Nice set up! Very neat. That 2nd screen is pretty cool! Would like to do something similar once I get the essentials sorted out.
What model are the TM pedals? How have they been?
I think i remember when you purchased that stick years ago! Good to hear it has held up!

Hey all.
Going to do my own reseach too but thought i might ask since we have some flight simmers here. Sold all my old gear a couple of years back and haven't kept an eye on the market. I'm in need of a stick, throttle and pedals.
1. Anyone have comments of how the Logitech/Saitek sticks are these days?
2. Is the Warthog Hotas still the best of the best? Or are there other alternatives these days?
3. Is the Warthog Hotas (with pedals) good for helicopters? Helicopters are my favorite thing, so keen for the DCS AH64 dropping this month! (Also fly the hornet and harrier in DCS or BMS).
4. Has anyone used the Thrustmaster T Flight pedals? Any comments?
Cheers!

I can't really offer much about your PR question but 1 thing to keep in mind (for all games/sims) with the TM Hotas is that although it's probably the best setup on the market at the moment it does not have a twist rudder on the stick (i assume that's because it's a replica of the real A-10) so buying some rudder pedals is essential too.

As Brain said the original BF2Freelook no longer works BUT there is an edited/fixed version that will work with the latest version of PR (Forgotten Hope 2 also works with it from memory) which can be found on the second post from the top of this page (Project Reality Forum) along with instructions on how to get it working.
So, headtracking actually does work still, sort of. From the sounds of things it might not work with the TrackIR software (although i'm not 100% sure about that) but it definitely works with FacetrackNOIR, so webcam only face tracking, a homemade headtracker, or the cheaper headtracking kits like Delanclip or Trackhat, etc should all still work.

Haha! That was great, i especially liked the ending. I played the beta for like 15 hours and never saw anything like in this video... sadly.. I would have loved to see some of that first hand.

Well, I'll try to get them packaged up in a zip file and uploaded for you in the next couple of days if you like, it would be good to possibly see the maps get used again for an event or something. Some of them are quite small compared to current PR standards, the old .5kmx.5km ones but all of them together are only like 500mb unzipped so i may aswell just send you all of them. What would be the best place to upload them? I hear Dropbox get mentioned a lot but have never used it myself... is that the best place?
I've got Battle For Qinling aswell if you want me to include that, but, well, that wasn't the most exciting map...

The installer for the pack only allows you to install to PR .97 but if the maps are wanted by someone to go through and update to the latest version i still have PR.97 aswell so i can install the pack and just zip up the map folders. So, if someone wants them just let me know and I'll try to figure out a way to send them over, it's' up to you guys though, i don't know anything about how to update them to work with the latest version of PR or how much work would be involved with it.

I'm not sure if these are the same maps/pack that Blud or Fastjack seem to have found or if they're what people are looking for but I'll list them anyway just in case they're different.
I still have a map pack i downloaded waaaaay back in 2011 that has the following maps.
QuoteAl Kufrah Oilfield
Desert Rats
Helmand Fields
Helmands Return
Hills Of Hamgyong
Midnight Sun
Op Black Hawk Down
Operation Phoenix
Operation Harvest
Operation Road Rage
Road To Jalalabad
Street 2
Sunset City

Pity my ping is too high to properly enjoy US DCS servers, it sounds like it could be fun but i would just get too much desync/warping to enjoy it on a busy server.

Nice one Pastrami, i couldn't figure out which font it was sadly, looks like you retained the original sky color a little better as well. I was going to attempt the second one as well but I think i 'll leave it for you :p.

How well does it handle ping? Is there any ping limit on the server?
I've been considering taking another look at BMS but flying with only AI gets boring pretty quickly and being in Aus it can be hard to play these older games with no local servers. -

I know you said you have run it on that card before but it doesn't meet the required specs for the game. The Hd 3870 minimum requirement is a somewhat more powerful card then the HD 5450. It's a pain i know, my card holds me back from quite a few games I'd like to play as well.
The rest of your hardware seems to meet the specs. -
Nice pics Semler, Hope to see some more from when you jump back into combat .

The increased challenge was nice n all, buuuuut some maps were ending within 10 minutes just from ticket bleed and seeing as though it takes 5+ minutes for a lot of people to load that's just far too quick.

That looks pretty incredible. The 4d environmental effects and that vehicle chair were my favorite parts.
I remember trying a virtual bobsled type thing probably 10 years ago now, although not a virtual reality gaming experience it was a similar idea to the vehicle chair. It was the same width and height as a shipping container but half as long, it sat on a platform and had the ability to lean right, left, forwards or backwards and had a screen up front and surround sound. As the hill sections got steeper the back would rise and it would lean in corners etc, the sensation of being jolted around and having that screen so close were very immersive.
Keen to see what they could do with this VOID thing with all the new tech and more interesting game play ideas, although probably won't see anything like this here in Aus for quite a while :(. -
If my memory is correct there is a download section in the Bms forums Here, that's where i downloaded it from. The download section here doesn't work for the BMS mod but the Exe download seems to work if using the alternate download from dropbox.
Edit: You need to create an account to access their forums. -
Yeah the !rules command doesn't seem to work either anymore not sure if that just shows the rules that scroll or not, but last time i checked that was a couple weeks ago.

I dunno man, when the server pop is low like under 10 people vote is needed big time, and can quite often work, it's when server pop gets high it seems hard to pass them.
I remember before i had power to turn it back on it would annoy me when an admin would come get us onto a map then lock and forget to unlock before they left. For example we'd play something like Karbala then the map goes to Lashkar Valley, with less then 10 people that sucks, you just spend 3 hours fighting over 2 flags and dying from mass gunfire in trees. If the map then had something like Charlies Point after that it'd get even worse, people also see a hard map with not many people on and won't join. In those times i would actually wish for a server crash.
Sometimes going from a ~5-10 man shitfest to something easy like Kashan as Canadians can double or more the server pop.
This is all just just my opinion though and i'm not trying to speak on VG's Behalf. -
Looks and sounds interesting, pretty keen to see where they can go with it, They have more to show with alot less time spent on it then PR2 and A3 PR.

If i was going on buy on launch I'd go ps4, however I buy all my games on pc anyway when i can, so I'll probably hold out for a year and look at exclusives and any problems that come up with hardware.
I've used my 360 more to charge my phone then play games lol.

Budget is sort of around USD 800 -1000 for throttle/stick.
Wow, that Hotas Combo is a serious contender! Build quality sounds excellent + some great features/specs. I'm glad i mentioned helicopters. The fact i could swap between collective and throttle from the base is an awesome feature, looks like all of that fits within budget too. i'll look at a few vids/reviews about it.
Went with the T FLight pedals, at least for now, found them as a pack with the matching throttle + stick for less than what the pedals retail for! They're all as new condition! I see what you mean about them feeling quite slim though Keed.
I had not seen that the Apache quick start guide had been released! That a massive amount of pages for a quickstart, i wonder what the main manual will get to! Ah well, i had better start reading. Is the DCS Apache something you're looking at getting Keed?
