Community Guidelines & Website Rules

1. Disrespect

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use our website, servers, or services to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.  See our Terms for complete details, including specific rules of conduct.

2. Posting

You agree not to post any copyrighted material outside the bounds of fair use unless the copyright is owned by you or by VG as defined in our Terms.

While the subject matter of many games or simulators we play may include recreations of real life conflicts throughout the world, we ask that all members avoid posting content of a political nature, or engaging in discussions or commentary involving politics or religion.  We discourage excessive 'role playing' comments in posts/chat (or while playing) which include statements or rally cries of real life belligerents from past or current conflicts - it's okay to have fun but use tact when you joke around, and do not take things too far.  As a general rule for everyone, leave politics and religion out of our gaming community, and focus on the games.

This forum theme is about military gaming, but also PC gaming of all kinds, the technology we use to play them, subjects and topics we enjoy and sometimes our real life activities - but we strongly discourage posting content of a personal nature without extreme consideration, and may remove certain content that includes personal identifying information such as documents or id's, graphic or medical material, photographs which include non-consenting people in private areas (such as hospitals), or looping .gif images which are particularly annoying or a legitimate concern for members or guests with epileptic issues.

For Members with access to closed area(s) of these forums, you are not allowed to post or quote (or discuss) information from those private areas in non-private areas.  For the few VG Admins who have access to any player identifying information for administrative purposes, or as a natural part of server game logs and player management, you agree to hold these private and confidential to your maximum ability, and will not share in, or will redact them from, any posted material outside private areas of the VG website or discord private channels.

3. Cookies

Our websites use cookies to distinguish you from other users of our website. This helps us to provide you with a personalized experience when you browse this site. For detailed information on the cookies we use and the purposes for which we use them see our Privacy Policy. These cookies are not used for any reasons other than member identification for participation in this community and the usage of various website functions and for saving your website settings, such as the customizer (top right button near profile name).

4. Spam

Spam posting, including recruiting our members, links to external websites, or other ad spam, will not be tolerated. This is in regards to new users who only join to post spam, and not regular participating members who share links to information/etc. on other websites. New accounts which spam our forums with junk will be banned and any content removed swiftly.  We are trying to grow our own community in several games at VG, through the VG Army and Air Force Clubs, and we actively discourage any recruitment of our members for other groups outside of the VG online gaming community.

5. Names

Website, Player, and in-game Squad or Group names, tags, avatars, profile images & callsigns of a borderline inflammatory nature are not allowed, literally or symbolically.  Players are not discouraged from expressing themselves through their avatar nicknames and callsigns, but must do so without using those of, or mostly similar to: fascist belligerents from past or current wars, current or former terrorists, anything that could be considered inflammatory, intentionally similar to or mocking other players or admins, religious figures, overly revealing images depicting sexuality or nudity (including art), or anything that seems to attempt to make a statement of a potentially inflammatory nature (including any sensitive topics such as race/gender/politics, etc.).

6. Member Honesty

False Allegations & Misrepresentation (Lying)

If you lie in a report to get another player kicked or banned you will be banned instead.

If you misrepresent yourself as someone else or use any type of subversive means to present the facts or minimize to a large degree the events leading to a ban you are appealing, or to intentionally evade a ban and join the server anyway, you may be banned from all VG servers permanently.

Using =VG= tags without being an active clan member will result in warning to change name, and use of [R-BOT] tags (impersonation) on our PR server(s) will result in a ban.
