main parent category.Thats pretty poor code right there, in my opinion...Solar out.
