Ive been hearing alot of compatibility issues with it, and took a look at it the other day (looking for a new computer) not only does it look like Vista by quite a bit, but i heard that is has had a few issues sense it came out.

Does anyone know whats up? or if there fixes for things like the compatibility issue?

I have a newish PC, came with Windows 7 Home Premium. I recently switched to Ubuntu 10.04 because of the issues it had. (I will admit to be a 'geek tinkerer, and could probably patch the bios or something... ) Windows 7 on my acer AMD Phenom II x4 box started hanging on login. Before things went south with Win7, I was going to upgrade to Win7 Pro or Ultimate so that I could take advantage of the "XP Mode" for games (i.e. NeverwinterNights and Assassins Creed if I recall right) - without the upgrade I had little luck with non Win7 games. Hope this helps.

It's hit or miss with Windows 7 compatibility issues and there doesn't seem to be any consistency. I migrated to Win7 x64 last month after 9 years on XP. Overall, I am very happy with it. DirectX 10/11 looks great.

So far the only game I am having trouble with is ARMA 2. I cannot launch it, but it works fine for others. Yet I can still play older games like Falcon Allied Force, FreeFalcon, and Battlefield 2 without trouble.

Most people will tell you just to have a dual boot Win7/XP.

I've been using Windows 7 Pro 32bit for about a year and have had zero issues except with some older games running properly. If you have older software that doesn't work you can also install the free XP Mode add-on for Windows 7 which emulates an actual XP Pro environment.

Any issues I've heard about with Win7 usually are related to the 64bit version and software compatibility. Other than that it is a very stable O/S (sometimes I don't reboot for 6-8 weeks). Make sure you have 3 or 4GB of RAM for the 32bit version (adding more than 3GB does nothing as 32bit Windows cannot use it - but for RAM logistics it`s better to have 2 x 2GB sticks or 1 x 4GB).
