hi (st)ranger^^

if you have a windows pc open the CMD and type:

Tracert 5.9.23.136

You will then receive a list of the individual stations your signal passes through until it reaches our server (hops).

Thats my route:
  1     1 ms     1 ms     1 ms  fritz.box [192.168.x]
  2    11 ms    13 ms    11 ms  ip-088-152-..XXX.um26.pools.vodafone-ip.de [88.152..XXX]
  3    12 ms    11 ms    24 ms  ip-081-210-x.um21.pools.vodafone-ip.de [81.210.x]
  4    25 ms    15 ms    17 ms  de-fra01b-rc2-ae-20-0.aorta.net [84.116.xx]
  5    17 ms    17 ms    16 ms  84.116.190.x
  6    18 ms    16 ms    20 ms  213-133-121-197.clients.your-server.de [213.133.121.197]
  7    35 ms    20 ms    22 ms  core23.fsn1.hetzner.com [213.239.224.73]
  8    23 ms    33 ms    20 ms  ex9k1.dc7.fsn1.hetzner.com [213.239.229.234]
  9    23 ms    20 ms    21 ms  static.136.23.9.5.clients.your-server.de [5.9.23.136]

If you're lucky or unlucky, you can see which spot is causing the high latency. If it's one of the first spots, you might be able to do something about it. If it's the last spots, you won't be able to directly influence it. In that case, a VPN or changing your ISP might help.
My list is quite short because I'm in Germany and the server is less than 600km away from me.

Are you using a VPN or something similar? If you're not using a VPN or any kind of tunnel, I'd run a deep virus scan.

10.0.0.0 to 10.255.255.255 is private network, not the internet. Points 2 or 3 should show the IP address you receive from your ISP. However, there's a route to a local IP address and then the timeouts. I find that suspicious.

why are there timeouts? A virus would be a good explanation, otherwise it could be a defective or incorrectly configured router. At least it looks like the problem is shortly after or still on your computer and not some hop on the way to the VG server.

I would run some DEEP virus scans, check the router and cable, and possibly swap them out as a test. I think the problem lies somewhere there.

Or rather, looking at your list again, I'm not so sure if there might even be two problems... I would definitely check the timeouts and the IP address (virus scan, hardware, or configuration defect). But the high ping only comes in position 7, and that's the internet. Unfortunately, you can't change that directly. That can only change over time, with a VPN, if you move, or maybe with a new ISP. But before you look into that, you should fix the bigger problem, which is in positions 3 and 4.

Does anyone else here have an idea?

looks very suspicious to me. Why is it redirecting to a local IP, which is probably causing the timeouts? If you don't have any special routers, switches, tunnels, VPNs, or similar network-related devices, then something very strange is happening right there.

maybe you're part of a bot network or something...that would also explain why the bots in PR react so aggressively to you...;p

Maybe someone else here can explain why you would otherwise redirect to a local IP...as you can see in my example, I already get the external IP at position 2.
