  1. It won't change a smacktard into an ideal player but it may provide the less experienced BF2 converts a basis to grow from.
Perhaps a server password is in order? Force players to come to the site, submit a form by which the player indicates they have read the server rules, this guide (once complete) and after doing so are provided with the server password. Change the password regularly and often.
I would expect the web site traffic to increase, membership to increase and admins are assured that every player on the server knows the rules and what is expected of them in game.
  2. In an effort to bring a little guidance to players new to PR and how the game is played here at VG

First, I am no expert. There are loads of members (if not all) who play far better than I do. But I have learned the basics of what a player needs to do as a member of a squad.
    1. Do what your leader tells you!
    2. If assigned a kit, keep it until told to do otherwise.
    3. Keep close to the squad.
    4. Call targets, bearing and range.
    5. Be prepared to grab a medic kit and revive! (Know where your medic is and if you don't have one, volunteer!)

    Suggestions welcome!
  3. PC pronounced dead at 19:17 Australian Pacific Time on April 19th 2012. All attempts to resuscitate have failed.
    Coroner will perform autopsy tomorrow.
Pending report, negotiations have commenced with finance minister (wife) with respect to capital investment policies.
Until further notice, deployment to the battlefield will only be possible pending availability of reserve system. (my sons)

  4. Well I tried this from Realitymod
Windows Vista/7: How to setup increaseuserva Bootparameter

    Navigate to Start>All Programs>Accessories>
Right-click "Command prompt" and choose "Run as administrator"
A command line window should open
Type in "BCDEdit /set increaseuserva 3072" (without quotation marks) (Screenshot)
3072 is the maximum, "2560" or "2816" is in most cases sufficent.
To let the changes take effect restart your computer

Wont start at all now and system recovery isnt working either.
    OH POO
  5. Switch LAN_WROTE ...

.. I was talking to dead about his qwai river strategy and told him "man, this is too easy" to which he laughed and agreed. It was a new strategy that he always wanted to try out to give all the players who play regularly a fresh take on the same maps.
    ...

I've told dead the same thing. Brillent tactics and the SL I look for when I join the server.
I have not played with NWM very much. My loss.

It is not my intension to poke at dead or NWM for doing anything wrong. I merely select two examples which I thought would give clearity to the purpose of this thread. I was hoping to get people talking about ideas, tactics and strategies so I and other members of the community can learn to become better players. I felt server rules an important part of such discussions. I did not intend to offend anyone, least of all dead or NWM. Please accept my apologies should you feel that way.

Moving to deployment from coop is a backwards step for me. While I agree deployment is more challenging, the intensity takes the fun out of the game.

Perhaps the best place to develop tactics and strategies is better left on the battle field rather than here in a thread.

  6. Oh, I dont think I over admin based on what I see other admins do. I was thinking that I'm not doing enough. If the roll of admin starts to screw up my fun I'l give it away.
In this thread I was hoping to get a discussion going regarding tactics and stategy that keeps the fun and challange alive. The tactics I mentioned have taken alot of the challange away making the game a matter of predictable outcome. Some of the fun goes with it.
  7. Will this run ARMA PR?
    # Intel Core i5 2400 CPU - 3.1GHz
    # Gigabyte / Asus Z68 MotherBoard
    # 8G (2x4G) DDR3-1600MHz RAM
    # 500G SATA3 7200RPM Hard Disk
    # 22X DVD Burner
    # ATI HD7750 1GB PCI-e Graphics Card
    # Thermaltake V4 Mid Black Tower Case with 500w PSU
  8. Of late some interesting strategies have developed on a few of the maps that really work well. However, recent discussions suggest that the tactics bend or possibly break server rules.
I have started this thread as an open discussion with the sole intension of improving the over all enjoyment of the game for ALL players.
My first example is the strategy employed by DEADBYDAWN where he rushes to the last intersection before pump, deploys a FOB, HMG, Foxholes and pounds the enemy as they leave their main through pump. The map is won in short order.
Second example is NWM (nowhereman) strategy on Lashkar Valley. He circles the map dropping FOB?s in strategic locations and then returns to the attack flag. He doesn?t engage the enemy while doing this but it does limit other squad?s options and exploits the AI weakness in defending against such tactics.
Both of these tactics make short order of the map but effectively change the dynamics of game play where the victory is shallow.
I believe the ?planned capture order? of Coop game play is meant to keep the game challenging. The fun is lost when a strategy or tactic is employed which exploits the limited AI of the enemy.
I welcome everyone to post your thoughts with the hope of keeping PR challenging and above all, fun for everyone.
  9. Just cant say enough about the game play n PR of late.
Had another great match playing with DeadByDawn.
IMO he has this game down to a science. Fantastic strategy coupled with solid SL ability! It is always a good evening of gaming with him as an SL and the rest of the VG crew!
Thank you for putting up with me!
  10. I'd agree if the tactic was valuable to the team. In this case it was BF2 mentality to get a high kill count.

I repeatedly asked the pilot to move on so we could hear the enemy but I was ignored.
With a full squad below him he felt it was more important to hover above us while waiting for the enemy to reach us. This left our squad overwhelmed by noise and unable to hear let alone determine the direction of enemy advances.

I did eventually kick the player who returned asking for admin. I joined his squad only to find he is VOIP deprived and did not engage in text communication.
  11. I've witnessed, on more than one occasion, a player using assets in a manor which they were not intended.
This includes taxiing an A10 into south bunker, flying the attack chopper through the streets of Muttrah at a metre or two off the ground.
It made the match all but impossible for infantry to hear enemy vehicles coming.
Repeated warnings had no effect on the players tactics.
    Is this a kick/ban offence?
  12. Hi Guys, had an incredible match last night I thought worth sharing.
Pig was on all by himself and I thought what the hell. Muttrah with two people might be fun.
Pig had been on for a while and I guess the absence of other players messed with his mind a little. He successfully wired up a few spots that kept the enemy at bay. With just the two of us we were bloody busy trying to cap docks. When we did I thought FMD, this is working.
It was not to long when two other players came on. T.E.D. and some guy named ray.
The four of us opted to take the offensive and before we knew it, we were sitting on the tower at castle and capped them out.
WOW, 4 players and we capped it out. Pigs wires made it possible and T.E.D. was nothing but incredible in the APC.
So looking forward to playing with you blokes again! Its games like these that keep me coming back to PR.
