Robocop Posted September 15, 2010 at 02:55 AM Report Share Posted September 15, 2010 at 02:55 AM Today Dystopia 1.3 was released. Dystopia is a cyberpunk mod developed on the Half Life 2 engine. Its not the traditional FPS shooter really. Its pretty fast paced and set more or less around teamplay, tactics and individual skill. It does take some time to get used to but once you get the hang of it your hooked. It does require you to have Steam and HL2 ... and the sdk i believe. If your interested the home page is here http://www.dystopia-game.com/Wiki with lots of helpful material http://www.dystopia-game.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_PageGameplay footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS8C_HR_O_w

Pvt. Pirate Posted September 17, 2010 at 02:23 PM Report Share Posted September 17, 2010 at 02:23 PM the game mechanics are fascinating, but its too fast paced for me.didnt seem to be based on tactics much, but just on how much you're used on the game and your class. Pvt. Pirate Posted September 18, 2010 at 10:38 AM Report Share Posted September 18, 2010 at 10:38 AM yes, its been promoted big on moddb.com because it invented completely new game mechanics to the source engine.-inventory-class, skill, weapon selection on spawn-new movement mechanics: jumping at a ledge and gripping it to then pull yourself up...-cyberspaceits a milestone in modding, but when you play online, its almost like unreal tournament
Robocop Posted September 20, 2010 at 11:27 PM Author Report Share Posted September 20, 2010 at 11:27 PM Pvt. Pirate LAN_WROTE ...the game mechanics are fascinating, but its too fast paced for me.didnt seem to be based on tactics much, but just on how much you're used on the game and your class. This is true but the tactics dont realy start until you get in to Pugs and DGL. Then it starts to get interesting.DGL is Dystopia Global LeagueIts an international competition put on every year. Teams consist of 5 players to a team. Pvt. Pirate Posted September 21, 2010 at 10:48 AM Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 at 10:48 AM well, the way they played it on the servers i was on, i had no chance to get any training, so i wont play it on a league. but they could use many of the game mechanics for improving "insurgency" for example... Robocop Posted September 21, 2010 at 06:54 PM Author Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 at 06:54 PM Yeh in 1.2 it was very hard on the player that was just starting out. In 1.3 theyve made some improvments like arrows telling you where to go and bunnyhoping is alot easier.Insurgency is an okay mod but that thing has been done so many times. I dont see it all that different from counterstrike. (just my opinion im sure its not) What brought me to dystopia in the first place was that it is different. Not the ordinary modern warfare, WW2 FPS. I still love those too though. Also if you do like WW2 and have Red Orchestre. Check out the Darkest Hour mod its great.http://www.darkesthourgame.com/
-WCC-B0zZz3 Posted September 21, 2010 at 06:58 PM Report Share Posted September 21, 2010 at 06:58 PM In my opinion the best Half Life 2 mods are the singleplayer ones, love the cinematic ones.. I do enjoy the COOP mod for Half Life 2 - Deathmatch. Shooting antlions and zombies is fun, even more fun as a team!
