  1. I can see if I can find some moer but I think this is by far the best. Laddr6 did find a recording of 2 F14's taking down some libyan migs - I'll find it and post it :)
  2. It's only an audio file, the transcript is below so read through it whilst you listen as sometimes its difficult to hear what they're saying. Exciting and humbling stuff! Note that the "clicks" and "bells") are from the F-16's Early Warning Receiver (EWR). Each noise represents a certain aircraft/radar/SAM locking onto the plane. BULL- "I copy, marked." {Sound of rushing wind, still recording inside Benji 53?} On February 17th, 1991, Captain Scott "Spike" Thomas, with the 19th FS and 363rd TFW temporarily based at King Khalid Military City, was flying a night interdiction mission in his F-16C with the codename of "Benji 53". As the package was coming off of station (egress), his F-16 experience engine problems. Early reports suggested he had been hit by a Surface to Air Missile (SAM), but that has not been confirmed. Thomas's wingman, 1LT Eric "Neck" Dodson, came to his aid and helped him nurse his plane closer to the Iraq-Saudi Arabia-Kuwait border, nearly 40-60 miles south of their position. Dodson assumed control of most radio communictions bewtween AWACs (Bulldog), leaving Thomas free to fly his injured plane. With less than 30 miles to go to the border, and his plane leaking what appeared to be fuel, Thomas and his wingman realize his F-16 beginning to develop a catastrophic engine fire. With a valiant effort to get as close as he could, Thomas finally decides to eject over enemy territory. His radio contact is spotty once he is on the ground, but Search and Rescue helicopters (a package of 2 UH-60 Blackhawks and 1 MH-53J Pave Low, along with F-15E's providing Close Air Support), located his position roughly 2 hours later. The F-15E's were called in to engage an approaching Iraqi truck with cluster bombs during the extraction. During debrief, it was realized that an SA-7 Surface to Air Missile (SAM) had been shot at the rescue helicopter in which Thomas was riding, but the missile was out of range and landed short. It was also learned that Thomas had less than 1 hour of freedom, as there were Iraqi troops within 2 miles of him in 2 different directions.

  4. Having flown with the 72nd I can tell you the experience of going out with 12 or 16 guys is awesome, especially with AWACs. We should set up a flight and all go out en masse :)
  5. Columns can stretch in excess of 7000M long so a ripple of 12 rockeyes at 300m will only cover half it's length. If you go for 600m you may loose on area effect. Columns are normally setup into groups of 3 like so ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... That's actually pretty much what they look like in game from high up lol. Rippling off all 12 at once is by far the safest option but probably won't get you as many kills. Going for single bombs as you dive down on each group of 3 (correct for lead if it's moving) will give you better results (you can get 30 kills this way with rockeye's) but you put yourself in harms way for ground fire and SAM's. Set your chaff/flares to dispense about 20, maybe 2 a second with a seconds interval. You're only doing one pass anyway. Basically you want them firing out for the length of time your in the SAM threat area. Remember as soon as you hit them, they'll scatter so make sure you set your attack run up good, flying along the column in the direction it is travelling. CBU's have all different uses. 12 Rockeye's is fine for armoured columns but check the tac ref and experiemnt with them. Jex :)
  6. Hi all, Heard about the F4:AF server over at SimHQ so thought I'd come check you guys out. Been flying Falcon since AF was released (though played about 6 months of one of the BMS packs prior to that). Hoping to get in some flights with anyone that's interested in taking a multiple package flight into the jaws of North Korean airspace! Anyone not familiar with Falcon 4: Allied Force but likes flying, get this sim! OK the graphics are outdated but no other sim gives you a total war going on with upwards of 30,000 units across the battlefield where you never know what's going to come your way next. Highly tactical, great for teamwork and what's cooler than flying an F16 and blowing the crap outta things? Anyone wanting to get to grips with Falcon, send me a PM and I can schedule some training to help you out. It's not that difficult - trust me. It looks complicated, and it is if you approach it looking at everything but there are easy steps you can take to give you the basics to work with. Anyway hope to see you on the ramp :) Check Six!
