Lol - we don't need raid5 or 6? The only benefit of RAID5 & 6 over RAID1 is that it allows you to get more space out of your disks. RAID1 is much less cost effective because you're always halving your total capacity - which costs companies a lot of money. We used about 20% of our total space - so a non issue for us. RAID1 is the way to go. Our web server runs linux with HW RAID1. Its not a case that we don't know what we are doing or we aren't aware of the differences between software and HW raid - its simply down to budget. Our money comes from donations and we cannot afford all the luxuries we would like. In an ideal world we'd own a rack and would be using a SAN rather than local storage at all..

I'm wondering if the benefit would be even greater if this could be set up as a cluster over high speed LAN. For example; two servers connected via a gigabit switch with cat6 ethernet cable. One server running the head client and the ArmA2 servers connected to the headless client via the lan? That would mean no stress at all from the AI. You could really ramp the AI numbers up. Then the outside line connected to the internet and all the server resources would purely be for players. You could have a CRAZY event like that with 100 people online. All in theory, of course...

Holy shit? You set up a TC admin template already? That's awesome. We need to work on making it easy to apply mass updates and stuff, though. Since the server is going to be "rolling release" because its an alpha we should really look into tcadmins server update/upgrade feature. I might open a ticket with them and ask them for a brief overview as documentation is a bit scarce.

@Admins I suggest people who had received their copies edit their original post with something like EDIT: Copy of ArmA III sent ~Solar Obviously replace solar with your username - then we can keep track of people receiving copies of the game

Why are you downloading the server?

Yes I know, as I'm the admin that directed you here. However you joined teamspeak and immediately asked me if I was an admin and if there was a way to appeal a ban. Which means today you decided to actively join our teamspeak and try to contact us about the ban. Why did you not look into this at an earlier stage? There wasn't anything stopping you joining teamspeak when you were first banned to ask about it, so why now? This post comes across as a bit harsh and rude and I know I'm being direct. I don't mean to be aggressive about it but I've been an admin on this community for a long time (since it began) and frequently players we banned on BF2:PR would come back months later because they had griefed on every other server and basically exhausted the list of servers to play on and so had to start trying to get unbanned on them. Forgive me for doing the whole detective routine, but being a cop I generally do over-analyse behaviour.

If you were banned a few months ago, why are you only just now appealing the ban?

Reminds me, I should probably do this for the linux dedi. I should be able to install the updates too provided there isnt a kernel update - which would require a restart. Others usually don't. Just be reminded savage, if you are doing the update from within tcadmin - it generally updates all slaves too. So the linux datashack server might go down or servers might restart etc. Just a heads up and thanks for taking care of this! Edit : Linux server packages updated. All that it needs is a tcadmin update which will be done when the german dedi is updated

If you are having trouble with pb and our coop server please read http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f388-pr-bf2-community-modding/104016-audio-pr-0-973-anders-soundmod.html - we do not have sound mod enabled which is why you are being kicked. Make sure you are running latest version and that it is DISABLED before launching pr and connecting. I can work on getting the server soundmod enabled.

Hey Yoda, Since moving providers we have had to apply for a new pr license. We have the bf2 servers ready to go and we are awaiting being granted a pr license so we can grab the files and start the server. Unfortunately we need to wait on them to approve the license and until they do we just have to sit and twiddle our thumbs. As soon as the license is granted we'll have it up ASAP. If you find yourself joining and you cannot move outside of the welcome lounge channels that is because you are a guest and not verified. You will have to message an admin to verify you to allow you to move between channels. {EDIT NOTE: Only certain channels disallow guests to join them, most will let you move freely as a guest.]

I have original swat 4 with a pirated stetchkov syndicate. I think you've missed the "swat 4 wave" though. We were playing it loads about 2 weeks ago, however with the release of this new arma mod "DayZ" coupled with the arma events exam time approaching for colleges and universities a lot of us have migrated to different games - for now at least. I'd still be willing to help you get this sorted if you want, never know when people will start playing again!

What do you mean "it wont start"... Are you saying you cannot put in a disc and boot from the disc to re install the os. Can you access bios settings? Or have you really gone and f'd up your ROM BIOS? If so, why were you even in there in the first place lol?

AirborneAlways LAN_WROTE ... I never let computer hardware go to waste. Only one of the two desktops and a laptop did I pay for, the other two desktops were free for the taking by owners who had upgraded to newer. So I always look for new ingenuous ways of making them all work together (two systems are Microsnot, one Unbuntu and one Mint). Nice to see a fellow Linux user on the forums ;)

Couldn't get ahold of it on steam or origin so had to go for CD-ROM. Its a really old game and the company folded a while ago so I think its hard to get ahold of. I would rather digital download but I figured I can't complain ?2.50 with free delivery!
