So glad you mentioned this; It pains me every time someone calls the Scimitar a "LIGHT TANK". I always seem too spend the next few minutes explaining how its a Reconnaissance Vehicle and not a Tank...

I'll show them this post next time.:tatice_03:

EDIT: Added this video as a bit of fun.

  2. Think everyone has pretty much summed it up.

Unlike @=VG= Kavelenko (The crazy nutter), I fly using the bog standard keyboard and mouse - I'm currently trying to organise and film a video about Squad Leading but Ill happy make another about the basics of "keyboard flying" in the near future. Also, I'm very sure that the experienced pilots will happily show you the ropes in game if you ask nicely ;)

Noted that various guys suggested different helicopters to learn in. Personally I found the Huey to be the best helicopter to learn the flight mechanics of PR. Its simple, stable and can take a good beating!

As with all new things; "usus est magister optimus" - Practice is the best teacher.

  3. Great effort here Kav, Really clear and informative.

After watching this, I might consider making a video based on basic squad leading as we are running low on competent squad leaders on the server. Also might inspire some confidence in players to take on new roles.

Also think it would be a great idea to get a thread going with video's such as these to help guide players on various aspects of the game .

Possible areas that could be explained:

    • APCs / Tank / Armour gameplay
    • Using the Commander tools
    • Basic understanding of AAS (COOP)
    • CAS gameplay
    • Basic Infantry gameplay (Game Controls and Mumble)
    • Advanced Kits (HATS / ENGINEER / SPOTTER)

Ill be happy to create a few with the assistance of others ;)

It's just not as much fun as it used to be with 40 people all rushing objectives and finishing maps in record time. Part of that is a bunch of noobs with no mics, no English, and no teamwork. Then on the other hand, you get four

people on during off-peak hours...one will join trans, two will join CAS...leaving one guy (usually me) to do everything else.

Unfortunately, since the stand alone update this will never change. Probably the reason why I enjoy the "stupidly hard maps" such as (dare I say it) Tad sae and Charlie's.

Can we do a test run for the relaxed deployment mode? That actually sounds like a lot of fun

Surprised to see you alive and kicking! You should definitely jump back into PR and join us again!

Definitely think a second server for event and special modes is a good idea - We have a large and strong team of admins that can easily monitor both servers.

  5. Several players have had issues regarding the new update and Mumble not working. You simply need to update Visual C++.

(Vincent - I hope this helps!)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please read the following thread; http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f604-pr-changelogs/145393-pr-bf2-v1-4-12-0-changelog.html.

I have also copied in the important text:

Important, due to an update to the mumble client, make sure you have Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installed! Download it here. This is also for those who get the 'Mumble_app.dll error -3' error. You need the vc_redist.x86.exe even if you have x64 system.

Now follow the link given: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=48145

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Follow these steps to download and install:

    Step 1

    Click download on the website

    1.png

    Step 2

Click next to vc_redistx86.exe then click next

    2.png

    Step 3

A pop-up should appear at the bottom of the screen and click Save as.

Now save the program onto the desktop and click save.

    3.png

    Step 4

Go onto the desktop and find the file (vc_redist.x86.exe)

    Step 5

The following screen should pop up. Click the small box on the bottom left then click install.

Unfortunately I've already had this installed so I can only show the final steps - You just need to follow the prompts and finalise the installation.

Hope this helps, if anyone has got any questions, feel free to ask!

    Special Thanks to DARKCOTTONTAIL:

"If you run into an issue when running the C++ installer that says you already have a newer version of C++ installed, you technically need to only uninstall the x86 version of C++ update shown in the following screenshot"

    Special Thanks to DIGUELO:

"When updating the redistributable packs It is highly suggested amongst programmers that ALL redist packs from 2010 to today be installed for both x86 and x64 versions. The main reason is that calls to and from it usually assume youve been putting them in place since you were in the womb and consequently start looking for them in the drive. For the space they take up its worth it to have them all in place.

Those using VS 2010 and above check your updates for the changes manually dont expect Windows to do it for you. And any code you write I find is usually best written in one specific studio and specify what it is. OS only makes a damn if its not windows 10, but the more people that use the same syntax and compatability and redist packs will achieve better results.

Making a Self installer routine dont forrget the uninstall routine to clear everything out."

    3. As mentioned before, this event is signup only. Any people not in the list attempting to join will be removed, continious attempts will get you banned until the server is back to normal.

3.1 If there are slots open after the event has started  and someone not on the list wishes to join, poke me (=VG= TEDF) on TS and I shall grant you access. People, who are on the list and drop out midgame may reconnect freely.

    My squad is currently full.

I have deathdealer203 on my reserve list. Ill be sure to remind him to poke you if one of my original squad members drop out.

I'm not trying to chance anyone's vote Blazer. I respect other people opinions and I don't care if they voted in a different way than me.

I'm just saying that everybody knows that changes are needed. I think we all agree with that. We can discuss how many changes but they are needed. For instance delete the bots air assets to avoid confusion or unnecessary death of noob players (which is better for the team). So it can't be a "No period" situation.

BTW this is a VG poll not your country messy elections, chill out my friend.

I wasn't trying to come across as hostile in anyway.

I will write it again, I voted NO and that was my final choice - If this isn't a messy election, could we stop calling out people who voted differently?

This system really needs to be anonymous so that people vote on how they feel and not by who voted what.

This poll was made to make changes on the server. I support that and its good however, this shouldn't cause a friction within the community.

  8. I'm sure many of us here will miss your cheerful attitude, stay strong and we will be with you every step of the way.

One of the best things about this community is that we never hesitate help one another, don't be afraid to share any problems with us.
