  1. DIY Wireless TrackClip Pro
Haven't had time to spend on this project for awhile....  Been trying to find batteries that will power these 3 LED's, and previous tests required at least 4x 1.5V AAA Batteries which is way too large for a battery pack that will sit velcro'd to my headphones.

I just found some rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries with 3.7 Volts each in a "AAA" form-factor.  These things are great!  I tried running a single battery, but the LED's didn't illuminate in any noticeable way so I had to wire a second battery in serial, and they light up just fine.  They are 350mAh each, which is less than half the capacity of a standard rechargeable Li-ion AAA battery, but the trade-off for a higher voltage in such a small size is exactly what I need for this project.

I left this thing plugged in overnight and it was off in the morning, I guess I'll time it to see how long it lasts.  Next step will be to rig a recharging circuit with a micro-A USB female plug-in for easy re-charging, and then cram it all in a small black box with a velcro strap to easily attach to my headset.  To start, I'm not going to cut the TrackClip Pro wire, and I'll leave the female USB connector shown below on the battery pack.  I may shorten the TrackClip wire near the end of this project, at least to remove the heavy USB pass-through dongle hanging off it.

We'll see where this goes, I've never done anything like this before so it's a small challenge.

Next parts are on order now --  if I ramp up the voltage from one single 3.7V battery, I can achieve 5V @ 1A for the 3 LED's on the TrackClip, and should retain a duration of more than 4 hours (overly hopeful estimate).  I'll need to do some testing, if I have to, I'll use the second 3.7V battery like in the image above just for longer time between charges.  Conversely, the new parts I ordered come in a 3 pack, so I could use one battery, and make up 3 separate powerpacks, and could have pre-charged ones sitting in reserve in the event one cuts out during use.  This would allow me to retain the very tiny form-factor which is one of my goals.

I suppose I should note those goals moving forward:

      1. Tiny form-factor, less than 5cm long, less than 2.5cm wide & tall
      2. Can power TrackClip for between 4-8 hours continuously
      3. Tiny on-off slider switch
      4. Rechargeable via micro-A USB female plugin
      5. Output to TrackClip via USB (type A) female outlet plug (as in picture above)
      6. Encased in semi-rigid form like shrink wrap, adapted plastic case, or custom 3D printed plastic case
      7. Velcro strap to easily mount on headphones
      8. Total cost for one single powerpack unit less than $10 USD

These will arrive in about a week for $8 USD includes 3x charging boards with protection, 3x voltage step up circuits (variable with potentiometer 2-24V in to 5-28V out) and 5x 3.7V 18650 Battery holders (though I'll still be using the much smaller AAA style 3.7V batteries and holders shown above):

  6. Discord keeps kicking me?

Once again, I have reviewed all Server Settings and permissions, and there is no VG specific setting or Bot that is kicking you out. We have no AFK monitor, and no system in place to do anything to people who have gone AFK. I have gone ahead and googled your problem and found many users who have experienced your exact issue, of course, not on the VG Discord. This issue seems to be part of the Discord code itself, in one such post I saw that the user reported it gone after a Discord update. Basically, we have no control over this, Discord does not operate like our TeamSpeak where we have direct control over everything from a program that is actually installed on our server. Best wishes and good luck to you!

  8. Ban Appeal!

Hey, no worries, guys -- it's a video game and it's not perfect; glitches happen. Seems you were somehow able to rejoin, but you are indeed banned for now, and it has not been lifted yet (for the record). Please do not attempt to rejoin the server until someone from this forum thread has informed you that you're unbanned. Rejoining our server and playing while banned (by taking advantage of some glitch in the code) will not look good on your record as we investigate your Unban Request. Please be patient and respect our PR Admin's wishes. Thank you! This is the stage we are at now:
  9. Happy Birthday VETERANS-GAMING

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VETERANS-GAMING! In 2010, =VG= BLuDKLoT founded the VETERANS-GAMING Clan as a public gaming community with a focus on COOP gaming and teamplay. The website(s) are programmed and managed diligently by =VG= SolarFlame, and have been improved over time by him with additional components and support from Aseptik. Our TeamSpeak 3 Server has been very well maintained and managed over the years, and has been the social hub of our community where players can have fun without disruptions while gaming or just hanging out with friends. After less than a few short years following it's launch, VG had grown to include over 40 Clan Members from more than 15 countries on 5 continents hosting the most popular and by far the most clean Project Reality COOP Server online. VG has maintained this position for going on a decade now, and is still running strong. To improve server speed, performance, capacity and costs, a team including SavageCDN, Poffadder, SolarFlame and SemlerPDX helped to migrate the VG Game Server to a host in Germany that offered the fastest, most reliable self-managed servers available in the West, and immediately VG was able to host Project Reality COOP as well as additional servers including Arma 2, Minecraft, and any other "flavor of the week" we wished to install and try out. Our game servers and website have continued to improve and evolve over the years including additional functionality and performance, and as some older members may become less active, more and more new members have joined us to fill the gap. It is thanks to all the members and all the players, and all the admins working hard, that VETERANS-GAMING has persisted and thrived for so long, and we are all grateful to have an online home away from home like VG provides. Here's to another awesome year with the greatest COOP gamers online, and to many more years to come!

  11. Teamkill Ban Appeal (CicadaPeepee IG)

I'm just gonna say this once and hope that both players and our PR Admins learn something -- sometimes we ban someone when necessary to cease behavior knowing that it will open up a dialog in the forums during an Unban Request thread, as we are doing here. Not saying that is what happened in this case, but we're here now, so why waste an opportunity... The constructive criticism being raised here is not intended to hurt your feelings but to get a word in edgewise to tell you how to move forward if you continue to play on our server(s). Regardless of the matter of your ban, assuming your are unbanned after all of this, you must understand the following things or you'll find yourself right back here before too long: This is not a training server - while it's okay to play while you learn as Infantry, this is not okay in vehicles and we expect you to learn how to operate those proficiently offline or elsewhere. Your use of the in-game chat system is bordering on spam because you average at least 3 messages every minute, and it's easier to count the minutes you didn't chat up than those you did while you were online. While we encourage communication, we also encourage brevity. Doesn't matter if it's Squad Chat or All Chat - you need to dial it way back. Our Admin Team will expect you to learn and adhere to the rules of our server, and while some information may be offered, the burden is upon you to educate yourself in our rules and SOP's, and you're expected to avoid any discussion or arguments about rules/SOP's with Admins during gameplay.
  12. GOG has a decent sale going on right now; picked up a pair of classics for less than a fiver -- Sid Meier's Pirates (the 2004 remake) and Railroad Tycoon 3

  13. wrong ACDATA files

First, you list 4.33.4 U5 -- if there is a typo, that is okay, but U5 is: 4.33.5 Build 16084 Let's be sure we are on the same page with the updates, so launch BMS and check the lower right corner of the main menu - be sure it looks like this: One easy thing you can do is to copy and move your modded Acdata folder to the side, and use a clean un-modified version for use on Public Servers such as ours. When you want to play offline or elsewhere using mods or custom items, you can move the modded Acdata folder back into position. Be sure BMS is not running when you move these folders around. The path to this folder is: (your programs folder)\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Sim Here's a copy of a default un-modified Acdata folder for 4.33.5 (U5) from my own installation: https://www.dropbox.com/s/m7v7oxvid329ped/Acdata.zip?dl=0 I keep that folder at that link until the next update, and usually do it for every update - if you ever get mixed up and need a fresh unmodified Acdata folder, just refer to that link. I might get it into the Downloads section here for easy reference, because basically it's the go-to fix for the error you posted.

  15. BMS CTD

Not sure off the top of my head, cannot remember the last time I had to deal with a crash log. You may find more selective help on THIS issue on the BMS forums, as the devs themselves (as well as several long time members) have far more collective knowledge between them. We could try all day here, but I'd feel you'd not be getting the expert help you deserve cuz we're just taking shots in the dark. Chances are, over at the BMS sim's actual forums, someone has helped someone else out in the last 18 years who had your exact set of issues and PC hardware.
  16. Hello world!

Hello and welcome! Study hard and don't forget to enjoy the journey! Painful at first, but as you know from civi flight sim, the rewards are worth it in the end. The Training Missions found under Tactical Engagement follow the Training Manual in your programs folder\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals\BMS-Training.pdf Don't necessarily need to do them in order, so if you get bored after completing Basic Handling, feel free to move on to learning how to use a weapon system (AA or AG, and one or two of the weapon types for those modes). FTR, Air to Air refueling is considered by many to be one of the most difficult procedures to complete, and when we fly multi-player flights, we rarely assume that everyone is AAR trained, and therefore rarely use it (landing at a friendly air strip will always suffice to refuel in a pinch). Just know that going in, maybe you'll love it and be good at it - but don't assume we ALL are pro's at AAR. It's the stretch goal of the BMS combat sim trainee, IMHO. Regarding setting up controls and knowing what you'll need to know and push often, and what you can leave to the 3D cockpit where you just use the mouse to click around the cockpit, check out Jeffu's blog (part 1 and 2) on the topic of Keybindings and in-game controls you'll want to setup:

  20. Falcon 4 programm

Go to BMS forums - first read this: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?6670-PLEASE-READ-THIS-BEFORE-MODDING-BMS Then search the forums here for the information you need (or ask around): https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?36-Community-MODs-WIP
  21. BMS graphics problems

Can we assume that you've tried a test in BMS with all the graphics settings as low as possible to see if that increases the FPS? If it doesn't, it would be an indicator that something is not set correctly somewhere or that there is a literal fault causing an inability to display and run that game correctly. Double check your GFX card's settings, too, and be sure you're not trying to push something crazy like 8x Anti Aliasing or 16x Anisotropic filtering or something while trying to get more FPS in testing. Need to get some sort of baseline to see where your computer is hanging up, because it should get low FPS if there was an issue, not pinned down to 1 FPS. That sounds like the game is not doing something right. Also, re. uninstalling, perhaps you may need to be sure everything uninstalled completely, or maybe you did so before reinstalling? That would be important to be sure the fault doesn't carry over. Lastly, I'd go through the BMS Launcher, select the Configuration option, and go through those line by line, ensuring any hardware options are set correctly for your system and that any heavy performance options are disabled for the remainder of testing. This one is a real head scratcher, but I'd advise you to keep at it, trying different things, it could be something obvious staring us in the face, or something less so, but there is a solution to every problem if you keep working at it.
  22. BMS graphics problems

Okay, so if other games are running just fine right now and BMS is not, and if you have reviewed your in-game graphics settings and they are correct, let's try the DX9 file thing... Go to the programs folder the contains your BMS installation (your Program Files\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\User\Config) and delete the file: dx9display.dsp Start up BMS and go to your setup and double check that GFX settings are correct, then go to Instant Action for a quick test. Let us know if it worked. Next step (AFAIK) would be to backup your logbook and user files, and reinstall BMS. I hope that won't be needed, but in the end might be faster than any further bug hunts.
  23. Falcon 4 programm

Check out this guide, it shows how to access the in-game controls of Falcon BMS through DirectX key input: http://www.blu3wolf.com/falconbms/Kolbe/Falcon BMS Keyfile Manual.pdf I believe that is where you will find your answers. If this is not what you want, please rephrase your question and we will try to help. Best wishes and good luck!
  24. BMS graphics problems

Could be a few things causing that issue... Have you changed any hardware during your absence from playing BMS? What version did you leave on (did you have to update when coming back?) I just got back into it myself, reinstalled after backing up my files, configs... but there could be so many simple things causing an issue that it might be hard to run through one at a time back and forth in a forum. Do you have other games installed? I ask because it would be great to check that any game will run correctly on your monitor at that resolution, and decent FPS -- that would make BMS the problem to narrow it down. Not sure if this could be an issue with the DX9 file in the BMS config folders, it's been awhile and I'm rusty in places. That could be a thing to google, wish I could remember. You did the right thing with the Disable full screen optimizations. Let's just be sure the GFX card is working and that some game will play, and move forward from there.
  25. Unable to conttect to server

Sorry for the late reply -- been away all day. Trying to get back into all this, but it's slow going. RE. Server -- had crashed to desktop; restarted to last autosave. I'm a little rusty in places, but I think it's all fired up and working again. Thanks for the report!
