Crazy how we used to party n hang in AZ when we were kids & then not see each other for over 20yrs, then to run into each other again flying sims and to both be running flight sim communitiy websites. Awesome coincidence, yeah? I really like what you all have going on here. You guys cover a wide range of combat online gaming. Very nice to have allies with similar interests.

I have Windows 7 and other than needing to do everything "as administrator" all the games load up fine for me, including IL2. I got a new machine in May 2010, HP Pavillion Elite HPE110f - 8GB RAM, 64-bit, still need to switch over my card from old machine - nVidia GForce 8600 GTS. Dont like the stock ATI - Radeon HD 4350 <("crap") the HP came with. Just need a lil bigger power supply. Was gonna build my own machine, just dont have the time or money to build my own nuclear reactor lol.

If anyone has any questions about IL2 1946 and how to get it all dialed in, please feel free to ask in our forums at Skies. We have a great bunch of guys in the FS, from all over the world, that are very polite and have been flying IL2 a long time. Great game, great community.

Hello, I am FS~Built2spill and I run and maintain a website for IL2 Sturmovik 1946 and I am part of a squad called the Fire Squadron. We have two online gaming servers available for free WWII dogfight simulation. One server, named Skies~Of~Fire, is set up for newer players to the game that offers "Relaxed" settings and is a great place to get familiar with how everything in IL2 is set up. There are dozens of various aircraft that span pre WWII to post, Allied & Axis. Aircraft also include Korean era jets. You will find up to 50 players, at any given time, dogfighting and bombing in aircraft like the P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, Bf-109, A6M2 "Zero", & if I had to list all flyable aircraft, I'd be here all day typing lol...

Our other server is named Skies~Of~Valor and has less "Relaxed" settings with "cockpit on" only settings. Valor online maps are designed with actual historical WWII engagements. Our maps are very well thought out and span both European, Russian and Pacific war campains and are set up with many hours or research of aircraft, loadouts, weather conditions, ships, ground troops, armor, front lines...again, too much to list here. This server also has a 50 player maximum, with great lag free bandwith for both. Both SOF and SOV servers can be found in Hyperlobby or XFire.

IL2, as Falcon, has been modded out to give the best possible immersion in dogfight simulation. The game has been the forerunner for WWII flight sims since 2001. There is still no games available that can match the realism and game engine that IL2 has to offer. Soon Oleg Maddox, the maker of the IL2 series, is going to release Storm Of War : Battle of Britain. This sim will take WWII dogfighting to an unprecidented level. This sim will focus initially on the early WWII conflict that occured durin the late 1930's when the Luftwaffe began bombing England & the RAF had to respond to the attacks. When released, SoW:BoB will have only early war aircraft and there will not be any late war aircraft available until future addons will be released.

There is also many sections in our forums including Storm of War developments. You will need to have version 4.09m installed with the latest version of IL2. All of this is explained via link above.

PS I fly IL2 Sturmovic 1946, Lock On : Flaming Cliffs 2, DCS: Black Shark, (crosses fingers that the Lock On DCS: A:10 Warthog addon will hit the shelves this year ; ) & Free Falcon 5.5. I still feel that IL2 is still much better than all I have flown as far as realism and flight immersion is concerned. Storm of War: Battle of Britain is going to be leaps and bounds above anything else that has been released to date. That you can be sure of!
